Just came across this post I realize it has been a long time but it really caught my interest. My dad's name is Maynard Shute born 1/13/33. Never really heard of any other Shute's. I know that my father's dad is also Maynard R Shute who remarried and had other children but we never knew them. Just wanted to put that out there.

I am a grandson of Laura Shute who married my grandfather Sherwood B. Norris. They had a farm in Craven County in a small community name Rhems near the Craven County/Jones County line. My dad Harvey (nickname is "Shute") is one of 10 children my grandparents had and he and my mother still lives in the community. My uncle Billy still lives in the house where my grandparents lived when they were alive.

John Comley, of New York, arrived last Friday on a visit to his brother, Geo. E. Shute of upper Salt river. The brothers had not seen each other since George left home 31 years ago. Mr. Comley took his departure this morning for California where he will spend a few weeks before returning east.

Hi Ian,
I am Joyce Brown-O'Connor's oldest sister and Harvey Shute's eldest Granddaughter.
Harvey was the oldest of five siblings three you have listed the other two are:

George Shute and Elsie Rodden. I do not know when either George or Elsie were born and can not remember when George died but Elsie is still alive and living in Montreal. She is 90 years old.

I will try to contact her to get more information.

I also remember both Llewellyn and Mary. They are both bury in Rawdon, QC which I have visited but would need to go through some paperwork I have to see which cemetery they are in.

Just to update your information on Christina Livingstone Shute (Brockie) she was born June 22, 1913 in Montreal, QC. She just passed away on June 29, 2010 having reached her 97 birthday the week before in Burlington, ON. Harvey Shute was born October 25, 1909 Harbour Grace, NL and died May 7, 1993 in Burlington, ON.

Also Audrey Christina Brown (Shute), my mother, was born August 3, 1936 in Chicago, IL and died November 6, 1998 in Oakville, ON.

Back in the 1980's I lived in Newfoundland and actually met a relative of mine in Harbour Grace who was a Noseworthy. Unfortunately we did not keep in touch and she was old enough that she probably isn't around any more.

May I ask what your connection to the Shute's is?

Sarah, Sorry I can't go back further than John Shute and Mary Cole. I assume you found Nahum Shute and Mary Guptil Shute who were parents of John Shute (1819-1904) married to Roxana Leach (1817-1889). Please let me know if I can be of further help.

I knew your mother since Macon Metts Shute died in 1843. I was 5 when I attended the funeral. I was unable to attend her funeral but came down from Garner (Raleigh) for the viewing. Your mother helped me so much in my research.

I have lots on the Shutes. I even have the pension records for Thomas Shute. Please let me know what you have and I will be happy to send anything I have to you.

I descend from Betty Gray Roberson, Daugher of Almira Metts Shute (Mettie) daugher of Macon Metts Shute.

I am researching the family of Thomas Shute who was an ensign in the Rev. War of Jones County, NC. He was born 1761( place unknown) he married Mary ? before 1785 when his son Henry Shute was born. He died 15 January 1819.

Son Henry Shute born 1785 (Jones co) and died around 1870, He maried Hannah Stevenson 12 July 18111 (NC marriage bond)
He died in Craven County, after 1861. He fought in the War of 1812.

Son John Shute born 1824 Craven Co. NC.
married Barbara Holten Parsons of Adams Creek, NC12 July 1811. He died 15 January 1878 in Trenton, NC. He fought in the War Between the States. (nothing civil about this war)

His son Macon Metts Shute born 8 March 1858 married Almira Cordelia Holland of Onslow County, NC on 14 December 1886.He died 5 May 1943 in New Bern, NC.

His daugher Almira Metts Shute - born in New Bern,NC 2 November 1888, married Samuel Bateman Roberson 18 January 1907. She died in Norfolk, Virginia 28 July 1967.

Her daughter - Bettie Gray Roberson born at Rhams. NC (near New Bern, NC) September 21, 1908. married George Linwood White on September 13, 1937.

Her daugher - Betty Lynnwood White ( Lynne) (Me) born 11 February 1938. Married First Norman LaMarr Ellington 24 September 1957. married second Thomas Glenn Belvin, 24 April 1971.

If any of these people are in your records I have lots of documentation for these lines that I will be happy to share.

Do you have any information about the Shute family in London early 1800's?

