I am looking for info on or descendants of twin girls, May and Fannie Strothers, born April 1886. Father Harry, Mother Lille. Found on the 1900 Bucks Co. PA census in Upper Makefield. I am searching for any info on the people above. Evelyn was an African American opera singer in NYC in the 1940's. she married a Mr. Strothers. Their son was Richard Edwin Strothers. This son may have been a "JR", making that name the name of Evelyn's husband as well.

It is believed that the Strothers lived in NJ part of metro area.

Evelyn's father was Edwin Jordan, his father, Richard Jordon. Both men supposedly came from Spain into NYC in late 1800s early 1900s.

I am looking for descendants of Mell Pearline RENFRO who was born in Jackson Co OK 17 May 1901 and died 3 Nov 1933 in Littlefield, Lamb Co TX) and married at Altus, Jackson Co OK on 3 December a Woodford STROTHERS.
They had three children: Wade who married Wanda Miller, Wanda Strothers who married Jack Kaufman and Mark Strothers. All we know about Mark is that he was born 30 Mar 1929 and died 1956).

His grandfather was Jack strother. I have no dates on him but the birth date of my mother in law was oct.26, 1923. so the jack i'm hunting should be born somewhere around the turn of the century. don't know where he was born, but believed to have died in dallas texas. Early 1800 Strother Willis connections in Louisiana

Francis Strother was born about 1823 in Louisiana; his wife Mary S. Strother was born about 1827 in Louisiana.

They are listed in the 1850 Rapides Parish. La. Census (household 661) with four children: Martha (age 8), Elizabeth (age 6), Solomon (age 5), and Mary Ann (age 3).

It is very interesting to note that the following are all neighbors in 1850 with Francis Mary Strother above mentioned:

1) Agerton Willis; Rev. Joseph Willis' eldest son born about 1785 (household 660).

2) William Strother born about 1817 and married to Mary born about 1826 and in the same household with Rev. Joseph Willis' daughter Mary born about 1787 and is probably the mother of William Strother's wife Mary (659).

3) Joseph Willis, Jr.; born about 1792; Rev. Joseph Willis' son (658).

4) Lemuel Willis born about 1812; He is also a son of Rev. Joseph Willis (657).

5) John Strother born about 1820 who is married to Eliza born about 1818 (654).

6) William Willis born in 1804; Also a Rev. Joseph Willis' son (653).

7) Joseph P. Willis Rev. Joseph Willis' grandson and a son of Joseph Willis, Jr. (652).

8) Richard Strother born about 1806 and also in the same household a Sally Strother born about 1787 in South Carolina (651). She could be Richard's mother.

Now concerning which of Rev. Joseph Willis children does Eliza Willis descend from:

The two Willis sisters Mary (born about 1827) and Eliza (born about 1818) could not be the daughters of Rev. Joseph Willis' son Lemuel Willis (born 1812) nor his son William Willis (born 1804) because of the ages. Joseph Willis Jr. wife was born about 1810 and married in 1814 (that leaves him out).

That leaves Rev. Joseph Willis' son Agerton Willis and that is who I believe is the father of Mary and Eliza Willis. There are five reasons why I believe this:

1) Mary and Francis Strother are living next door to Agerton Willis in 1850. That's strong evidence in 1850.

2) The dates fit.

3) Agerton Willis' son Rev. Daniel H. Willis, Sr.'s two eldest daughters were named Eliza born about 1842 and Mary Jane born about 1845. I believe he named them after his sisters: Eliza and Mary.

4) Family tradition from my family states that Rev. Daniel H. Willis, Sr.'s sister would read the Bible while he preached because he was blind in his later years.

5) Rev. Daniel Hubbard Willis, Sr. was born in 1817; a year before Eliza -- that's a match.

I have information on Caroline Willis Strother (1855-1931) daughter of Lemuel Willis granddaughter of Rev. Joseph Willis.
John Houston Strother, Sr. (1852-1926) Husband of Caroline Willis Strother. William (Willie) Strother (1879-1963) professor at Louisiana College for 35 years and a deacon. Hattie Bernice Strother (1897-1948) beloved Dean of Women Louisiana College for 21 years. Effie Tatum Strother (wife of Willie Strother). Greene Wallace Strother (1892-1981) Southern Baptist missionary emeritus to China and Malaysia.
Nellie Vernice Strother (1899-1984) educator and prominent Baptist youth leader. Harry Winfield Strother (1894-1920) died from injuries in a football game. Martha Strother Ford (1882-1966) two sons were deacons. Rev. John Houston Strother, Jr. (1873-1950) first principal of Acadia Academy and longtime missionary of Louisiana Baptist. Organized several churches in Louisiana. Julius Scott Strother (1889-1966) was a deacon and helped organized several churches; one of his sons was a preacher. Katie Strother Head (1884-1979) was always active in church life.
