Hansel E Snively, b.1894 & Flossie Opal Young Guice, b.abt1894, lived Vermillion Co., IL

I have an original postcard photo of Hansel and Flossie Snively, parents with newborn baby Maxine, taken in 1914, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Parents look to be about 19-20 years old.

I found Hansel E. and Flossie Snively in the 1920 census for Vermillion Co., IL, showing they were parents of Dorothy J., age 4 (and no Maxine); and in 1930 census, they had Dorothy, age 14, and Robert E., 9. Ancestry Public Member Tree shows Maxine Opal Snively, born 11 July 1914, died 11 July 1916, daughter of Hansel Earl Snively and Flossie Opal Young Guice.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to this Snively family.

I only have what is in the book on Snivleys by Washurn. I sent letters out and was unable to find a reservation in that area. I would like to see if anyone else has something more on her. All records I do find on Amy has her born after she was married.

I just spent a week in Salt Lake City at the Genealogy Conferance. This was my 5th trip to Salt Lake City doing research. While there I spent quite a bit of time looking for information on Amy Wilkerson and Indian records. I found nothing on Amy Wilkerson. I found an Indian School at Carlisle, Penn., but it was established after the time frame where Amy could have been there. Does anyone know where this Indian girl story came from? I corresponded with Elizabeth Washurn before she put her book together. I did not know she was going to use any of the information in the book or I would have given her more Snively information.

This is my first venture into a forum like this. I am responding to Madeline Snively's post. My great grandfather was George Hibbert Snively, born in La Paz, Indiana in 1890. I found your post while trying to find information on his parents. I do not know if they were John and Malissa, but the information on the other post listing that he married "Ethel Cha" and named his "7 children" matches my family for the most part. George H. married my grandmother, Ethel Charlotte Lindberg, in 1910 in Wisconsin. George A was my father, and my aunties and uncles were John, Donald "Bud", Bernard "Skeez", Garth, Ethel Irene "Rene", Bertha, as well as the youngest, Jesse and Rodger. They have all passed on except for Jess and Bert, and my visit with Jess this evening is what got me started on this research. I don't know if this is the kind of information you are looking for, but hopefully we can exchange some information.

Thank you, Linda Snively Brown.

My husband is descended from David Snavely, Sr. who was the sixth child of Johann and Elizabeth. I have been to the cemetary. I also have a copy of Chapter 19:Descendants of Johann Schnebeli of Schaefferstown, from the book. However, none of David's family are listed, probably because they moved to Oceola, Crawford County, Ohio. David married 1st Catherine Dohner and had 9 children, 2nd Mary Mollenkopf and had 8 children. We live in Crawford County and know several of the descendants.
Chapter 6 in the book, Snively, Snavely the Swiss Ancestors and American Descendants of Johan Jacob Schnebele is all about this family. It has his ancestors, but none of his descendants. It says he was born in 1842 and married Jane McC. Morrison. Died bef. 1883 and that he was a physician in Pittsburgh, Pa. It has all of his siblings and some of their descendants as well. He is on page 171. This book is out of print, but you can go to a library and they may be able to get it for you. Also the Mennonite Historical Society in Lancaster, Pa. has 2 of them.

I am looking for any information on the family of Jacob Snively. He born in Germany in 1792 and was married to Catherine Weber. Their sons were Frederic, Jacob and John. In 1850, they settled in Elk Twp. My family descends from Frederic whose children Emmanuel, Uriah and Mary ended up in Salem Township.

I have heard about a book called "Walking Among Our Ancestors, Cemetery Inscriptions of Clarion County, Ashland Township." Some Snivelys are buried there. Does anyone know of a library with a copy.
