Travelling Showman!

Trying to find my great grandfather, Sidney John Sorton, married to Adelaide Shearman. Sidney was a travelling Showman but I can't trace him at all. There children were Sidney John, Carrie and Mary (twins). Sidney (my grandfather) was born in Burslem, Staffordshire in 1909 I don't know where the twins were born.
Any info will be appreciated.Thanx

i dont know why julius started using the beaver name. in the 1910 census records he is living with his father in law Frank ABernathy and he is julius sorton. but in 1930 him and mattie have children and he is julius beaver in the census records. His father was Allen Sorton and Mother Mary E(Mollie ) Long of Ivy Long district in union co. Ga. Please help if anyone can. Julius also had a sister named alma (not sure of spelling). They was believed to be in texas

debra , Verdie Ledford was my husbands aunt, She was in
the blairsville, ga. nursing home, but, she died april 27, 2004
and Vonnie Garrett her sister died April 05, 1998.

my son's grandfather is mullard beaver , who is julius f. sorton beaver son. i found in 1910 census where julius sorton was married to mattie abernathy d/on Frank abernathy and louisa pendergrass. If anyone can tell me why he started using the name beaver, i would appreciate it. Because he wa
s still Sorton when he was 23 years old and Mattie was 19.

jeanette i'm looking for any info on the sorton family they lived in chorlton on medlock man my father was ron and we think he had a brother called bill there father was james henry and there mother was ada florance any info would be appreciated

Looking for my grandfathers family name. His name was Sydney Sorton and he was born in Burslem, Staffordshire. England. He lived in Salford, mancs and married Frances Hoey. They had two sons and a daughter. I have been told that his father left this family to join the circus! Any info would be welcome.

Thanks for the info. Sally Beaver was my grandmothers sister. Joe was her brother. I think there were at least eight children altogether. I also remember visiting other brothers and sisters such as Aunt Lanche (not sure on spelling) To the best of my knowledge this Abernathy line was descended from Wales. I have a niece who is trying to research this better. All of Maddie's children have died except one. My aunt Verdie Ledford is still living in Blairsville GA in a nursing home and probably remembers Joe pretty well although sometimes she has trouble recalling things.

Lynn-check message board for message posted by Debbie Burris. Her grandfather was Julius Sorton Beaver (from Hanging Dog, NC which is just outside Murphy). Julius married into my husband's side of the family when he married Maddie Abernathy. For this line, check the descdendancy of Michael Abernathy. Maddie was my husband's grandmother's aunt. Hope this will help.

Debbie--Thanks so much for responding to my question. I know that Sally's parents were Steward Beaver and Nancy Weatherman, but that's as far back as I've gotten along that branch. I didn't Sally had any brothers or sisters, no info along that line. Sally had six children with Joe--John Henry Abernathy, Eva Estelle Abernathy, Kate Abernathy (my husband's grandmother), Stewart F. Abernathy, Paul Bernell Abernathy and Joseph Perry Abernathy. Sally died July 2, 1926. Any other info you may have going back on Sally's side, I would really appreciate and will send you anything I have. Have some more info for you although it regards Maddie Abernathy. My husband's family is in the Abernathy line. His great-grandfather was Joseph Montville Abernathy who is Maddie's brother. I found the link through Ancestry.com. You can research this line by going to The Michael Abernathy Family (that was Maddie's great-grandfather). I hope this is of help to you. Karen Chester

Am researching my husband's family tree. His family is from around Murphy, NC (near Hanging Dog). His great-grandfather was Joseph Abernathy who was married to a Sally Beaver. Any relation??
