any relation to conrad shuler/schuler found in berkley co., wv. prior to 1800? this conrad moved to winchester, va. where he met and married and has descendants today.
the first conrad schuller/schuler came from germany to pennsylvania and then he or son, also conrad, migrated to berkley co. and the third conrad shuler was in winchester after 1800.

so, are you related to conrad schuler/shuler found in berkley county, wv? he is found shortly after in winchester, va. where he married mary green, daughter of elizabeth brent and william green. mary and conrad married abt. 1804 in winchester. the first conrad schuller/schuler/shuler came from germany to pennsylvania where i blieve his son, conrad, lived and then the third conrad moved to and married in winchester where he has descendants today.

Thank you. I did locate a cousin and through him locate others. Basically, ALL Shulers (no 'c') in the Berkeley/Orangeburg counties are related.

Where in the world did you get the information the "Pennsylvania Dutch" have ever claimed to be from Holland? They are Germans who mostly were Swiss citizens who came to PA to freely practice there religion.( Amish, Mennonites)

Now that we have taken care of the ancestors of my husband, let me take you on as far as the SHULERs, MY family.

They were not "Pennsylvania Dutch" not did they ever claim to be from Holland.

I am sure if I researched all your family surnames, I could amass a number who were not always inside the law. In my family I am responsible for my actions and I don't intend to go back to 1674, to complain abt what someone may or may not have done to my family. Chances are, my folks held their own in that department. I would love to find only wonderful, exemplary men and women in my ancestry but it is not likely to happen.
Please God, that in this day, I would not carry a hate for people I don't know who, allegedly did some "evil" to my ancestors, whom I also did not know, from hundreds of years ago.

Lighten up, genealogy is so enjoyable, and you meet so many nice folks. Concentrate on that and have fun.

All,

I have some Shulers from Lee Co., VA that moved to Johnson Co., TX. The only one I'm sure of is Hamon Shuler (1864-1921) and his descendants, but all his ancestors are currently speculation based on others research.

It's entirely possible that many of the Shulers from VA to TX were related. I've listed a link to my website and Adam and Betsy are also listed, but as I said, they are speculative.

I found a William W. Shuler marriage announcement in a 1859 Rochester, IN paper. He was an attorney in that area (near Wabash County) and typically referred to as W.W Shuler.

He was also a district attorney in Kosciusko County (north of Wabash) from 1860-1861.

There was also a William W. Shuler in Co.H, 29th Infantry from Miami County.

I know this post is 2 yrs old, but I have been doing research in Berkeley County, St.James Santee, SC... There are many Shulers with roots there also. Many of them are buried in the New Hope Methodist Cemetery, Shulerville,SC.. hope this helps..Also, in looking through census data there are also several families with the last name Brown.

This was probably not his first marriage.

Looking for death date and place of burial for James W. Shuler, son of Adam and Elizabeth (Betsy) Shuler. He was born about 1844 in Grayson Co, VA. He first married Emily Stringer in Jonesville, Lee Co, VA. Second marriage was to Mary Querry in 1874. They lived in Lee Co, VA. Children were Campbell, William and Benjamin. Mary died in 1907 in Lee Co, VA but James is not listed as being buried in the same cemetery as Mary. Also, wondering if anyone knows if James and Emily had any children and her date of death. He was listed as a widow when he married Mary.

Once you've found your ancestor in the Social Security Death Index, you may want to request a copy of your ancestor's original Social Security Application. An excellent record for genealogical information, the SS-5 is the application form used by an individual to enroll in the U.S. Social Security program.

The SS-5, or Application for Social Security Number is a great resource for learning more about individuals who died after about 1960, and generally includes the following:

Shuler - Died, in Lebanon, Pa., Oct. 4, 1875, of typhoid fever, Charles D.G. Shuler, aged 10 years, 11 months and 10 days.
A widowed mother, an only brother, together with other relatives and friends are left to mourn his early departure, but in hope of meeting him again in that land where partings are no more. He was a member of the English mission Sunday school of this place. Here, as well as in his own little family circle, he will be missed. May God bless the school and comfort the bereaved mother and brother.

Looking for any info re John and Minnie Shuler(maiden name not known), both born abt 1835 in Mecklenburg, Germany. Immigration abt 1849. Children-Fredricka(Ricka) born 1859, Sophia born 1871, Minnie born 1873. Possible brother to John--Frederick, also of Dundee. Fredricka married John Popp. They would be my great grandparents. Fredricka and John said to be buried in Dundee or Tecumseh area. John Popp related to Daisher family from Dundee/Tecumseh area.

Bert Shuler was born 15 Oct 1882 in Bowling Green, Warren, Ky. He married Dora Weidner 9 Dec 1909 in Cheyenne, WY. He died 6 Apr 1952 in Alliance, Box Butte, NE. Family lore says he left home at 16 due to a fight with his dad over a violin, and joined the railway. We cannot find any information of him until his marriage to Dora.
I am hoping someone out there has a story about this guy and can help me fill in the blanks and knock down this brick wall! Help!!! :)

Hi: I was born a Shuler. I don't think this is my line. Though I wonder something. My eldest brother use to say our faternal Grandfather use to say we were Pennsylvania Dutch. Not sure where he got this information. Though we go back to a Von Quackenbros or variations..

William and? Shuler William and Ann Bartlett-Shuler, William and Catherine Huyck-Shuler Peter and Anna Maria Reese-Shuler, Charles Edward and Mary Jane Terry-Shuler, then my Grandfather, my father, them me, then my children and then my grandchildren.

So if your line is similar please contactg me . Also There seems to have been another branch of Shulers in the St. Clair County,and Sanilac County Michigan Area. This family Was from Vincent Depaul and Margret Dewitte_Shuler. There was a son who ewas a Priest Father Maurice Shuler who worked out of St. Joseph Catholic Church in the Port Huron Michigan Area. I am not sure if Maurice and a Raymond Shuler of algonac were brothers or Uncle and nephew.

Hello, after speaking to my Cousins Uncle Marshall this morning I found that I apparently had the name misspelled, unless he or someone changed it over the years. I had thought the name was spelled 'Shuler', but Uncle Marshall, who lives in Barrington NJ spells it 'Schuler'

There is an Uncle I am attempting to reach who is currently living in Barrington NJ His name is Marshall Shuler.

Edna & Lester had 3 Sons, Lester, Michael & Jeff all still living.
