Slinker or Schlinker

I am wondering if these Slinker's from KY are related to me. I know that my dad's great uncles lived in the Glasgow, KY area and did spell their last name Slinker and not Schlinker. My dad's name was George Eugene Schlinker (was called Eugene or Gene by family in the KY area)and I also know there were relatives in the Southern IN area. I was also told that another group of Schlinkers spelled the name Slenker or Schlenker not sure which. I grew up not knowing my dad's family, but did have the chance to meet some when I was 10yrs old back in 1970 for one day. If anyone has anymore info to give me it would be appreciated.

I was born in 1964 in Florida. My birth father is James Donald Slinker who lives in Texas. I met him 1989 but he is not willing to acknowledge me or have a DNA to prove one way or another. His twin brother was Ronald Slinker, the wrestler. I have found children, sister, nieces and nephews on Facebook but don't even know my grandparents and nobody will help. Any information would be great.

I knew a James Slinker that married Marge and his brother Bob married Pauline. James and Marge had a daughter named Pamela and a son named Steve. Bob and Pauline had a daughter named Mary, and two sons, Glen and John. James and Marge were married in Kansas and I'm not sure where Bob and Pauline were married. Probably not the same people, but wanted to check.

Hi,

I am researching America J. Ford born about 1826 in Kentucky
and died after 1860 in possibly Green Co, Kentucky. She was tthe 1st wife of Daniel Murphy Slinker 1824-?

Have you looked at the 1870 Census for Edmonson Co, Kentucky? It is under D.M. Slinker.
May be that might help.

P.S. America J. Ford and Daniel Slinker are my 5th great-aunt and uncle.

Good Luck,

Kendra McCormick

You said he had a son, Steve. Do you by chance know when the son was born? Recently started looking into family history because before my dad passed he told me things I had never known. He was adopted (I'm not sure at what age) and took his adopted father's name. He did tell me his last name was Slinker. His passing was relatively quick and I was never able to ask him particular questions. I never learned his biological father's name but his mother's name is Naida. His full name was James Stephen Hamann, but he did go by the nickname of Steve. I would love to hear from you and try to get this figured out. My brother and I are wanting to find the answers to the questions we never got to ask him.

I have been searching German records on microfilm from the Latter-Day Saints. I believe I have ordered the wrong film number, because I had only found 1 Christopher's birth record and not the other 3 Schlencker's who came on the Ship Leathley. I can't read German handwriting, but the LDS gave me a name of someone who is going to help me. If you have a microfilm number that I can order, it would really help me to find them. Not knowing exactly what area of Germany they came from, I ordered 1 area in Germany first with no luck. I am planning on ordering every area in Germany to try to find them all. I have this thought since I started that just because they got on the ship in Hamburg, Germany, doesn't mean they were born there. They could have traveled from other parts of Germany. I'll keep looking until I find the originals. I have also been searching for Katherine and Christopher's marriage. Some have Katherine as a Corley and some have her as a Reichelderfer (sp?). I have always thought she may be a Corley because of the Corleys mentioned in Christopher's will. I have been purchasing as many original documents that I can and I am willing to pay for any info you have found on Christopher and Katherine and his birth record. I am very curious of where our 4 Schlencker men came from, and so is my grandchildren.
Thanks for any info you can help me with it will be greatly appreciated. Ordering the correct film # would be great.

Patty (Hammack)Handley
mammawhandley@yahoo.com
I am the great-granddaughter of Paschal Perry Slinker aka Sinclair, (son of Liberty and Esther) and Mary Ellen Hix (daughter of William Hix and Almeda Spears).

Hit the wrong button again. Researching Milley Slinker and Barnett Payne, along with the whole Schlencker family. I found this information in the Encyclopedia.
Finishing the first post of American Law, page 436.
In the book that I mentioned above, in the 1800s the legal age for a female to marry was as low as 12 years old, but there is no mention of how old a male could be to marry at that time.
I know in past traditions (knowledge from a 94 year old woman), when a female starts the "woman's cycle", she is considered to be a woman and old enough to marry and children whether she is 10 or 12 years of age. When a male gets to puberty no matter what his age is, he is also ready for marriage and to begin a family.
With this in mind, this has helped me to determine about what year a female ancestor had started a family.
This book was located in my local public library.
I hope this will help others. And those who are looking for Milley and Barnett's children, it could be possible that she had children at age 12. I haven't found all of their children yet, but working on finding birth records.

Patty
mammawhandley@yahoo.com

Hi,

I am taking a chance that you are still active on this site. Anyway, I am trying to find the father/mother of Isaiah G(reen) Slinker, born 1818. His wife was Ailcie Ann Prewett. I think he may be a son of Frederick Slinker but can find no proof of the connection. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Barnett Payne was my GGGrandfather. He also was with Jane Martin in the 1700's. We are unable to find any information on her family. We have found a marriage bond that was posted for them to be married. In your research, were you able to find out information on Jane? Maybe Jane was her middle name? Barnett and Jane had quite a few children. we also believe that Jane and Barnett may never have married?

Any information you can give me would be very much appreciated.

Thank you

Leigh

Thanks. It is my understanding that they came from Hamberg, Germany around 1735. I visited with the Slinkers in Glasglow, KY several years ago. They are of the Mormon faith and have done a lot of work on the KY branch. They were hoping to trace the family history in Germany. Don't know if they ever did. From them I learned that one of the KY branch became a dentist and practiced in IL and changed his name to Sinclair.

Les

Phyllis Ruth Perry Slinker died in Chandler, Arizona, on Friday, June 3, 2005. Phyllis, one of eight children born to Rex and Ruth Perry, was born in Alliance, Nebraska, on April 4, 1935.

The family lived in Nebraska and Arkansas before settling in Turlock, California in the 1940's. Phyllis graduated from Turlock High School in 1952. She married Donald Slinker soon out of high school and moved with him to Germany where he was stationed in the United States Army. In 1959, Don and Phyllis moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where they raised their children. Phyllis retired from Motorola in 1996.

In midlife, Phyllis discovered her athletic abilities and to date had run 89 marathons and participated in countless bike rides, runs, and other activities. In 2003, the El Tour de Phoenix, which benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, was dedicated to her and Jack Spikes as an accomplished cycling and marathon couple.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, Rex, her husband, Don, and two brothers, John and Loren.

As a final act of generosity, Phyllis donated her body to the University of Arizona, in Tucson, for research purposes.

Donna, I hope this gets to you!

I am looking for information on Frederick Slinker's (prob s/o Christopher Slinker) son, Christopher (b. abt. 1800-1810) in Green County, Kentucky. Do you have any information on him? Such as who he married (prob bet 1820 and 1830)? Could he have married an Ann Tandy? or an Ann Slinker?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Carrie

More than likely. Elizabeth was a sister to John and Milly (their father was Christopher Slinker). John had a son, John. Milly had a daughter, Nancy. Those children married. They had a son, Finley, who had a son, Eugene, who had a son, William B. who married my great grandmother, Eula. So that could make us distant cousins.

My ggggrandfather Thomas Martin married Elizabeth Slinker. Elizabeth's father was Christopher Slinker from Hawkins County Tennessee. I understand the Slinker children were in Barren County Kentucky and Green County. Are we related by any chance?

Please email me.

Yes, Frederick was the father of Henry (and many others). Henry married Susannah Biggs. But Frederick also had a son named Frederick.

Seems like a lot of us have visited the Green County Library.

If anyone has anything prior to Christopher Slinker (father of Frederick)I'd really be interested.
