HENRY WILSON SPAULDING/SPALDING

I am searching for anything relating to the person above, in hopes of finding long lost 'cousin', Harry. His father was also named Henry Wilson, but called Will by his sister, Myra Worthington Spaulding Herron, of Alpena, Michigan. Elder Will was born in Wisconsin to David Worthington Spaulding and Elizabeth (Libby) Christina Hingley. They all moved to Alpena, and after his father's death, elder Will became a sailor on the great lakes. He died on the ship Gehm in Minominee, Michigan, and his son Harry was on the ship with him at the time. Harry was born about 1905, so may well have passed on by now. I'd love to find if he had family, as I believe that he married.

Elisha Lowtrip Spalding, and Margaret Wilson--Spalding are my great, great grandparents, and I was hoping that you might send me any information you have. Fred Spalding is my great grandfather, and Sarah Elnora Spalding--Henderson is my grandmother. Father is Lonnie Henderson. I'm Pam. I have some information up to Miner Spalding, but I'm not completely sure it's correct; however, I did find my grandfather Elisha Lowtrip Spalding's grave in Lucas, Kansas Cemetary..says, "E.L. Spalding." I also found my grandmother Margaret Spalding in the same graveyard, along with a few others. Fred spalding is there as well. Anything you might have would be wonderful. I'm on a role for the first time in five years working on Family Tree info, but I really didn't have a lot of time until lately. Hopefully you still be able to connect to me. If you answer, I will send you my email address. Thanks, Pam

Hi, My name is Elaine Linda (Harper) Barma, Barto. I am the daughter of Barbara Elton Barma who was the daughter of Helen Elenora Spalding. Our Grandmother Helen Elenora Spalding Annis died on November 3, 1983 in San Luis Obispo County, California. My mother Barbara once cared for Marlene who came to live with us when I was small in Yermo, California. Unfortunately, my mother died in 1980. Is your mother still alive? I have some pictures of her and Helen when she was young.

I remember Aunt Emma very well. Which one of her sons was was your wife's father? This is one of my earliest memories, My grandfather, Joe Spalding lived on St. John's Rd. He owned a Studebaker coupe. When Joe Rang was in the service, a number of the Rang kids, along with my mother, her sister, Mary and maybe me would all pile into that little car to go to Mass on Sunday. It must have looked like the Keystone Cops when they all unloaded at Church.
I was also visiting my grandparents when the barn on Joe Rang's prperty burned down. It was hit by lightening. I've hated thunder storms ever since.

I will need will need a snail mail adress, because I do not have a scanner.
I have the records that were transcribed by the John Timmon Reily Historical Society. My wife's, Sarah Rebecca (Rang) Little, grandmother was Emma Agnes (Spalding) Rang. Emma's father was also James David Spalding. Emma's baptism certificate say's her name was Amelia and her father was Jacob. These names were changed from English to Latin during that time period. Both my wife and I are originally from Littlestown, but now live in King of Prussia. We would like a copy of the picture of James G. and Agnes. Email it to nlittle5@comcast.net. Thank you for your reply.

John Spalding b: ABT 1758 information

I have been mulling through online threads, even searched through the The Spalding Memorial looking for further connections with him. The information I have is he was born around 1758, VA, married to Elizabeth Unknown around 1772, and passed away around 6/29/1824 in Prince Edward, VA. I have also read it is assumed he relocated perhaps from Scotland. Any information would be great. Also, any information on why his kin and later were "Spaulding" and not "Spalding".

Just to clear the air a little . . . .

There are three main Spalding/Spaulding centuries old immigrants:
1. Spalding Memorial line follows immigrant Edward Spalding, who settled in Mass. and descendants spread throughout New England - predominantly Congregationalist/Episcopal
2. Thomas Spalding line (Catholic) settled in St. Marys County Maryland and spread through Kentucky and Missouri - this is Pat Doster's main line of interest. Descendant of this line established Spalding University in Louisville.
3. Spalding line that settled in Georgia on Sapolo Island Plantation (slave owners). Spalding County Georgia is named for this line.

There is no known link between these three ancestors.

Hey Cuz; Thanks
I am afraid I have more argument, although I am grateful for your efforts.

