They had eight children Blanche Marie (1881), Louis Dominc (1885), Marie Eugenie (1886),Josephine Agnes (1888), Eugene Ernest (1889), George (1890), Leonora Jeanette (1892), Alice Louise (1893).
Eugene Decuer was in business with his father-in-law, Dominique SICARD, and brothers-in-law Joaquin GOMEZ, and Gaspar SICARD. They had an oyster and seafood business in the French Quarter.

Salomon Sicard

I am looking for ANY information on a Salomon Sicard. I know very little about him but I suspect he was a witness at my ancestor's wedding in 1838 in Lavaltrie, Canada. The name on the record looks like "Salomon Syrar" but have no luck on that name. The bride in the marriage was "Francoise illigitime" but at the baptism of two of her first three children she went by Francoise Cyrar or Cirard. On July 17, 1838 she married Vennance Latour.

I stumbled across an 1842 Canadian Census for Lavaltrie with Vanas Latour. My current assumption is the census goes in either order of visit or by house. Vanas is listed as #5 but #3 is a Salomon Sicard, #4 is J Bte Latour who could quite easily be Jean Baptiste Latour the groom's father, and #28 is a Louis Latour - possibly the groom's brother who was also at the wedding. The only other witness was Francois Beaudry but that's not an uncommon name.

Aside from the scant circumstantial evidence I cannot tie Salomon Syrar and Salomon Sicard or Francoise Cyrar.

There were four witnesses at the wedding and two were the groom's family. I am trying to find whether one of the other two represented the bride.

I suppose there are 3 main topics I need:

How was the 1842 Census conducted? Were they in order of houses or families? Does "Proprietor of Real Property" mean the owner of the property and "Non Proprietor of Real Propery" were the farm workers? If that is the case Salomon Sicard is Proprieter and Vanas and J Bte are farm help, specifically "labourer."

Of course the most specific questions: Who were Francoise illegitimate's parents and where was she prior to her marriage?

Third is in regard to Salomon. Are Salomon Syrar and Sicard the same person? If so, what is his relationship to the family? Once a link is found it would be excellent to know when and where Saloman was born, lived, and when he died. Who were the 6 others in his household in 1842?

It is many years later, but we share a gggrandmother in Eliza Sicard. She did marry Patrick Mitchell Omeally (!),and he was a Baptist Minister - there is a plaque on the wall of the Baptist Church, Ulster Spring in his memory. However, there were only 13 children from this marriage, which so far as I can trace was his second. Don't know how many children there were previously, nor the name of the first wife.
Your ancestor Ellen Augusta married Charles Stockhausen and their son, Dudley was father to Andrea and Jean Stockhausen with whom I spent some time when a youngster in Jamaica.
Have you any info on exactly who Patrick OMeally/OMalley was and where he came from? Also trying to unravel the Sicard ancestors who arrived in Jamiaca from Haiti in the 1790's, and resided at York Castle plantation, St. Ann, Jamaica until the 1840's at least.
My grandmother was Eugenie Omeally South, and I knew my Aunts Lilian, Martha, Eva (Vermont) and Hepzibah - all sisters of Ellen Omeally Stockhausen.

My wife is Erin K Sicard, daughter of Wayne P Sicard, he's son of Charles Sicard, grandson of Albert Sicard (born Jan 15th 1890). Albert's father is listed just once, in the 1910 census. The name is given as Arfirio/Afisio Sicard, born 1866 in Quebec. This isn't a first name as far as I've found. It's an Italian last name. I wonder if the census taker got the name wrong. His wife was Mary Sicard (no maiden name listed), from New Hamsphire. Any ideas ? Her Sicard branch came from Quebec to Mass., mainly Holyoke. Albert's father is listed as born in Quebec. Any help would be appreciated.

The story of the Drummond Island Voyageurs lists Simon Sicard as a desendent of Sargeant Pierre Sicard who was at the siege of St John and was granted 200 acres of land for his service. Cant vouch for the accuracy. My wife is also desended from Simon

Looking for an Uncle who doesn't know me....

I am looking for an uncle I just found out about today. My grandfather Carelton Sicard (89) had a son before he married my grandmother. I don't know any details, so this is really a stab in the dark.

My grandfather was born and raised in Rochester, N.H., and he married Irene Merril from Plymouth, N.H. I don't know who the mother of my uncle would be, or when he would have been born, but my mother is 59 and the oldest of three daughters. My guess is my uncle would be somewhere between 63 and 70?

If anyone knows of any information on this, I would greatly appreciate it, and you can email me at coachhorne@gmail.com

Thank you for your time and efforts in this matter.

Sincerely,
Scott Horne
Austin, TX
Glad I was able to help figure it out...

SICARD...

si (like the musical note or like the italien say it meaning yes)
car (kind of like you would pronounce the word car, but pronounce the "a" in it the same way babies say "dada" and roll the "r" a little bit)

the "d" at the end is not pronounce...

That should bring you close to the proper pronounciation...

Re: Augustin Sicard father of Eloise
I don't know what you've found somewhere on the internet, maybe the information was incomplete, but before saying something is wrong, it needs to be check first...

Augustin was married twice and had children with both his wife, nothing really unusual there, specialy that his second wife was much younger than him...

I don't have Augustin's birth in our family database, but since his parents married in 1764, it is very possible he was born in 1787, got married the first time at approx. age 29 in 1816, he than became a widow and remarried when he was about 45 with a younger lady in 1832... had his daughter Eloïse with the second wife probably somewhere around 1840 and his daughter got married in 1862...

So, as you can see, though the time frame may seem off on the surface, it is not when you put it into context... if the mother had been the one born in 1787, than we would definatly have reason to doubt and would need to reverify all the births... but the father, not the same thing... hey I have found guy who were still having children in their early 70's

Augustin SICARD DE CARUFEL (Amable & Antoinette MARCHAND)
- m1. 1816-01-22 Maskinongé, Qc
Antoinette LAMPRON (Jean & Marie Joseph VANASSE)
- m2. 1832-10-09 St-Hughes, Qc
Marguerite LEDOUX (Jean Baptiste & Rosalie VIGNEAULT)

Amable SICARD DE CARUFEL (Jean & Marie Angélique BARON dit LUPIEN)
- m.1764-06-25 Trois-Rivières, Qc
Antoinette MARCHAND (Pierre & Marie Charlotte SAUVAGE)
