I'm looking for a James SIMEON, born in Louisiana c. 1897, moved to Los Angeles and married c. 1928 there. Wife, Adela.
On the 1930 Census, he was a clerk on the Steam Railroad.

Frank Ohnsat was my g-grandfather on my mom's side. My grandmother was Mary Simeon (daughter of Frank Ohnsat) who was married to Alex Simeon. My mother is one of their children, Alberta Simeon Heffron (born 1934). They had 3 biological children (Alberta, Fred and John) and two adopted children from close relatives (Wanda Jean and Don- both are now deceased). Mary Ohnsat married Alex in Tipton Kansas and moved to Anaheim CA when Alberta was just a child around 1940.
The parent of Alex Simeon (actually it is Alexious) were Peter Simeon Jr and Bertha Krobst (she died 1949 in Tipton, KS). Peter's parents were Peter Simeon Sr and Anna Zillig (I have several spelling variations).I've seen in posts that they had another child other than Peter Jr, named Catherine who married Albert Henning. Bertha Krobst parents were Michael Krobst and Rosalia Henning.

Frank Ohnsat (born 1879, died 1962) was married to Apolonia Streit (born 1883, died 1947) resided in Tipton, Kansas. Frank's parents were John Robert Ohnsat (born 1835) and Leopoldena Sallinger (born 1833.) Apolonia's parents were Henry Streit and Anna Marie Schmitz (sorry no dates). Henry Streit's parents were Johann Streit and Anna Dahm (I will double-check her name). Anna Marie Schmitz's parents were Johann Schmitz and Regina Fey.
This is just about all I have other than some children of some of the above and a few dates. Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional info that could be useful to me or if you want more of those remaining details.

I just came across your post from 2002 so I'm not sure if you'll get this but Mary Ohnsat Simeon(daughter of Frank and Apolonia Ohnsat)was my grandmother. Her biological daughter, Alberta is my mother (Wanda Jean was a niece, I believe, who was adopted as a young child).

If you are still interested in this family tree, I would be happy to share the info that I have from family conversations and searches. I can go back several generations past Frank Ohnsat. I would appreciate any info that you might have that I do not.

Philip Simeon is a brother to John Jacob Simeon, my husband's great grandfather. It is a large family with 12 more siblings. I have done some research on this family, but have not entered the info on ancestry yet. I'd love to collaborate with you.

It may be possible that we are related. Here's the line, my father, Albert Simeon Cote, his mother Aurelia Simeon, her mother, Julia McNamara who married John Joseph Xavier Simeon, his father is Xavier Simeon who married Mary Horn. The earliest residence date is 1871 on Perdido and Bertrand St. in New Orleans. Xavier came from france and mary horn came from Ireland. Mary Horn is buried in the St. Joseph cemetery in NO, LA along with her son, John joseph. The name John, James and Joseph carried on with the family.
It is possible that your family line is related to Xavier Simeon. As they immigrated to New Orleans during that time period and it is possible he had other family members with him. Let me know what you find.
You can look at my family tree, it is under the name Cote Family, just follow the name cote and simeon. They are still many simeon's living in new orleans, Hal Simeon and Albert Simeon, Jr.

I did not receive your email! The names do not seem to be familiar. What was the time period? My relatives lived for a time in New Orleans in the 1870s and then moved to Livingston Parish, LA. They were James Joseph and Mary St. Clair Simeon.

I just saw the Simeon thread on Ancestry.com. My family was also a descendant from the Simeon's in Louisiana. My father was Albert Simeon Cote, his mother was Aurelia Simeon and her father was John J. Simeon. John Simeon was the head druggist in Charity Hospital in new Orleans and had a drug store on Canal Street where my grandfather, Wilfred Cote fell in love and married Aurelia Simeon.

Name should be Phillip John Simeon b. 1880. His wife's maiden name appears to be: Ida Belle Krudwig.

Peter is the son of John and Anna Catherine (Schneider) Simeon. He married Ida Belle (maiden name unk.) about 1903 in Iowa. I would very much like to find out her maiden name. If anyone has any information on this family, would like to hear from them. All help greatly appreciated.

John was b. in Prussia and immigrated to America in 1864.
He married shortly after Anna Catherine Schneider (b. 1842 in Pa.). They had several children (14 it is said) all b. in Iowa.
I am looking for this family in the 1870 census records. If anyone has any information on this family or knows where they were in 1870, I would sure appreciate hearing from them.

There seem to be so few Simeon clans, I couldn't help but respond. I am a descendant of Joseph Simeon, b. 1810, UK according to family history. He had settled in Livingston Parish, LA, USA, by 1840 and reared his family there. I know nothing about his parents nor his death. Good luck.

Rose Simeon was my great aunt. Her mother was Mary Jane St. Clair Simeon and father was James K. Polk Simeon. They lived in Livingston Parish in the Springfield areea. Rose was born Sept. 15, 1878 in New Orleans and died July 30, 1956. Please return with email to sebernard@aol.com

I am replying to your posting of Simeon information from Tipton. I am researching the Ohnsat family, and a daughter of Frank Ohnsat married Alex Simeon of Tipton. They had 1 daughter that I know of (Vonda Jane).

However, I am very interested in going to the generations before Frank Ohnsat. His parents were Robert John Ohnsat and Leopoldine Sallinger from Germany. To this day, the information I have about their origins is conflicting. Do you have any assisting information?

Regarding the postings of Simeon information from Tipton. I am researching the Ohnsat family, and Mary Isabelle OHNSAT, a daughter of Frank Ohnsat of TIpton, married Alex SIMEON of Tipton. They had 2 daughters and 3 sons that I know of : Wanda Jean (aka Vonda Jane), Alberta, Donald, Fred, and John.

Any additional information is welcome!

I am also interested in the generations before Frank Ohnsat. His parents were Robert John Ohnsat and Leopoldine Sallinger from Germany, who resided some time in Pittsburgh PA, perhaps married there, and settled in Osborne co. Kansas near Tipton in 1879-80.