What year (in the book) does Edward Spalding sit in? Does it run from him through the years too Aaron? On your page 1030 does it show Aaron as someones son or grandson? Does this page have a family group sheet of Aaron and Hannah's family?

I looks as if you branch to William and I branch to Henry E. Do we have the same Aaron, so far?

Would you be willing to snail mail to me, I keep loosing the signal and can't continue very long, at one time.

I think you are referring me to a church. I will call the FHC to see if they have or can get the book. Thanks.

As for Pat Doster's work, again, it does not prove three (3) generations. I would love to get a copy of this document. I will check with her about it.

Em

Em,

I just checked my records. The book is The Spalding Memorial: A Genealogical History of Edward Spalding (it continues) by Charles Warren Spalding, published 1897.

I copied only page 1030, which has Aaron (who married Hannah Herbert) and his son William, who was my ggg grandfather. It doesn't look as though it went back any further, as Aaron is listed as generation 1.

I don't know if it's available on-line. I did a quick search and found references, but nothing that seemed to show access to the whole book. You might try familysearch.org or, of course, ancestry.com if you have access.

I found the book at the Family History Center of the local LDS Temple. If you can find one of those (either a temple or a stake) in your area, they can get the book on loan for you if they don't have a copy. I am not a member of the LDS church, but they have always been incredibly helpful to me.

I just looked at spaldinggenealogy.com again. Pat Doster has listed a source for the indenture of Aaron Spalding, son of Moses Clarke Spalding, to Francis Spillman. It's a county court record, so should serve your purpose.

Hello Cuz.
Thank you for your response. Is this book online? Will it take me past Moses and connect him to a son named Aaron? That is where I have the missing gap. I cannot find a family listing that takes him from his father to his son in one fell swoop. I can get from us to him and from England to him but there isn't a link on the same page that gets the two together. Understand what I'm saying or am I still talking riddles.
Em

The SPALDING MEMORIAL was published in 1897. In 1997, Marti Spalding of Massachusetts renewed the copyright and started selling the book. Prior to her renewal, I ordered a great "copy" from the Higginson's Book Co. (known for their reprints). It is on archival paper and I find it easy to work with... good paper, large borders and good cover. My original DAR patriot was Job Spalding of MASS.

Ellie (Stites) Swanger, CO

I am not sure if I ever replied to this, I found it on a search. We are cousins, relatively close ones, since Patrick and Mary Maude are my great-grandparents, too. Patrick Joseph is also listed in many places as Joseph Thaddeus (same birthdate, so unless he is a twin who married Mary Maude, too, the same person). His parents were George Washington Spalding (Birth
5 JUL 1845 in Calvary,Marion Co,KY Death
17 AUG 1914 in Marion Co,KY) and Martha Henrietta Spalding (Birth
11 DEC 1853 in , Marion, Kentucky, USA Death
13 NOV 1925 in Marion). I am sure you won't have any trouble once you know this.

I believe you are quite correct in thinking Edward Spalding of Mass. came from Norfolk - and that the many accounts that link him to a Wilfred Spalding in London are wrong. Edward was bp. Alburgh, Norf. (next to Redenhall) 10 May 1601, son of Edward and Dionis (IGI gives the date as 15 May and has the mother as “Ivonis”), and mar. Redenhall 18 Sep. 1623 Margaret Elyot. Their eldest dau. Grace was bp. 13 Jun. 1624 Dickleburgh, Nof. and bur. May 1641 Braintree, MA, USA.
His parents are: Edward Spalding mar. Redenhall 21 Sep. 1598 Diane Moullinge. Edward was bur. Redenhall 30 May 1626; widow Dinah Spalden was bur. 2 Mar. 1638/9.

This is a repeat request from a few years ago.

I'm looking for information on Joseph Spalding and his wife Hulda. They had a daughter Harriet who married Amasa Gleason.

Joseph was born 17 Mar 1799 in New Hampshire and died 17 Mar 1799 in Winona, Co MN.

Hulda (I have no last name) was born 07 May 1801; according to the 1880 census in Canada. She died 30 Apr 1881 in Winona, Co MN.

Both are buried in the Bush Cemetery, Winona, Co MN.

The information I have is from the 1880 census and their headstones.