I am searching for info on a John Shute born in Newington London in about 1824. His mother was a Mary Ann Ware or Clarke.

He is believed to have taken the name William Ware before he was transported in 1841.

If our trees link I can give you about 200 descendants in Australia.

Jessie Shute was my maternal grandmother. Jessie's daughter, Lillian Stick was my mother. Any information you could give me regarding Priscilla Butt or John Shute would be greatly appreciated. Jessie married Thomas Stick Feb. 1903.

I am attempting to gather some information on the Thomas Stick who married Jesse Shute as to where the daughters settled after their mother remarried. I was wondering if they still went by the Stick name and that sort of thing.

Origins of William Shute

I am looking for the origin of William Shute who married Margaret Grimes. They moved to Nunda New York along with the Hay family around 1802. The Hays were from Vermont. William and Margaret Had four boys; Alden 1804, Richard 1805, Alfred 1807 & William Jr. 1815. All four boys appear to have been born in Nunda. Alden married Theadocia Hay and had five children, three boys and two girls. All born in Nunda New York.

Any information identifying where William Shute was born and when or positive identification of immigration will be appreciated.

I have been working on the Shute families in Montreal and have found many can be traced to Harbour Grace. I have put together a good deal of information but could use some help ensuring some of my assumptions are accurate.

Primarily, I am looking into the descendants of John Shute and Mary Riggler/Priscilla Butt as well as Robert Shute and Julia Noseworthy. Rather than list what I have here, if you contact me directly, I will send you what I have put together and ask for your corrections, additions, comments.

Eldora's parents were Adoniram Shute & Mary (possibly..Groff). 1880 Mary's 23 b. MN but 1900 Mary's 33 b. Sweden. Just trying to verify weither there was a census error or Adoniram was married twice!

LEON SHUTE

Leon F. Shute, 76, died, Nov. 12, 2007, of cancer. He was a resident of Apple Valley for 11 years.
He was born March 2, 1931, in Dover, N.H. and had lived in California for the past 35 years.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant 1st Class E7 - Military MP in the 101 Airborne for 24 years, 11 months, and nine days and served at Barstow Marine Corp Base for the last 17 years.
Leon was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Diane Epling.
Leon is survived by wife, Lois J. Shute; children, Paula G. Tabor-Wagner, Mark A. Tabor, Ronald W. Tabor, Michael Shute and Randy Shute; 11 grandchildren, including, Kinthyl Tabor, Michael A. Tabor, Stephanie Brewer, Jeffrey Tabor, Jennifer Stelle, Candice Simpson, and Craig Tabor; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Desert View Funeral Home, 11478 Amargosa Road, Victorville.
Services and burial will follow at Desert View Memorial Park, 11500 Amargosa Road, Victorville. Vincent Hanke will be officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to Lois J. Shute, 13385 Rancherias Road, Apple Valley, CA, 92308.
Desert View Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Addison Shute age 31 born in NY was living in Baldwin, Sherburne Co, MN in 1885 with his wife Mary who was born in MN. Their children were: Eldora, born in OR, Effie born in OR, Blanche born in MN, Estella 2 yrs old, born in MN and Jerome 1 yr also born in MN.

Dated June, 1895 MN Census Greenbush Township, Mille Lacs Co., MN
(looks like)Aryrani A SHUTE age 40, farmer, born in NY, resided here 3yrs, 7mths., living with wife Mary, age 27, born in MN, Effie, age 16 born in OR, Dora E, age 14 born in OR, Stella age 12, born in MN, and Ralph age 11, born in MN.

Henry Shute - Wayne County, Indiana

I am searching for the orgin of my great great grandfather Henry Shute who married Mary (Gray) Williams when he was abt 63 and she was abt 29. He needed a nurse as the family story goes. He died two or three months before my great grandfather was born, who was also called Henry. I suspect that he came from NJ and had a previous family. My great grandfather also put in a 1910 census that his father was born in Germany, which I feel is not correct but that there was a German connection maybe a generation or two before this. There is information about a Lydia Shute, who married a Benjamin Moore that I can find information on (who also lived in Wayne Co Indiana) and in her family tree she has a brother Henry who I am wondering if he is my great great grandfather. Can anyone supply me more information on this and if it is correct or not?
