We are trying very hard to discover more about George who married Joan Wilkinson on 24th Aug 1629 at Ruddington, Nottinghamshire. Can anyone help us find his parents?

Hi Jackie,
I came across Selina Fanny Skillington died in Dumbarton Scotland 26/12/1948 married to a William Docherty.
Her death certificate shows a 1st marriage to an Archibald Mackie I am unable to find either of these marriages.She was born Qtr March 1881 Lincoln England,I can find her in both 1881 and 1901 England census then nothing.I suspect she could have married a William Blummitt in 1901,he might have died in 1924.Does this ring any bells.

No, I'm sorry, the tree is not on Ancestry at the moment, but I can have it online within a couple of days.

The Skillington's were not part of my family, they are part of my fiance's. I had just done the research for him. I asked him if he minded if we put it on here and he said no, but I want to do it under his name and he isn't going to be able to get to it today.

The furthest back I have the Skillingtons is with James Skillington born in 1809 in Wilmington, Delaware, USA.

I'll put a short note on here once we get the tree online to let you know.

I've done some research on the Skillington line that is in Pennsylvania, USA. Specifically the Robert M Skillington family.

Clarissa is my 3rd great grandmother. She is buried in the Hargrove Cemetery in Flat Creek, Williamson County, TN along with husband, Bennett (Jr) and Lou Dicey Skillington. From various sources, I believe Lou Dicey to be the mother rather than the father. Date of death is July 26, 1875.

In my search, I found a family listing of "Skellington".

Will share what little information I have.

Clarissa married Bennett Hargrove. Their daughter Anna married James Ervin in TN. James and Anna had a son,William H. He was first married to a Susan but then married Clemmie Etheridge. Is anyone tracing Skillingtons from the tiny county of Rutland England Uk? Ann Skillington married William Heads in 1735 at Thurlby in Lincolnshire, but did she come from Rutland, just over the county boundary?

I am a descendent of Clarissa and Bennett
Hargrove through their daughter Mary Jane
Hargrove. My sister I and 2 of our cousins
are all trying to figure out the Dicey mystery.
We have just recently come across information
that Dicey Skillington may not have been
Clarissa's father, in fact Dicey Skillington
may have been a woman named Ludica Skillington
possibly an aunt who was given guardianship
of Clarissa and her 3 siblings when they became
orphens. A George Whithorn was given joint
custody with Dicey by the Williamson Co. TN.
court in 1823. We are also looking for two
brothers, John Joseph Skillington, one of
whom may have been the Father of Clarissa and
the other three children. We are pretty sure
of Dicey's sex because John A. Skillington, one
of the kids, had a 60 year old female living
in his household in the 1840 Marshall Co. TN.
census and Elizabeth Skillington another of the
kids had a 70 year old female living in her
home in the 1850 Marshall Co. Tn. census.
The name of the female was Ludica Skilleton.
The age would be right for Dicey who was born
in 1780. We are now wondering if Skillington
was Dicey's married or maiden name and if she
might have been married to the Skillington
brother who was not the father of the
children. Hope this helps, I'll check this
forum for messages in case you have other
questions, and keep you posted on anything
we find out.

I have an ancestor, Clarissa Skillington, born
April 24, 1804 in North Carolina. Her father
was Dicey Skillington or Lou Dicey Skillington
who was born in 1780 and died Jan. 26, 1875.
She had a brother John A. Skillington, two
sisters, Cynthia and Elizabeth. She married
Bennett Hargrove, Jr., March 9, 1826 in
Williamson County, Tennessee. Do you have
any information on this branch of the family.
