JOHN WHITTAKER6 WILLIAMSON was born September 29, 1805 in Chapel St. Salford, Lancs the son of SAMUEL WILLIAMSON (Bapt Eccles & Salford Trinity), and died April 6, 1867 in Chapel St. Salford, Lancs. He married ALICE SMETHURST April 27, 1831 in Manchester Cathedral, Lancs.. She was born September 3, 1806 in Salford, Lancs, the daughter of RICHARD SMETHURST and died April 9, 1862 in Chapel St. Salford, Lancs. Announcement of Marriage appeared in the Manchester Guardian on Apr 30 1831. JOHN WHITTAKER shown as Church Warden of Salford Trinity in 1839 and a 'Guardian of the Poor' on the 1851 & 1861 Census Returns. In his will of 8 Oct 1860 Alice is named Executrix but a codicil of 1867 names Samuel BOWKER (neice's husband) as Executor. Son-in-Law EDWARD FOLDS (87 Chapel St) registered the death.

Buried in Eccles the vicar of Salford Trinity (Edward Allen) performed the internment. In the same plot were Alice, sons John Whittaker, Robert, Edwin Bowker and grandson Robert Williamson Orrell. Cause of Death: Softening of the Cerebellum. John's occupation: Grocer/Tea Dealer
Alice's death registered by daughter Emma (6 Park View Broughton). Buried in Eccles the Vicar of Salford Trinity (R N Pocklington) performed the internment. In the same plot were brother Henry, Samuel Slaney and grandson Robert Henry (s/o of Samuel Williamson & Harriet Buckley). Cause of Death: Phthisis Pulmonalis
