I do not know where the family came from before LaCrosse, all that information was lost when the family moved. We think the family name was changed from Seila to Sila some time in the mid 1800's

Could we be related. I was told that all the Sila Family in Czechoslavokia (Moravia) died out. Grandparents immigrated in 1923, my father(their son) Louis Sila was 5 at the time and his name is listed at Ellis Island. He married Albina Ptachick (Ptacek originally) in 1949 and had 3 kids. Originally pa lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa then moved to So. Calif.

All my mother's brothers (my uncles) are deceased. One Uncle was writing to Trieste early 1990 to some female cousins in the family, but these women never married and were quite old at the time, now posssibly deceased. I have a letter filed (somewhere) with their names and addresses. I am unsure of the first names of my grandparents from Trieste, but my grandmother's maiden (family) surname was Franco. I think, but not sure at present, her first name was Thaddea??

I am originally from La Crosse, Wis., and my grandfather's name is Lloyd Sila (not the one from the West Coast that I've found while researching).
Lloyd might have been from Minneapolis, Minn., but lived for many years in Onalaska, Wis., which is a suburb of La Crosse.
Lloyd first married Lila Secord; they divorced. They had one son, Allan, who is my father.
He later married Lois Blanchar; they didn't have any children.
I am trying to find out more about my grandparents and great-grandparents.
If any Silas know anything about my grandfather or would like to ask me questions, please e-mail me.
Thank you!
