Iwould love to share information. I really do not know too much on the Siddons side of the family. They were on my Mother's side of the family. Her Mother passed when she was six months old and she was fostered out. Her maiden name was Kempf. Her Grandmother was a Siddons. They all lived in Lake City, Minnesota.

Eber Willson Siddons was my great-great-grandfather. His son Elmer Siddons was my great-grandfather. I have info on the Siddons family going back to the 1790s. Also on the Willson family going back to 1780s. Would love to share info.

Hello again!
William Siddons is on the 1841 census in England, with father and mother, and the 1851 census in Wales. He is with his mother and siblings, no father. On his wedding certificate he doesn't say his father is deceased (1855.) He states that his father is a porter merchant and his mother makes the same claim on the 1851 census. I have had contact with people who think his father is a John Siddons in Ratby Leicestershire but as there are a lot of Siddons/Seddons in the area and John is quite common I am not sure. William and Eliza married in the Methodist church in Cheltenham, the Luggs children are recorded at Bisley in the C of E church so I don't know who the methodist was.
If you look for matches to William John Siddons/Seddons on GUR I should come up as Carole. Send me a message and I'll open my tree.
I have changed my name on this site so that is why I think you might have been in touch before.
Anyway see what you think. I have copies of marriage and death certificates for William. I don't think it will be possible to find a birth record as he is pre 1837 and we can't do a parish search until we know where! Catch 22!

Hi, I had Eliza's parents info, but had not heard from you already. I am still trying to find info on Williams parents...seem to hit a dead end, and can find no definate birth confirmation for William either. Would love to see tree on gru. Always interested to see what others hae found. Not sure how I would find it though?

I am not sure if I replied, sorry if I didn't! Memory poor! I am related through Henry Augustus, Frederick's brother.
William John Siddons married Eliza Lugg. She was born in Cheltenham, parents Richard Lugg and Hannah Gardiner, they originated from Bisley in Gloucestershire. He was a baker, and sometimes a labourer.(I have a copy of their marriage certificate.)
I cannot identify Hannah exactly as there are 3 Hannah Gardiners, she may be related to the Twizzels of Bisley. Everyone was inter- married!
I have a tree on Genes reunited so please contact me and I'll open it to you.

I am also researching these people, they the are parents of my GG grandfather, Frederick. I also have William's parents names as John and Elizabeth, but seem unable to find anything further. Have you managed to find anything? And would you like to share tree's/info?

So sorry I haven't got back to you sooner, have been so busy and had a bout with the flu. My mother's maiden name was Kempf her mother's name was Ora Kempf. She married Leroy Kempf. He was from So St Paul Minn, she was from Lake City, Minn. Ora passed away when Mom was 6 months old, Ora had three sisters, Carrie, Laura and Vivian and one brother George Siddons. I believe all have passed away now. Mom passed away Dec 12, 2001, age 76. Grandpa (Leroy) Kempf remarried Bernice and they had 2 daughters, Sharon and Geraldine. Grandpa and Ora had four boys, Francis, Vernon, Wayne, Gerald and one girl (my Mom)(Elizabeth). Grandma (Ora) family was from Lake City, Minn.

My mother's maiden name was Kempf. Her father was Leroy Silas Kempf and her mother was Ora Siddons. They were from South St. Paul and Lake City, Minnesota. She died when my mom was 6 months old. She (Ora) had a brother named George Siddons and sisters Laura, Carrie and Vivian.

I'm deaf. I am Frank J. Siddon and Susan (Bates) Siddon's great-grandniece. He was born 1879 in Clinton Co., NY. He died on 1978 in NY. She died on 1973 in NY. They had a two daugthers, Iniz and Ruth. Frank J. Siddon is the son of James Siddon and Saphronia Unknown. Susan Bates is the daughter of Truman Hillard Bates and Sarah (Roberts) Bates. I have an Eber W. Siddons (born 27 Feb 1834 died 12 Mar 1924 Lake City, Minn) who married Laura Ann Carpenter (born 1837 New York City, N.Y. died 1913 Minn). They were married Nov 6, 1856 and had 6 children.

