My name is Walter T. Crean and I am related to the family that Jean [or Jane] Stacey married into, which is the Standleys. They are descended from the Lovetts through the marriage of George Standley and Bethiah Lovett; their son George Standley Jr. was Jean Stacey's first husband. I am searching for the parentage of Jean Stacey. Any and all information can be emailed to me by my Yahoo email address, crean.walter@yahoo.com; thanks.

Karen
What a treat to hear from you.I would very much like to have the information your children have regarding your side of the family. I am happy to supply you with their Dad's side info too.
I have not had any luck with communicating with Maxine. I would certainly like to have email for Paula as you said if she doesn't object.
I don't remember if I posted my email for you but here it is:
pahoaboi@hawaii.rr.com
Please feel free to email outside of this forum. I am usually quick to respond to my email. We need to get a dialogue going and I think initially away from this site might be easier.
I am excited to have the possibility of learning more about our family. Hope to hear from you (email me) when you are able. Thanks so much. Aloha, Sandy

Sandy

It took me a while to figure out the family connection. If I recall when Jim & I visited his grandmother in the early 1980's we would have stayed with your sister (can't recall her name) and her husband for a few days.

Jim & I were divorced in 2000 and he died several months later. We had two children, Abby and Brian. I wasn't very good about keeping in contact with his family but the kids saw more of the family when Paul was alive.

My son is getting married this weekend and so I've been in contact more with Maxine and Paula recently. I'll mention to Paula & Maxine you've contacted me. Paula e-amails so I can send you her address if she doesn't object.

My children have a great deal of information about my side of the family, but are lacking information on their dad's side. Although I met Gertrude only a few times, I came to love her dearly. She had great stories to tell of living in Bennet. I always wish I would have taken the time to write them down.

I'd love to share whatever you wish to know about the years I knew Jim.

Karen
A friend bought some old wedding photos. On them are written the date September 2, 1928, and the names Lottie & Harry and Nelda & Edwin. We believe we've identified the bride and groom as Lottie Dowell and Harry Standley, who were married in Jackson Co., MO, on that date. Would like to find a family member to return the pictures to.

Dana.....mahalo for such a quick reply. I would be happy to entertain anything you have for Lee Roy and Clarice, their family and their ancestry (parents, etc).
Hi Sandy,

Colleen had mentioned your name when we were discussing the Standley family. I think Colleen and I have about the same thing, but I would be glad to share anything that I have. My aunt, Clarice Moret Standley, wife of Lee Roy Standley kept a great address book and Roy's second wife was the family record keeper after her. It was a great starting place for me. I have some photos of James Standley when he and Roy were young and when they were in the First WW. Let me know if you are looking for anything specific.
Dana

Dana

Hi Dana
I am William "Sandy" Richter of Pahoa, Hawaii. I am first cousin to Colleen Standley of Pacifica, CA. She emailed and mentioned you and your work with the Standley family. My mother Gertrude Dagmar Standley Richter 6.25.1922 - 10.14.1973 born in Lincoln, Nebraska. I am relatively new to family information gathering. I am currently using the free Personal Ancestral Files program of the LDS church as my database. Any information you could share would be most welcome and wonderful. Likewise if there is something you need and I have I will be happy to share.

Philip had Maud Rachel Standley Hennigh, Earl Aubrey Standley married Lucy Jane Head aka Lute. My mother Pearl Louise Standley Howard. Buried between Grandpa and Grandma you will find Earl A 1884-1923 and James R. 1910-1918. Grandpa had a brother Ben R. that is out there too.

Re: Onesiphorus Standley

I have some holes I'm trying to fill in my family tree, and I believe you can help me. I am a descendent of Onesiphorus Standlee (b. 1768 NC), found in the 1850 Census of Carroll County AR. He's also there in 1840. In 1830 he was in Missouri, and before that in 1810 he was in Butler County, KY. Before Butler he was in Logan County, KY. This apparently was a change in county lines, rather than a move. He's in the tax roles of Logan County from the 1790's to 1809.

Living around him in Logan County are a number of other Standley/Stanley/Standlee folks.

