I have information about ancestors of Andrew Richard Spradley if your conclusion is correct about his father being Charles and his brother being Allen P. Do you have any source material for the will of Charles Jr. or for the administration of Charles' estate that you can share?

Manning or Washington Spradley married Sarah Quattlebaum

Manning Spradley b.1805 SC was grandson of James b. 1757 SC and great grandson of Bryant b.1737 SC. Either Manning Spradley or a Washington Spradley b. probably 1795-1815 married Sarah Quattlebaum. There is strong evidence that it was Washington, but many seem to believe that it was Manning? He had a son named Washington, but he was not of age to marry Sarah. Does anyone have information about these people, especially Washington about which very little is known.

Also, if you have time, if you search by another family member that you can find, like a brother or his parents, sometimes you can find them living nearby. I also have found that the names are illegible and they show up as another name altogether. Also, another thing to try is to go page by page through the area, both Harrison County and Jackson County. I also have found two families listed together when they shouldn't have been for some reason, which the only way you would find it is to go page by page because their names are being pulled up by the first family's name and not theirs. I found Ikerd listed as Schard this way. Anyway, good luck. I just sent an email to another researcher and he said he will try and find something. I'll let you know if I hear back.
When I was in Ocean Springs a couple of years ago, I seem to remember that the genealogy library in Pascagoula is very good. You might try contacting them about doing a lookup if they have some time. There might be an obit there in the local paper. A family researcher gave me the name Craven as her maiden name but I am not sure if that's it. I am pretty sure the family remained in the area with some in the Back Bay area and some in Biloxi. My gg was his sister, Molly Landrum, and she always lived in Ocean Springs and used to visit her brothers as much as she could. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I had about decided that the most likely was Augustave. I think the Augustine was a typo by the attending doctor, and the census records were just what the person told the inumerator.

Berry,
My Dad's records have Augustave Davis Spradley. I can remember going to Bryant Eugene Spradley's family reunions every year from the time I was very young. My Dad's information came from Augustave Davis Spradley himself. I also have quite a number of pictures of him and Hannah Maxwell, as well as all of his children. I have the Bible records for Bryant Eugene Spradley and it shows Augustave as his first name.

Gus Spradley was my grandfather. He died in 1954 in Coryell County, Texas. I need to know if anyone has proof of his first name? He was always just called Gus, and I thought his name was Augustus. But....He was called Augustave on the 1880 census, Milam Co., TX. His Texas Certificate of Death calls him Augustine. Other records have called him August, Gus and Augusta.

Many or most of the Spradley clan originated from Virginia to South Carolina. Majority of descendants of the patriarch Bryant Spradley Sr. migrated to Georgia and Alabama, then several to Texas. Bryant SR. had a son Bryant JR who migrated to Illinois in 1843 with his wife Demaris Melton and his 9 children. This family might offer clues to your Jesse B. Spradley although I do not have him in my database. If you will contact I will share.
berrys@hal-pc.org
Are you still out there? I am trying to put the SPRADLEYs who lived in southern IL together in an effort to find the HALL girls who are their relations. It appears John SPRADLEY and his wife Amy may have had these children:

1) Jesse B. SPRADLEY, born ca. 1841, married Mary Ann BUSEN(?), Johnson Co. IL
1) Sarah SPRADLEY, married James Claborn COX in 1861 - Pope Co. IL; died 1878 in Shawneetown, Gallatin Co. IL
2) Eliza SPRADLEY, married Eusibius P. HALL in 1861 - Johnson Co. IL; died 3 May 1889 in Shawneetown, Gallatin Co. IL
4) Pleasant G. SPRADLEY, born about 1850 in IL; married Bernette Ann CROFT in 1869 in Pope Co. IL
5) Amanda M., born 1853 in IL;
6) Robert (or Hezekiah) SPRADLEY, born 1856 in IL; found in Gallatin Co. IL later.

I am trying to piece this family together. They are in 1860 census Johnson Co. IL; 1870 Webster Co. MO. I believe the mother Amy is in 1880 Gallatin Co. IL. Amy dies in Gallatin Co. IL - her obit was in the Shawneetown newspaper. She remarried in 1868 in Johnson Co. IL to Moses NELSON and sometimes has name Nelson and sometimes Spradley after that.

Glad to exchange what I have - actively researching this line to see if Eusibius P. HALL's daughters were connected with them in later years. I would be interested in the pension and divorce records of Jesse B. Spradley.

Thanks!

Sabrina,
My name is Edward Webber, Ransom Spradley was my great grandfather, brother to Asburry Spradley. Listed in Jackson County Ms. Records. He was married to Mellie Graham, daughter of Charlie Graham (Alabama). He had sons named Sullivan, John, and Matthew Graham, Ada Graham Howard, and Ida Graham. My mother was Lena Estelle Spradley Webber, daughter of Charles Robert Spradley, born in 1895 at VanCleve, Jackson County, Ms. He is buried at the National Cemetery, VA Center, Biloxi. My mother and grand mother are buried in the Long Beach City Cemetery. Asburry and his family are buried in the Allen Cemetery along with the Grahams and Howards, near Long Beach, Ms. I have a lot of information about them. I read this post while searching for my Fathers Mother who was from New Orleans. He was raised by his uncle in Ocean Springs. Hope this helps. I knew Ada Graham Howard. I live and work in Europe, but you can write me at jasedwebber@yahoo.com
Hi Rob. Yes, I do live in Texas as well. I was born in Houston, grew up mostly in Tomball, moved to Colorado, went to college there and made my way back home to Texas about 8 years ago. I now live in Montgomery on Lake Conroe. I do have some other pictures and would be happy scan them and send them to you. I will see if I can't work on that this weekend. My husband was born and raised down in your neck of the woods, Vidor! His whole family is from down in that area and his parents still live there today.

My email address is bgsarver@gmail.com If you would like to share yours I will be happy to send you some other photos. I also have some amazing letters from our Great Grandfather to our Great Grandmother. They are amazing to see and try to read! Most are dated back in 1904-1908. Pretty neat. Anyway, I hope to hear from you soon.

Gina

I enjoyed looking at the info that you have posted. It's interesting to me that you and I have many of the same pictures from The Spradley's. I wish I could say that I knew your Grandmother, but if I did have the opportunity to meet her, I was very young, and don't recall. Do you live in Texas? Take care!

Spradley's of Virginia

Looking for any information on the Spradley families of Farmvill, Virginia. I have a Joshua Spradley, born 1909, George Spradley born 1907 and a William Spradley date of birth not known. The brothers lived in Virginia, Chester Pa and New York to my knowledge. None of them ever lived in the Carolina's,or Alabama.

Thanks,
