I am looking for parents of Solomon and Andrew Snider both born in the mid to late 1700's in Pennsylvania or Virginia. Came to Illinois in very early 1800's. Both had a Snider family birthmark. Solomon settled in Franklin County, IL.

I had read at one time that the mark had to do with a “roughness” in the palm.

I have a condition known as Dupuytren’s Contracture that presents itself as course bumps in the palm at the base of the little finger or ring finger and can eventually contract the fingers toward the palm. I am told it is a genetic disease of people of Northern European descent and is also know as Viking’s Disease.

My two brothers have it also.

I wonder if it’s the Snider mark.

I am researching Kirk and Elliott line in Southern Illinois and noticed that John Snider, son of Solomon married a Nancy Elliott in Franklin county Illinois in 1837. Do you have any info. on Nancy?

I am very interested to learn what information you have gathered concerning Solomon Snider and his descendents. Of particular interest is the infamous "birthmark" as I believe some in my family carry this same birthmark.

I have Solomon Snider b.8 jul 1787 Frederick County, MD d. aft 1850 Crawford County, AR md Jane Davidson 28 oct 1809 Botetourt County, VA. Is this the one you are interested in?
