I just started researching my family's past a week ago. I spent the past weekend taking pictures in the Weddleville Cemetery. I would love to get a hold of some more information as well as photos.

If there is a Dutch, Belgian or even English connection you may want consider the variant "van Son" and "van Zon" in which there are several family arms registered at the Central Bureau of Genealogie in The Hague, Netherlands. The also have pictures of the arms and seals of these families, and information in there Muschart Collection on microfilm. One arms is blue with a gold son, another silver with 3 red mill rinds. But always do your genealogy first to verify a connection!

Will continue to look. A bit rusty have not done much research in the last year.
I will continue to look this evening.

Dear Joseph,

This is the information I have on George Sons.

George Abraham Sons married Lillian Truetner (?-1938). They had two children; Mildred (1918-1985?) and Otto (1920-?) The book I have on the Sons Family was made around 1990 and at this time Otto was still alive, I do not know if he alive or dead now.

Mildred married Erwin Meyer and resided in Crown Point, Indiana. They had three children; George, Donald, and Rochelle.

Otto married Arlain Rehborg and they lived in Crete, Illinois. They had three children; Larry, Caroll, and William.

That is about all the information I have. I hope it helps.

Andrew Sons

I'm not sure if this is the same SONS family, but Wiliam Harvey Sons, was the son of Charles Sons who also came from Germany in the 1850's. William Harvey married Ellen Keating and they had 10 children including Charles, Harvey, Harry, Everett, and Archie. They lived in Vigo County, IN and my grandfather, Harry Sons, moved to Philadelphia, where he had my father, Harry Everett Sons. As far as I know, we are the only SONS in the Northeast..

Thanks for this info! Tell me if I am right here. I have a family book written in the 1980's by a distant relative that has Mathias, Peter, Henry, Earl, and Tavia Sons in it. The book has Henry Sons' Final Certificate of Naturalization in Cook County, State of Illinois March 1873. It says he was from Prussia. The book then maps out the spread of Henry's descendants from Chicago Heights (where my family still lives) to various parts of the country but none in Louisiana.

Mathias (October 19, 1866 - October 19, 1943) was the third child of Henry Sons(1827-1906) and Louise Havet(1846-1919). He married Elizabeth Ball(1883-1970). They had 13 children.

If this sounds right to you let me know and I can tell you more about all of their children.
