Their children include: Nancy Emeline, Amanda C, William R, Henry Albert and Joseph Madison LYNCH. They were born between 1859 and 1867.
This is in response to your 2008 inquiry:
Charles William Snodgrass is my great-grandfather. He was a commercial landscape painter, born in Indiana, possibly Shelbyville. He died in 1955 and is buried in Earlham Cemetery in Richmond. His daughter, Helen Maurine Graham, nee Snodgrass, was my paternal grandmother. I know she was born in Shelbyville in 1899; also buried in Richmond. He also had a son, Duane, Born in 1910. He died in 1950 in Cincinnati, Ohio. I believe he is also buried in Richmond.

Sorry I didn't see your post until now. Hope this information helps.

Jim Swalley

I know most of the threewit side. your great grandfather was my grandmothers brother, his daughter IVY BAER WAS CHARATER. SHE WAS FUN TO BE AROUND. She was a mountain women she took hunting parties hunting. In the back of her house she had cages that she fattened pheasant, quail. She had two 6 ft freezers stuffed with every wiled game. we always ate well when we visited. Sadie was my aunt, but we never called her Sadie we called her thelma.

Judy:

I do not recall if I replied to you. If not, I apologize and would be glad to exchange information. It appears that we both descend from George SNODGRASS through his son Samuel Henry and Elizabeth CAMPBELL; however, according to my information Samuel is the son of George and his first (or second) wife Mary Elizabeth HENDERSON, who died in 1845/46. Unfortunately, I have not had any success in identifying George's parents; however, I continue to investigate.

ALF

I am the daughter of Jocephus Lee Snodgrass and Beatrice Snodgrass (Page). Leonard Martin Snodgrass and Edna Bradshaw were my Dad's parents, my grandparents. Dink and Lottie were my Dad's aunt and uncle. I was very young but I remember that grandpa was staying with us at Eunice, Wv and my older sister found him dead lying across the bed from taking a nap. Dad often talked about how hard they had it growing up because their Mom, Edna, had died and times were very rough. I think some in our family called him "Mort". Thanks for sharing your information, I find it so interesting.

I'm still working on a tree for you. I have Snodgrass family in Missouri, but not in the Iron Co., Reynolds Co., area that I know of. I created on Ancestry.com a tree for Sofronia named "Charles Snodgrass Family Tree" by D Michelle McGregor (that's me)...if Ancestry has it posted yet. I have Sofronia Sherrill Snodgrass b. 1881, married to Charles H. Snodgrass on 24 Sep 1897 and still living in the 1930 Federal Census for Lesterville, Reynolds Co., Missouri.
Is this the Sofronia Sherrill you are looking for?
I'm still searching for a date and location of death for you. We may be able to find a death certificate, but that's difficult if we don't have a date of death. But as I said...I'll keep looking.
Feel free to e-mail me directly @ wild-red@sbcglobal.net

I am not related to this family….just FYI

Greeley Tribune (Greeley, Weld Count) Dec 4, 1902 Page 6

WEDDINGS OF THE WEEK
Snodgrass-Pace
Rev. Dr. B. T. Vincent, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church performed an interesting ceremony of marriage on Thanksgiving day at the home of bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pace, 1542 Seventh Avenue.
The bride and groom were Cora Pace and Charles E. Snodgrass, both of whom were deaf mutes. The sister of the bride acted as interpreter of the minister, and thus were twain made one in a quaint but substantial fashion. Many friends of both parties were preset, and a handsome Thanksgiving dinner was served to them.

Re: William Snodgrass b Ireland or Scotland

The Montgomery and Cunninghamme clans of Ayrshire, Scotland became "undertakers" or settlers of land in northern Ireland under the Irish Plantation Plan of 1609. The land was ceded to the King James I of England by Erol Tyrone and other Irish nobility in late 1500's. The plan required the "undertakers" to resettle the Irish lands with lowland Scots from the Ayrshire region, including many Snodgrass families. Due to religious persecution, war, and other factors, many of those Snodgrass families emigrated to America during the first half of the 1700's.

William A. Snodgrass, born 1821-22, of Botetourt Co., VA

Looking for help to determine the parents of William A. Snodgrass, born ca. 1822 in Botetourt County, Virginia. William married Nancy A. Wood (daughter of William & Margaret S. Williamson Wood) in Aug 1845 in Botetourt County. William A. Snodgrass died relatively young, apparently between 1857 and 1860, as he is missing from the family in the 1860 census. His son Charles A. Snodgrass (my wife's ancestor) was three years old in the census of that year and is in a household headed by his mother Nancy Snodgrass and his grandmother Margaret S. Wood. I have looked closely at everything relevant I can get my hands on that has been published and on the Internet and I cannot figure out who William’s parents were. His full name leads me to believe there’s a close relationship to the William A. Snodgrass who died in Botetourt in 1845, the one who married Mary Nutter, but it appears the older William's sons are accounted for, at least the legitimate ones.