2. Mary Siddons
3. Elmer Eber Siddons
4. Nellie Siddons
5. Lilaette Siddons
6. Cora Ada Siddons

Hello to fellow Siddons researchers.
Another branch of the Siddons/Kemble family are in Australia.
Our line is through Rebecca Siddons who married Edward Corser. Their GGranddaughter was my grandmother. Her family came to Autralia around1881 via New Zealand.My Grand mother and her husband settled in Perth Western Australia at the turn of the century. I have some of the family tree from our line.

Looks like we are from the same family.I don't have a date of marriage but I have their first child being born in 1808 . Mary, my gggrandmother being born in 1810.

I have a Thomas Siddons b. in England d.8 Oct 1728 in Upper Dublin Township in Philadelphia who married a Lowry Evans b.1680 d.14 Jul 1764 in Philedelphia. They married at the North Wales Meeting House.

They had 9 children one of whom was Samuel Siddons b. ? d. 11 Jul 1742. He married Deborah Pawlee on 21 Sep 1727. They had 5 children: John, Eleanor, Anthony, Mary, and Sarah.

I am searching for info on my 5GGrMother Marguarite Siddons Halfar from England. I do not know who her Halfar husband was nor where in England she was from. In Kingston, Jamaica she married Hugh/Hugo Carr also from England. She was noted as being the "Widow Halfar".

There are several Siddons in and around Atlanta, GA. However, I am looking for information on the true derivation of the name. Some sources say "Siddons" is of Druid decent meaning DWELLER OF THE HILLS. Other sources say it is of the Orient, derived from the word "Siddhartha" meaning OF THE BUDDHA. Anyone know anything else?

Laura V. Siddons and John N. Ford were married in Baltimore on Aug. 30, 1880, by the Rev. Uriel Graves.
I find a Laura V. Siddons twice in the 1880 census in Baltimore:
Laura V., 22, tailoress, daughter of Mary F. Siddons, a widow, also living with siblings Minnie, Margaret & Sarah
Laura V., 22, tailoress, living with Stephen & Mary Alwell
Any information on Laura V. Siddons Ford and/or John N. Ford appreciated.

Hi, don't know if you know by now, that Henry who married Harriet Murray had Sarah Siddons who married an William Patrick Grant. Elizabeth Harriet Siddons who married Maj Arthur Muir and Henry Siddons who married his cousin Harriot Emma Siddons. I cannot find a Ratcliffe anywhere.

Hi! I'm hoping you can help me. My gm was a Jessie Elizabeth Siddons. Her father was supposedly a Thomas William Siddons (not certain of the first names.) Mr. Siddons' wife was Harriette Caroline Hentig. I can take the Hentig branch back 2 more gens, but I'm stuck at Siddons. I know Harriette was christened in Sarawak, Malaysia in 1849 and that her father was a planter in Singapore. I also know that Harriette and Mr. Siddons' dau Jessie (my gm) lived in Singapore in the early 1900s. Do you have any info at all about a Siddons marrying a Hentig and/or anything about Siddons in Singapore/Malaysia? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.Thanks! Jane

It struck me after I sent my initial e-mail. . .you are named after your grandmother "Peggy." My Uncle Kenneth (Siddons) was married to a gal named "Peggy." The last time I saw Kenny was probably in 1961 or '62.

My husbands father was William Siddons b.1936 d. 1985 in texas. I am not sure if them are the exact dates or not but I found it in the ss death index. This is all we know about him except prior to goin to Texas he lived in Michigan, where he was married to my mother n law.I believe he had worked for a telephone company while residing here in Michigan. I don't know if this will be of any help to you but I am curious to know if my husband has any relatives in the Siddons name.

I have been tracing the Kemble line and have ancestors that went to New Zealand (Tasmania/Auckland) around 1870's and also then went on to Australia, Sydney. Are there any connections with you. They originally came from Paddington/Shoreditch, London England. I will post names if I have any come back.
