I'm currently trying to sort out the Wilkinsons of Patrington. Easington, Holmpton (no easy matter!) but I have just come across Fred Smales, born Patrington, 1841, and Fred William Smales, born 1862. Fred William was staying at an address in Hull I'm interested in, in the 1901 census, and is listed as nephew of Elizabeth Lonsdale, who I'm trying to establish was a Wilkinson of the right line. Don't know if these Smales help you at all.

SMALES, Ethel

My mother's paternal grandmother was Ethel Smales. She was from Pennsylvania. It is believed that she was at least part native American. She was married to Thomas B. Thomas and had 4 children, John, Betty, Evan, and George (I believe that is all). If anyone has any information please let me know!!!

Thanks!
Vicki

SMALES

My name is Sophia Smales. My heritage is Greek. My grandfather changed his name from "Franciscus" to Smales when he came to US about 125 years ago. However, his brother's name was Smales and after coming here to US went by the name of Smales Smales. I do not know where the name came from. Even if my grandfather changed his last name, I wonder where the Smales name came from being that that was his brother's first name. My grandmother was Sophia and both grandparents were Greek. I have reason to belive that my grandfather may have had Turkish background. Any feedback would be appreciated. I can only go as far back as my grandfather.

Smales, Sydney

I am looking for information about my paternal grandfather. He was supposed to have been born aboard ship in Australia (1880's ?)
He married Vera Bickerton in 1929 and again in 1952. He had one son Charles Gerald who changed his name to Bickerton. He also had at least one sibling, Art, who I think I met and I was born in 1953.
Syd was a bricklayer in British Columbia and was in the Air Force in WWI. He was also a terrific piano player.
If any of this rings a bell, I would love to hear about him or his history.

Hi, i'm not American, I'm from Australia, but many years ago a Smales from our family migrated to America (from England). His name was Joseph (born 1885), apparently he married an Alice, and had two children that we know of, Marion and Lillian. If this means anything to you I'd love to hear from you as I am also searching for family. (I also have just posted a message in Ancestry, which explains more).
Mick

looking for SMALES

Hello, I'm a Smales living in Melbourne, Australia. My father (Ken) migrated here in 1952 (at the age of 11, from Rodley, Leeds, England) with his father Joseph (born 1915), mother Anastasia, brother David and sisters Valerie and Maureen. Joseph's father was Harry (born around 1889) and mother Lillian. I am after any information on the parents of Harry (who had a brother Joseph born 1885, who migrated to America). Also as far as we can work out, Harry's father had a brother, who married and had children Douglas and Phillip Smales. Any information prior to Harry would be greatfully appreciated.
Yours sincerely...............Mick