They were all involved in applications for land grants out of the Kaskaskia Land office, and legal proceedings around this are recorded in the Territorial Papers of Illinois (I can provide exact citings and photocopies upon request). In the papers around the disputed land there are depositions taken. The testimony lays out the family relationships of a David Sr. (b. abt 1720), his sons Abraham (b. abt 1746) , David Jr. (b. abt 1762), John (b. abt 1745) and a son in law Jacob McCarty. Onesiphorus is on a consecutively numbered application in one instance with David Sr, but we have not found documentation of where their exact family relationship is spelled out.

We can track this family through various wills and deeds back through TN, GA, and NC. In these it is established that David Sr. is the son of John Stanley-Standley (b. about 1690).

One of the legal documents establishes that John's wife is Catharine.

Other researchers have concluded she was Catherine Bilderback, but we (I'm working with other resarchers that descend from David Sr.) have not found documentation of this. We do know that "a" John (Johan) Standley married a Catherine (or a spelling variation similar to Catharina) Bilderback in Salem County, New Jersey.

This is where there appaear to be similarities with your known family line. I've seen records of the marriage of Onecypheros Stanley and Dorthea Sinnicksson (or similar spelling). Of that generation at least two of Dorthea's siblings marry Bilderbacks.

Would you be able to help establish a connection between these families?

David Stanley/Standley/Standlee circa 1727

Researching David & Hannah Stanley/Standley who could be found in the records of Anson/Tryon/Mecklenburg Co, NC as early as 1758. David and his father John Stanley can be found as early as 1751 in Augusta Co VA.

I found a researcher who had John Stanley of Augusta Co VA with sons Jonathan, Sands, David and a daughter Marion who was married to Nathaniel Walker. I haven't been able to confirm this family.

David & Hannah's known children;

Catherine Standley who married Jacob McCarty, son of Daniel & Agnes McCarty of Lincoln Co NC. Jacob died in 1812 in Stewart Co., Tn. This is my husband's line.

David Standlee Jr who was married to Esther Tagert, daughter of John Tagert, first sheriff of Tryon Co NC. John Tagert's son James Tagert married Sarah McCarty, daughter of Jacob McCarty and Catherine Standley. David and Esther's son Abraham Standlee was married to Elizabeth Parchment, daughter of John Parchment.

John Standlee of Logan Co Ky. This includes the family of Oneciphorous Standlee, but there's reason to believe that David Sr may actually be his father, not John.

Abraham Standley. Was in Logan Co tax list in the 1790's. Was in Wilson Co Tn in 1802. We believe his son John David Standley married Matilda Harlan in Davidson Co Tn.

Joseph Standley. Unproven but he was listed in the 1787 tax list for the Cumberland Settlement (Davidson Co Tn) along with David & John.

These families traveled with the Hardins, Kuykendalls, Hamptons and other families that lived along the Catawba River in North Carolina.

We have records from the Illinois Territorial papers to include a deposition from Abraham Standley that explains the family relationship between David Sr, David Jr, John Standley, Abraham Standley, and Jacob McCarty.

Would love to correspond with others researching these lines.

Sue

Linda,

Please use klallman@gmail.com rather than the email shown below.

I'd very much like to exchange information with you.

I can trace my line back to Onecsipherous Standlee in Carroll County AR, in the 1850 census. This is in the north west corner very near MO. As I understand it, the Standlee families went back and forth over the border many times during the years of the civil war depending on the level of hostilities in the area.

The census data shows that he did not have the skills of reading and writing, which for me, helps to explain the numerous version of his name over the years. His first name has various spellings of Onesiphorous (sometimes shortened to Oney, Siph or Cyph, even a Seth), and the last name shown at various times as Stanley, Standley or Standlee. Tracking the same family members living near by, and other families that seemed to move as a group has helped to confirm this is infact my family member moving from place to place. If I go backwards in time, here's where I have him - and I'll follow with why I think we share common relatives. For consistency here, I'll use Ony, though the original documents to back this up may use the various forms of the name.

Ony is in Carroll County, AR for the 1840 Census.
He's in the Union County, MO census for 1830.
In 1810 he's in Butler County, KY.
From the 1790's through 1809 he's in Logan County, KY.

In Logan County, KY he's seen with various other family members. To tie up all the relationships I'd have to point you to the Territorial Papers of Illinois, and some disputed land claims the family was in involving the Land Office in Kaskaskia. When Ony is living in Logan County, he is living next door to a group of people in the Territorial papers who (at least some) were of Logan County. The relationships described there are of a David (Standlee/Stanley/Standley)Sr, a son David Jr, a son John, a son Abraham, and a son-in-law Jacob McCarty. This Jacob has been traced to be a son of Daniel and Anges McCarty.

