Wow, 11 years later and here is my response...
Christina had a brother George Stengel and a sister Ann Marie Jann (nee Stengel).
I have a cousin who is related to that branch of our family tree. If interested please contact me with your email address and I can get up in contact with them. We are on another website.
Louise

Hi,
Thank you for the response.
I was wondering if you would have any more information on Salome Leinhardt and her parents. We have a photo that we can't find out who it is. It was our Grandmother Emolina's photo and there was a notation on the back that it was mother's mother. We are trying to find out if it could be Salome.Do you have any photos you would be willing to share?
Thanks again,

Stengel killed at Trenton?

Oral tradition in my family says that a Heinrich Stengel served as a Hessian and was killed at the Battle of Trenton, NJ, Dec 25th, 1776. It seems that before he came to America, he was married to Bertha Shuman and had a son, Johann in 1764. I haven't been able to confirm that he died at Trenton, though I haven't found a complete record of Hessian casualties from that battle either. Any ideas?

Hi, I read, again, your message looking for information on the VanOrd family in Warren County, PA. I took a trip up there a couple years ago and met a bunch of VanOrds. I found it odd that they no longer seperate the "Van" and the "Ord" in their name. The origional VanOrd family spelled it as two words as some of the family still do. If you'll check my Public Tree you'll find I've entered a lot of information on the Van Ord family and have tons more to go. You'll find I've traced them back to Holland for a couple generations. My tree is called "The Hager and Larrabee Family Tree". If you still have questions feel free to write me and maybe I'll be able to help further. Sincerely, Susan Van Ord, 1223 Eagle Drive,Cantonment, FL, 32533, s_vanord@yahoo.com.

no I do not think this is the georg stengel you are looking for. This gentle man was a hessian and deserted to Nova scotia and appleed for a land grant noroth of Halifax in 1790. By then he had already acquired a wife and 2 sons. I do not think the dates work.

Replying to an old post on the Stengels in Illinois.
Wilhelmina Stengel married Emil Erdmann making her my gr gr grandmother.
She had at least one sister Emelie and one brother Julius that we've confirmed so far - of course knowing the typical size of families back then we strongly suspect there were many more.
Given that Julius, his wife and at least his eldest child (Mary b 1882) immigrated the same year as Henry - I suppose its possible we are looking at the same family.
Let me know if you'd like to look at my tree and I'll give you access.
Looking for relatives of Catharina Stengel from Germany. Immigrated to NYC about 1880, 1881. She married John Wagner (birthplace France) probably in NY, but I cannot find a marriage record. Children were Johan, Carl, Louise, Katarina, Henry and Rosa. They lived at 518 W. 49th in Manhattan for years. The 1930 census shows Catharina as a widow at the address. Two of her grandchildren were living with her at that time - Blanche and Gertrude Murray, daughters of John Murray and Louise Wagner Murray.

I am the granddaughter of John and Louise Murray.
