Does anyone have any info on titus Spriggs born 1776 at Lubenham in Leicestershire. He married Eleanor Whitmore of Theddingworth Leicestershire. I think his father's name is Thomas. Also would anyone have any info on the parents of Eleanor. I have looked at the Theddingworth records at the Leicester records office but they are in a very poor condition and are almost impossible to read.

I am Dorothy Collins, George Spriggs was my Gt Uncle who I met several times in Leicester. I have lived in New Zealand for 43 years. My husband & I met your mother when she came over here for a school reunion. We are so pleased to hear from you. I went back to Leicester last year when my sister died; & whilst clearing out her things I found a small book entitled " Common Prayer" with your Grandfather's name with what looked to be his "Regimental number" brought it back to NZ with me hoping that I could get it to you somehow. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert D. and Mildred E. (Burke) Spriggs and sister, Robin D. Spriggs. Patricia is survived by her twin sister, Priscilla J.(O. Lester) Smithers of Enon, Ohio; sons, Vernon C. Holland III of Columbus, Ohio, Stanley D. Holland and Robert L. (Jeanette) Holland of Scottsdale, Arizona; grandchildren, Leah P., Jason S. and Keir M. Holland; nieces, Sheila D. (Troy) Taylor of Westerville, Ohio and Lisa Ann (Roderick) Smithers-Cambridge of Land O' Lakes, Florida.

Patricia graduated from Parkersburg High School and Mountain State College, Parkersburg, W.Va.

Visitation will be Monday, April 18, 2011 from 12 noon-2 p.m. in the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home, Springfield, Ohio with the family present from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Burial will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Rockland Cemetery, Belpre, Ohio. (Washington County)

My partner Fleur Spriggs is David's daughter. We live in Melbourne.

David, and his parents Len Spriggs and Kate Swift, emigrated to Australia in 1951.

Fleur's mum, Paula is off to the UK in a few weeks and is going up to Sawtry.

I think your William could be the son of William Spriggs (1811) and Elizabeth (1808). They had a son William born in 1836 and it looks like he married an Elizabeth. William had a brother Thomas which might be where the son's name came from.

My partner is Fleur Spriggs. We are in Australia. We have been able to trace back through Leonard William (b. 1908 Bridgford), to Tom (b. 1862 Sawtry, married Hannah Stafford 1885) to William (b. 1836, Sawtry, married Elizabeth Ayres in 1860).

I wonder if our William is William and Ann's son?

Hello Fellow Spriggs'!

I'm looking for my husband's maternal grandfather on here, and I've hit a wall - I was hoping that somebody out there might know something about him? He was born in Westham, Essex on 9th April 1916 and died in the winter of 1974 in Redbridge, Essex.

He married my husband's grandmother, Violet Elizabeth Toombes in January 1946 in Ilford, Essex and his mother's maiden name was Barnes. But there are no living family members left and we've found all of this out very recently - I'd like to know some more about his parents and siblings so that we can find out some more about where he comes from.

Maybe it's a bit of a long shot but does anybody have any information?

Hi!! I live in Hull, MA and just saw your posting (my first time checking this website out). Mary Spriggs was my grandmother! Her son, James Fahey is my dad. Mary married my grandfather James Fahy. I have been wanting to get any info for my dad and surprise him with it! I actually have a BEAUTIFUL picture of Mary in her nurse uniform (on the back it says "Strawberry Hill". I have heard about Dennis' plaque, my father said Dennis was buried Finbar Cemetary in Cork.

Hi, I live in Phoenix, Arizona and just returned from Cork, Ireland(my unle Wiilie Gough's funeral). My mother was Ann Gertrude Spriggs, sister of John, Mary, Ned, Kenneth and Joan from Blackpool, Cork. I met Rosemarie, Gary and Alan Spriggs. I visit Ireland often and I remember clearly visitng an Aunt's house on Strawberry Hill with my Aunt Joan Gough. She had a big upright piano that I really wanted to play. She was very nice. I did not know she was a nurse, as I am. It is a small world. My sister's are Patricia and Maureen Escobar and they live in Southern California. I have photos at various ages in front of Denis Spriggs plaque on Strawberry Hill.

My great great grandmother is Lilly Spriggs, lived in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, married to Alfred Spriggs. I am unsure of her dates of birth or death, unfortunately, but estimate she was born in late 1800s. She had a daughter, Dorothy Spriggs, and I'm unsure of any of her other children, however I do know that she took in "unwanted" children and took care of them.
