For anyone that is interested, Google has apparently scanned in a copy held by the Princeton University Library. It can be found at the following link:
http://books.google.com/books?id=yZNQAAAAYAAJ&printsec=f...

Google provides the ability to download the book in several different formats (for iPad, e-readers, PDF, etc), or even order print versions from one of several vendors.

I have already downloaded the book in PDF format; unfortunately, it does not appear to have been made into a searchable PDF. However, as best I can tell, it's the real deal.

Just an FYI for anyone still interested in tracking down the CD/book, it is still sold by Quintin Publications. Direct link to the page to order the Spoor CD is:
http://www.quintinpublications.com/mm5m/merchant.mvc?Screen=...

Unfortunately, it would appear that they no longer create print versions, just the CDs.

I just saw your post as I was researching Pearl Ester Spoor. She was my husband (Richard Kilgore)'s mother and I am attempting to establish her dates of birth and death. I have her birth date about 1912 and death probably 1979. Were you able to find out any more since you posted in 2005? She was divorced from ,my father and James Church was her husband at her death but they married late in her life so as far as I know she had no children other than my husband and his brother.
If you have any other information, I would appreciate hearing from you.

My mother-in-law is looking for her biological father. His name is Charles Spoor and would have lived in Wyoming County in Upstate New York. Charles would have worked on Earl Ewell's farm, and may have moved to Cincinnati, OH. My mother-in-law's name is Phyllis Seaman, she would like to know if she has any brothers or sisters out there somewhere.

I live in Grimsby, ON but will be going on vacation for a month starting Monday. If you don't have a copy of "From Newcastle to Toronto" the history of the Brown family from their earliest roots through their emigration from England in 1846 up to about 1924 when Rev. Geo. Martin Brown made the last entries, I'd be pleased to make sure that you get a copy.
-Don

Anne and Thomas Brown are my GGgrandparents. They had ten children: Ann, Thomas, Robert Spoor, John, Maria Margaret, Richard, William, George Martin, Annie Elizabeth and Charles Septimus.
The only Jenny Browns that I can find in my records are Jennie Alberta Brown (born Aug. 12, 1878) who married Walter E. W. Jackson in 1910 and her mother Jennie Brown (born abt. 1852 in Quebec). Her maiden name was Irwin. She was married to Thomas Brown, the son of Thomas Brown who was the eldest son of Thomas Brown and Anne Spoor.
The Jacksons had one child, a daughter named Dorothy Alberta who married Charles E. Cansfield. They in turn had four children. Three are still living: Judith, William and Barbara.
I hope that this has been helpful.
-Don

I am a little confused about Olive Lillian being the daughter of Anne Spoor and Thomas Brown. The youngest child of my GGgrandparents was, according to my records, Charles Septimus Brown born in 1842. Thomas was 53 and Anne 40 at the time of his birth. Are you pehaps omitting a generation?

Hi Donna,

Millage McLeod was my dad's uncle. His wife Lizzie (Elizabeth)Nicholson was my grandmother's sister. Lizzie passed away before I was born. We saw Uncle Mil quite often. He stayed with us for a short while. I think it was while he was recuperating after an operation. He had a heart pace maker. I have fond memories of Uncle Mil. He would invite us to his place from time to time for dinner. He liked to joke. I remember one of his favorite jokes was. "This is out of my garden." He'd pause. And add, "Well, it's not in it." An he'd laugh his quiet laugh. He was always smiling and kind to all of us. I remember him giving me tea with milk and lots of sugar. As I was young, I was thrilled!

We also took a trip to California to visit his daughter, Diantha and her sons one summer.

Judy Walder (nee: Lukes)

I have been to their graves.
Their father was Orville Every Spoor, born in the states - (I believe N.Y. state ---from memory) I do have some information on this in my files.
How are you related?
June, 15, 2010
Donna Wright dndwright@sympatico.ca

My father, James Scot Spoor of Lower Cuthbert Street, Gateshead, Co. Durham could very possibly be a relative of Robert Spoor of N'castle. Many of my ancestors were involved in the Methodist Church throughout the North East in the 1800s - to determine whether there is a link here, I need to supply you with details of my Grandparents. If you would like to e-mail me - we can 'pick one anothers' brains!!! I am just embarking on the 'Who Do I Think I Am' Trail........it's fair-daunting n'ces pa?!!!

It's great news to hear that someone of your descent is interested in the project!

Here's what you do to sign up:
In the post to which you replied, you will find a URL (link) which ends with "sporedna". Click it. It will load the Project's homepage. When that new page has loaded, you will see a section near the top which says "participation". At the end of that section, there will be another link which says "Join the SPORE/SPOOR/SPOHR Surnames DNA Project". Click that link.

A new page will load that gives some group information. If you scroll down just a little, you will see a section with "Y-Chromosome - DNA Test", with some "order now" buttons next to them (there should be 3 of them). Once you have clicked on one of those "order now" buttons, just follow the instructions to order your kit, etc. Even though we only have 12-marker tests results for our existing participants, it will be greatly superior if you can order the 37-marker test in the long term.

I hope that you can sign up. My SPORE ancestor was in the same county as yours way back when, and I have always wondered if they were related, or if it was just the case that their surnames/geography were similar by coincidence.

Gregg Bonner
SPORE/SPOOR Surname(s) DNA Project Group Administrator

According to obit: married Don Carlos Barry in 1834 near Rochester, NY, immediately moved west to Chicago, Il area, the on to O'brien County, Iowa in 1871. Eight children: John, Edwin, Edgar, Alice, Helen, Agnes, Myra, Lucinda listed on family pertrait in my possession. Someone indicated to me that she was born in Wayne County, NY and I know that there were Spoors in that area. Anyone have any ideas about her parentage? Thanks. Vic
