Hi

Selina Emma Dear was my gt gt aunt, the daughter of Selina Harriet Ulrich who married Frederick George Dear, they were my gt gt grandparents. If you search under public member trees, typing in Ellis Hooke Simons, you will find a fair amount of info some is mine, not yet finished, and some are by various 4th cousins twice removed etc. There is also a lot of info on the Ulrichs, they were of German/Danish descent.

Ellis's will is also on Ancestry.
Do you have any photos of Selina, I have found a lot of relatives on Ancestry but none have photos. We must be cousins then not sure how to work it out.

Denise

I have just recently subscribed to Ancestry.ca so am new to all of this. My brother, Frank, googled their names and found this link to you.

Simons/Simmons, Heron/Herron, Pollard from Ontario Canada

Hi,
Trying to find Simons/Simmons of German/Pennsylvanian Deutsch descent.

Mary Simons of Toronto Township married Patrick Heron, widower, on June 15, 1837 Home District in Ontario. One of the witnesses was Joshua Pollard. Simons/Heron is my direct line.

Sarah Simmons marries a William Pollard. I think William is most likely a brother or possibly son of the above mentioned Joshua Pollard. This is not my direct line, so I don't have any details of this marriage. I am looking at information on other persons trees.

Mary Simons is born circa 1806-1810 in Canada, according to census records. She is of German origins according to the 1871 census. They have a son whom they name Patrick Sylvester Heron, called Sylvester.

Sarah Simmons is born May 4 1810 in Canada. She is of German origins. They have a son whom they name Sylvester Dyer Pollard.

Are Simons & Simmons the same name spelled differently by different people? I'd like to find out.

Any information is appreciated.

Thanks,
Lisa

Would that be Alfred Montagu Simons b 1870? Father Henry Simons, and I think the family moved to Canada between 1881 and 1891?
If so I have information on Henry and can take the Simons line back some way for you, although I think you have the wrong line of descent for him: looks like we need to launch a discussion on this, and see what comes out of it.
I suggest we use the Ancestry messaging system as it'll get complex!

Graham

Do you by chance have any information on Peter? The brother? I also have a THOUGHT that maybe my family tree is connected. My grandfather was amish and went by the last name simmons.. or Simons, I can't recall if there are two m's or not. But most amish last names I believe were simons.. I was told that my grandfather changed his last name to SICKLER when he was kicked out for having a deaf child... Do you know anything about this or have any ability to help me out? I have a Peter sickler whom had a child named Gilbert Sickler. Everything ends here. I maybe THINK that PERHAPS Peter is related in some way shape or form? Perhaps I'm completely wrong, Just a question I do suppose!!!! Peter's birth is estimated in the mid 17oo's... So... Perhaps I'm completely WRONG!!! Let me know!! Thanks!

Lois:
Sorry to be so late in discovering your reply.
I have the information you have related:
I am trying to find out if IRA SIMONS m;HARRIET BOYCE in DANE CO.
From all my research HARRIET's father (Abram Asa Boyce) died in 1931, And her mothr SARAH TOWNE BOYCE moved to GENNESEE Co., Alabama Twp, as 1840 census showes.Shortly after SARAH moved to Vienna, Dane Co., Wisc.
Thus I believe they were m; in Wisc.
HARRIET's Brother (Abram Asa Boyce moved to Dane Co, prior to his mother arriving.
Biographical Review of Dane Co, relates a bit of this history.
It relates that ABRAM ASA resided April 1847(Is incorrect I think) as Abram's brother in Law Harvey P. Wheaton came in 1842 and HARVEY and IRA ALLEN SIMONS owned land together.
I have not been able to locate HARVEY WHEATON in later Census.
IRA and Family stayed in Dane Co. until some tine b/4 1870
as in 1870 IRA is in HOWARD CO., Missouri, and a THOMAS H SIMONS 67 yrs is presumed to be his father ???
I am researching a THomas SIMMONS in GALWAY, Satatoga, NY a as this the only THOMAS I have found in that time frame.
I don't know if there is any way to confirm these thoughts as of now, So if You might have a thought on this information I would be most gratful
Richard
neta2@comcast.net

Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I replaced my computer, which required me to replace my Family Tree Maker, and the new version has more bells and whistles than I can figure out.

I am starting to dig back into my genealogy research, but I have to do some filing and get up to speed on everything. Are you actively researching or just following the boards?

I still have not found William R. Simons' parents' names yet. This is probably a dead end, but I keep trying. You say you descend from Earl, the one who married Pearl Hull in 1907? The only child I have for them is W. Harold Simons. Is that you or your father?

Don't know of any in Ill. My Dad was born in 1912. He had 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Ohe brother died at the age of 16. The last sister passed away about a year ago. His father was James Samuel and his mother was Iona M Mitchell. Will have to look up other info as it has been a while since I worked with it and the memory doesn't work that well anymore. Your dates for Wm Riley sound about right.

A new computer in June meant a new FTM and I have to relearn everything!

This is the first time I have heard William Riley Simons' mother being named Elizabeth Mann as a possibility. I have heard Elizabeth Lawrene from the few others out there researching this family.

Did your James Samuel Simons and decendants pretty much stay in Illinois or Missouri? Thanks for providing the names of his decendants. I'm hopeful to run into someone also researching.

Thanks for posting!

Who was your grandfather James Samuel Simon's mother? William Riley was married three times-- I don't remember the name of his first wife, but his second wife was Mary Ann Sprague and his third wife was Minnette Sprague.

William Riley had nine children with Minnette. I think two died in infancy, and the other seven were Emma, Earl, Mamie, Lizzie, Eva, Willie and Eunice. I'm descended from Earl...

The real question I have for you is if you have any information on William's parents? No one seems to have any information on who they were, although I've heard his mother's name was Elizabeth.