Perhaps William A. Snodgrass, born about 1822, was an illegitimate child, maybe the older William’s out-of-wedlock child, or one of William’s sisters??

Does anyone know where this William A. Snodgrass fits into the Snodgrass family of early Botetourt County?

Clayton Mann
Burlington, NC
Wife is Pearl Florence Snodgrass.

Grasping at straws, I see an L.D. Snodgrass in White County, TN, in the 1880 census. 39 years old. Wife Eliza, 30 years old. Daughter Eller, 2 years old.

The 1900 census in White County has a Snodgrass family headed by a 59 year old with an illegible first name. Wife Eliza age 50. Daughter Ella age 22. Son Chester 18. Daughter Pearlie 14.

1870 census in White County has LD and EJ Snodgrass, ages 29 and 20. No children.

I have no further indication that this is your family, but it might be worth checking out.

I have not been able to find his roots in Ireland and how he traveled with his family to the US. His sons were born in Ireland so I am assuming they came over as a family. I would be thankful for any additional information you might abe able to provide.
Thank you in advance
Marie

They are mainly in Texas.

Starting with my mother
Glenda Jean Snodgras born in Temple, Bell, Texas, 1938 died in Abilene, Taylor, Texas 2008. She was married to Garland Bailey in 1957 in Mexico. Lived in Midland, Texas for a while then moved to Brownwood, Brown, Texas.

Her father, LD Snodgrass born in Coleman, Coleman, Texas 1913 died in Temple, Bell, Texas 1986. According to the 1930 census he was in Temple, Bell, Texas. The Texas death index says he died in Dallas, Dallas, Texas, but he was in a nursing home in Temple when he passed away. He was married to Mary Emily Pitrucha in Temple, Texas in 1933. They had 2 daughters. Rosemary and Glenda.

His father, JD Snodgrass, born in I think Caldwell, Texas in 1885 died, according to death cert., in Waco, Texas 1955. He lived in Temple, Bell, Texas according to the 1930 census. He was married to Pearl Florence Pack 22 Jun 1904 in Batrop, Texas.

In papers that I have found of my mother's JD's father was William Parret Snodgrass, born in Texas in 1845 and died in 1895 in Texas.

Suzanne

Snodgrass Family

Hello, my mother was a Snodgrass and I know very little about them. I do know who my grandparents, and great-grandparents are, but after that not completely sure. My grandfather was LD Snodgrass, the initials, as far as we know, stood for nothing in particular. My great grandfather, LD's father, was JD Snodgrass and he was married to Pearl Florence Pack. JD and Pearl had something like 11 children, Maudie, Eura, Preston, Rosalie, JW, Helen, Harold, LD, Biddy (Vera) and James. There is one surviving child, according to my aunt, my mother's sister, James. If any of these names sound familiar to anyone please let me know!! I am really interested in finding out more on this side of my family.

While going through my grandmother's old photos, I found some of Archie and Esther Snodgrass + family. They would have lived in or near Palmer, Nebraska. Also photos of their daughters, Lois and Evelyn. I would like to pass these on to relatives.

Hello All,

Searching the IGI on FamilySearch.org I find Julia Snodgrass was christened on 26 Jun 1814 and Jane Snodgrass was christened 23 Sept 1815. Both at Derry Presbyterian Congregation, Derry township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.

I suspect their parents were Robert Henry SNODGRASS and Hannah HOGAN. Can someone help me confirm (or refute) that?

Thanks!
Les

Re: Snodgrass Family of Rose Hill, Va. (Lee County)

Hello, We may be able to help each other. My great grandfather was named Dallas Texas Snodgrass, and he was from Rose Hill, VA. He was born there in 1878. He was mixed race, and his mother was white. I have her picture. Her name was either Mary or Martha. You say that Mary was born between 1840-1850, and would have placed her in child-bearing years when my great-grandfather was born in 1878.

Family legend is that Dallas had white brothers, which leads me to believe that his mother must not have been married to a black man. Reading your post, I see Mary was not married at all.

Do you have any knowledge of your great-grandmother may have given birth to a mixed race son? My personal email address is mlk226@gmail.com. Any information you can provide would be helpful. Thanks!

Michael Kyle