I could walk you through various Deeds and Court documents
that establish the family moving between KY, Robertson County TN (Cumberland area, and Knoxville area if my memory serves me), they had also been in Tryon/Anson and Mecklenburg Counties in North Carolina, as well as Augsta County VA, and briefly in GA. I can supply more details as to the dates of who was where when. (I have been working with other family researchers, Sue Abruscato, Bob VanDyne, Alan Standlee and other who have been very kind in sharing their research, as well as documentation left by Norman Arrowsmith, and William Standlee).

A very important document I would like to call out is one that shows John, the father of David Sr. was married to a Catharine. Other family researchers have shown her maiden name as Bilderback. We have not yet found the documentation to substantiate this.

If this were to be proven then the following connections are quite interesting. Your Onesiphorous was married to Dorothea Sinnikson. As documented a book on the New Sweden census of 1693, and another document you can find on-line: search for Swedish Colonial News (Fall 2002). In those documents the Sinnikson family is gone in to great detail. A couple of siblings of Dorothea marry in to the Bilderback family, leading credibility to the unproved report that the John Stanley (Standlee, Standley) in the family I'm tracking (related to my 1850 Onesiphorous) relates back to the Onesiphorous in the line you're tracking. Please contact me at klallman@cox.net and I can supply the documentation of the above. I look forward to hearing from you, as I hope you can plug some of the gaps for me.
Hi Rebecca - I am married to one of your nephews and recently have been looking into y'alls family tree as well. The only thing I've been able to find that's pretty solid about Ivory Sr, is this1900 Census record.

http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=1900usfedcen&a...

It shows an Evory D. Stanley born about 1897 in Texas living with a George and Malina with bunches of other families. I'm assuming that like other census records there is some sort of misspelling in both the names. From there I've found other ancestors but it's all kinda guessing because I don't have too many solid records that I can go off of. Sorta piecing information together from others' research online.

Send me a message and I can share what I have so far with you... Maybe we can look more into it if you're still interested. I know it's been awhile since you've requested information.

I found this article so interesting! I've been unable to find the surname Moworn ANYWHERE... Am wondering if it was possibly a misprint?? I've tried other variations & cannot seem to put this puzzle together.

Thia has all been unfolding ever since I found a marriage record for Haubert/Standing in Philadelphia 1926. My search then shifted to "Standley" records, & so on, & so on.

Can anyone help? I can elaborate more if these names ring a bell to anyone. Thanks! - Michelle

I am looking for relatives of the following people:
Emma Stanley nee Humphreys b 1853 in Radnorshire, Wales
Her children:
Henry Norman Stanley b 1879 had consumption and was in poor health on 1911 census.
Beatrice Annie Stanley b 1881
Florence Elizabeth Stanley b 1882
William Gordon Stanley b 1885
Lillian Emma Stanley b 1888
Charles Edgar Stanley b 1889.

I believe my G Grandgather Henry George Standley left my G Granmother for Emma and they lived as man and wife but were not married. My G Granmother Ann Snowden went into Louth workhouse for about 20 years on and off.
When Henry died of bright's disease in 1897, Emma and her children moved to west Derby and she had her own confectioners shop. I'd really like to contact someone to confirm my suspicions!!
BTW all her children were single and living at home on the 1911 census.

Hello,

have you had any luck researching this name. I'm in England and I have a STANDLEY relative and think this name might be quite significant in my family as it has been passed on as a first and middle name through my family.

I have a record for William Grimwood (1854, Mile End, London) who married Elizabeth Sophia Standley (1858, Bow, London) I also beleive I've found ELizabeth's parents: James Standley and Jessey.

If you can offer any more details you can email me at researchgrimwood@hotmail.co.uk

Thanks and good luck with your research!

I do not have much information about Shadrack Standley's (Stanley) descendants but he was the brother of both John and William Standley who both fathered my LINE. (The son of William Stanley married the grandaughter of John Stanley. Interesting part of my history.) Their parents were Sands STANDLEY "Stanley" and Zilpha Edwards. Sands father was William Standley, his father was John Standley and his father was George Standley (1635 - 1698) Hope that helps you.
