Calling all Alfred Southall - strangman Grubb- Barrow Cadbury.

My Mum has the memoirs of Alfred Southall from Edgbaston who was married to Anna strangman Grubb. The private book is in very good condition and has the Original calling card of Barrow Cadbury obviously left inside (Cadbury chocolate people ) . Barrow Cadbury was married to Geraldine Southall . It has photographs that are tissue covered, a family tree at the back and day to day life including memoirs of visits of Barrow Cadbury .The book is a facinating account of his daily life - i believe his daughter married a Cadbury . The book was a private printing for family and tells of tales of a Charles Dickens private readings outing . Alfred Southall was the cousin of the famous quaker artist Joseph Southall who is mentioned in the book. Rowntrees are mentioned , Barrow Cadbury , Elisabeth Fry
The book has many chapters of every part of his life from family holidays to buisness life and noteable charactors in his life .
Please contact me via message if this relates to yourselves.

Harriet Annie Southall

I am trying to research about my great gran on my dad's family tree. Her name was Harriet Annie Southall and she was born 15th October 1901 in the Parish of St George, County of Manchester. She was born at 21 Montague Street. Her mother's name was Rose Southall formerly Smith and her father's name was John or George Southall not 100% sure which as one name is on the birth certificate and the other is on her marriage certificate. Either way her father was deceased when her birth was registered. My dad was always told great gran was an orphan but he can't be 100% sure of it. I am looking for any information to help me find out what happened to my great gran between 1901 and 1925 as I cannot find any information on her.

I also visited Worcester records looking for a birth for Thomas but, like you, could not find anything. I think he married on 18.11.1822 and died 25.2.1878 but do not have certificates. Perhaps you could confirm these dates. Which line are you following, my family line is with George born 1838 and married to Elizabeth Poller.

He is on the censuses as born in Rock Worcetershire around 1794.
A while back I went to St Peters in Rock and asked the vicar if ther were any records held there . He said all records were held in Worcester.
I have been to the records office in worcester but could find no trace of a baptism that fits.
Because of this and the fact that his marriage was before 1837, I have no idea who his parents or siblings were.
I have information on his marriage and his children and also I have a copy of his death certificate.
I'm trying to get copies of any photographs of Lloyd Ray Southall. He is my father and I was less than two years old when he died. When I was a child, we had a house fire and most of our photographs were burned. I have three photos of Dad, but I would like to get more. I would also like to get some stories about him (what he was like, some of his favorite things, etc.) I know very little about him and am very curious.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My name is Richard Southall. Lloyd Ray Southall (1916-1973)was my father. I have been able to do some research on the family history, but seem to have met a dead end.

Here's what I've got:
Harvey Austin Southall (father of Lloyd Ray)1868-1935
William H. Southall (father of Harvey Austin) 1834-1907
William A. Southall (father of William H) 1806-1880
James Barrett Southall (Father of William A) 1767-1814
James Southall (Father of James B.)1751-1801
James Southall (Father of James) 1718-1794 (I'm guessing that since I can't find any other records, this Southall came from England).

I want to go as far back as possible for my little girl. She's only two years old now, but I know that one day, I want to be able to tell her as much as possible about our family origins. Any help would be great!!

BTW, I have some of the Rhoades, Hix, Stanley, McHenry, and Tolley family names put together as well.

Hello Lesley.
I was just checking my tree. I have Samuel born 1863 ??? Brockmoor, one of the older ones.
Derrick remebers his grandfather harry, but not with happy memories. says he was always cross & miserable, all the kids learned early to stay out of his way. harry spent the last years of his life living with Derricks family, as Harry & his wife were seperated. I remember his wife. grandma Beatie we called her. Quite enjoyed her, she was funny. Derric remembers his Uncle richard too. with much better memories, says he was really nice man. he became a local town counsillor of Hemsworth where he lived with his wife Elizabeth, ( Aunt Lizzie ). I remember her too. We have some of her dishes & a silver & crystal Cruet set, I think they are called. not salt & pepper, but vinegar & 3 other kinds of bottles ?. They had had only one child, who died as a baby. Harry & Richard both worked in the coal mines.
My e mail is derrick.south@sympatico.ca
Bye Hilary.

Hi Hilary
So pleased to hear from you. Fascinating to know there are more Southall descendants out there - my Dad has always thought he is the end of the line! Not sure how much information you already have about Samuel Southall's family, eg wife, sons, occupation, etc - what I have is somewhat sketchy but I am happy to share it with you. Samuel was my great grandfather. I do not have my tree online but if you let me know what you already have I can probably fill in some of the blanks, especially with regard to my grandfather and his siblings. Look forward to hearing from you.
Lesley

Southall, Lower Peach Tree, Wilcox County, Alabama

There are several Southall families in Wilcox County beginning in the 1840's (all were originally from North Carolina). I am trying to find the correct Southall family buried in Liberty Methodist Church Cemetery (located between Sunny South ad Lower Peach Tree).

1. John Southall. Was he the John A. Southall who was born 1799/1800 in NC? He was still living in 1880 at the home of his son, Robert G. Southall and his wife Sarah. John was listed as a widow.

2. Martha Southall (Maiden name unknown). She was born about 1800 in NC. She died between the 1870 and 1800 Census.

3. Rosaline Southall. Their daughter? I doubt she lived to adulthood.

If anyone can give me birth and death dates I can update my cemetery data. There are no dates on these three markers.
