Hello. I am responding to your post, hoping we might share information regarding STAVROPOULOS/STAVROS. My Great Aunt (my grandfather's sister) was given the name Maria Pan. Stavropoulos, and married someone named KAMARINOS (Kamarino, Camarinou, etc.). Maria Pan. Stavropoulos was born in Antikalimos, Azaiga, Greece; but resided in Kalamata (Calamata). Maria Pan. Stavropoulos was born in 1902 (I don't have a specific date as of yet). Her husband was presumably a restaurant or flower shop owner in New York (I heard it was Brooklyn, but I am not sure).

Maria Pan. Stavropoulos' parents were Sprydonis Stavropolis and Eleni (Helen) (Mandylari; Mandylaris) Stavropoulos. She had 5 brothers: Ioannis (John) S. Stavropoulos (americanized to Stavros) (my grandfather), born July 14, 1892 (1891), Antikalimos, Alzaiga, Greece; Epaminondas S.(Peter) Stavropoulos (americanized to Stavros), born Feb 1896, Antikalimos, Alzaiga, Greece; Georgios S. Stavropoulos, born 1894, Antikalimos, Alzaiga, Greece; Constantine S. Stavropoulos, born 1905, Antikalimos, Alzaiga, Greece; and Nicholas S. Stavropoulos, born 1906, Antikalimos, Alzaiga, Greece.

My great-aunt, Maria Pan. STAVROPOULOS (b. 1902 @ Antikalamos-Kalamata), married "unknown first name" KAMARINOU or KAMARINOS or KAMARINON or CAMARINIS (Greek).

Maria Pan. STAVROPOULOS parents are:
Mother: Eleni (Helen), daughter of Athanese MANDYLARI (MANDYLARIS, MANDALARIS
Father: Spyrodon STAVROPOULOS

Maria Pan. STAVROPOULOS' brothers are:
1. Ioannis (John) Spyridonos STAVROPOULOS (also known as John STAVROS, also once known as John STEVENS); b. July 1892 @ Antikalamos-Kalamata; d. 1974 Newton County, Lake Village, Indiana, USA.

2. Georgios Spyridonos STAVROPOULOS; b. 1894 @ Antikalamos-Kalamata;

3. Epaminondas Spyridonos STAVROPOULOS (also known as Peter Stavros); b. 1896 @ Antikalamos-Kalamata; d. 1938 Lake County, Hammond, Indiana, USA.

4. Constantine Spyridonos STAVROPOULOS; b. 1905 @ Antikalamos-Kalamata;

5. Nicholas Spyridonos STAVROPOULOS; b. 1906 @ Antikalamos-Kalamata.

Maria and her husband "unknown first name "KAMARINOU or KAMARINOS or KAMARINON or CAMARINIS," lived in Brooklyn, New York, USA, between 1939 and 1941, and probably longer. They owned a flower shop or restaurant in Brooklyn, New York, USA.

I have an old coast guard photo of my grandfather's and it lists the name F. J. Stavroupolous. It was taken on January 29, 1944 in St. Augustine, Florida at the Training Station.

Looking for information on my great grandparents. Eleftheria was born in Athens, and came here early 1900's. Demetrios lived in Poros Elias(?) prior to coming to America. Had 5 daughters: Constance, Virginia, Catherine, Lois, and Mable. Please help with any information you may have!!!
