I was researching silent film actress, Ruth Stonehouse, and some relatives in some older posts wanted to know what happened to her mother Georgia Worster Stonehouse. I found a birth record which listed a mother, Georgia Worster, born in Iowa from Chicago on familysearch.org. I think she fudged her age a bit on the birth record, but it looks like she married a lawyer named Edward Lamb in Chicago.

I have a little more information to work with. James Hilton Day was born on Oct. 11, 1917 in Manchester, N.H. He died in June, 1953. He was son of Charles H. Day and Sadie Bent Forbes. He married Jeannette Stonehouse and may have had other wives as well. She was daughter of Albert Mace Stonehouse, who was born on June 24, 1879 in Lexington, Indiana. Albert died on Aug. 5, 1944 in Nashua, N.H. He married Jessamine M. Boden on Oct. 2, 1922 in Nashua, N.H. He was son of Adam Euart Stonehouse and Angenette Josephine Mace. Any further information on Albert Mace Stonehouse, his wife, and his children, including Jeannette ( Stonehouse ) Day , would be very much appreciated. I already have the rest of the Stonehouse line traced back to Scotland. Can anyone help?
Jean Mayo

Hi Paul:

I took some pictures through the fence a couple of years back. I was not able to see all the stones. I have not been inside the cemetery. If a clean up does happen, I would appreciate being notified. I will participate if it does not conflict with my work hours. I would also like a chance to carefully photograph each head stone before time takes more wear on them.

Scott

Thanks for your quick reply. Where did you get the information? As far as I know it is all correct except for Jane's date of death and burial place. I've assumed she died after 1892 because her son, James Jackson Ibbotson, died in Detroit, Michigan in 1892 and his newspaper death notice said "Toronto papers please copy." I've only found one death notice on Isaac Stonehouse, but it was a two-sentence notice with no details and did not mention survivors. Do you know of any transcription of the names of all the people buried in the Stonehouse Burying Grounds?

Scott
Just found your post of 2003 regarding the Stonehouse Cemetery in Etobicoke. The burials there are of my forebears, descendents of Joseph and Ann HUGILL STONEHOUSE of Yorkshire, England. Their sons, Joseph (and wife, Martha RUSHFORTH) and Robert (and wife, Ann HARKER, my g-g-g-g-grandparents) emigrated from Yorkshire to Etobicoke in 1819 and 1830, respectively.
I would appreciate - immensely - receiving copies of your photos of those stones.
I also would enjoy sharing information with others of this particular line.
Nancy
keithnancy@t-one.net
Petch, Stonehouse and Barnes are names in my ancestry. Do you have any info on a Mary Barnes who married a John Petch? He was much older (b. 1809) than she (In the 1880 Oregon census he was listed as 70 and she was 36) It was his second marriage. I believe they were married in Ontario though. They later lived in the U.S. In 1870 they were in Eau Claire WI. She was shot to death in about 1882 in Oregon apparently over a dispute possibly over lumber rights. He died 1890. Does anything ring a bell?
