Thanks Allan. I will follow your suggestion. Have you done any dna testing to aid in your search? if you have, we could compare genetic information to see if there is a match.

Hello . You can see some information about Strudwick's on the Weguelin Family Tree ( via Google ).

Try this , once you have found the site enter the security code which is 1250 , then go to view , then family ,then go to the menu FAMILY OF and select Wiseman William born 1634 .

This is a good starting point , simply select the children of William Wiseman , they are shown in his box together with his wife or wives , carry on down the tree in this way and you will get to Theodosia Strudwick , this is where I got stuck in 1760 , there is a gap of 100 years and then I found another Theodosia Studwick around 1860 , this one I think I have traced to the present day in the USA .
Both the Studwicks's and the Weguelin's travelled around the West Indies and South America in the 1800's and Aida and Ada are popular names in the family .

You can also look up any other name that may be of interest to you from this same menu , and I am very interested to see if your Aida is my missing link .

Thank you Alan Weguelin
I too been looking for information on Strudwicks/Streadwick, Steadwick from Trewlany in Jamaica. My grandmother's name was Aida Mae Strudwick who migrated to Panama. She was born in the 1800s. I have not been able to find any records of her birth in Jamaica. I do have X dna results from my father, and the results show that his X chromosome is overwhelmingly European with some African and Mediterranean influence. The X chromosome is passed down mainly by the women in the family, which leads me to believe that there must be some recent European ancestry in the tree.

Yes, we share that part of the Strudwick family tree. Understand the father of John senior was Robert who was also father of Sarah and her brother William. As you know there were two Roberts buried in Bramshott in 1789 but I am not really sure where they came from---Cranleigh perhaps. Am unable to find details of Mary but Ann Baxter has been located.Good to hear from you. Haydn

Oh Dear, From my experience and that of some others, the Strudwicks are good at vanishing from records. My problems start about 1800 and like yourself I am still searching.Perhaps the full records on this site for the London Parishs may be worth exploring in detail.Another thought the Hiring Fairs for any local farm workers/domestic staff.
Thanks for the suggestion. I can't find the family in census records for that area either. They remain elusive. I can trace children Alfred and Elizabeth to their deaths - but the parents and children older than Elizabeth seem to disappear after the 1841 census. The youngest, Susan, was in the workhouse with Alfred and Elizabeth in the 1851 census, but she then disappears too.

I am looking for any information on James Strudwick who was a shoemaker who lived in Shepperton Parish, Middlesex from 1822 to at least 1842. He was married twice - with first wife Mary he had the following children: Ann (b. 1822), Charles (b. 1824), Charlotte (b. 1829); with second wife Ann Forey he had the following children: William (b. ~1832), Eliza (b. 1833), Sarah (b. 1835), Sophia (b. 1836), Elizabeth (b. 1838), Alfred (b. 1841) & Susan (b. 1842). I have found the 1841 census and birth records for all of the children except William. By the 1851 census, the three eldest children are in the Staines Union Workhouse, Stanwell, Middlesex. I have not been able to find any record of the rest of family - no census records, no marriage records, no death/burial records, no immigration records. Am wondering if the rest of the family died - perhaps an illness. Any suggestions as to where I should look?

John was brickmaker.

Sarah married Stephen Pickett in Rudgwick abt 1825ish, but I'm unable to find the exact date. She died 15 Jul 1890 at the grand old age of 87 in Hastings.

Meanwhile Sarah (mother) died 27 Mar 1846, aged 82 in Rudgwick.

As I can only find Sarah as the child of John & Sarah thus far, if there are any more out there, I would be interested.

Thanks, Jan

Have come across a Charoltte Strudwick born c1831 in Wisborough Green who married a George Luxford in Dec q 1850 in Petworth District.

Charlotte may have been the daughter of Charles and Sarah Strudwick who were born c1881 & 1816 both in Wisborough Green. Other siblings could be Charles c1835, Mark c1836, Edwin c1838, Alfred c1840, Harriet c1842, Jane 1846, Eliza c 1847, Mary c1850, George c1853 & Rosa & c1857. Not 100% sure on all of these!

Also have another Strudwick - Elizabeth born c1773 also in Wisborough Green who married a William Penfold in 1795 in Wisborough Green.

Guessing that there is a connection between these. Any help appreciated a si seem t be going round in circles!

Hi,
I have just started putting my collection of strudwick(e) research on the net, and I am sure it may contain information of use to others. http://www.strudwicke.com In particular it includes a great many wills. I am also gradually adding strudwick family trees to the site, and would welcome any strudwick families contributing towards linking in their trees with the bigger STRUDWICK family. Stradwick,Stredwick,,Strudwicke are also included.
Cheers
Marcus Strudwicke

Edward Strudwick family

I am looking for anything on Edward Strudwick and family. All that I have is birth March of 1872, married to Sarah Ellen unknown. I believe he died in the early 1900s and she remarried George Blythman. Their sons were Alfred, Albert, Arthur and William and daughters Rose and Daisy. My great-grandmother is Daisy, but I have no info on siblings other than names (and some old pics). I would love to get Sarah Ellen's parents and Edward's date of death. If I manage to get the children's info it would be a bonus, but the straight line parentage is most important. Anything anyone can offer is greatly appreciated :)

Jeff

If your Ggrandfather was William James C born Hackney (WW! date?) We don't have a William YET. However, my ggrandfather was Arthur Crosby born 1866 and he had 2 younger brothers James John Crosby & James Francis Crosby born Lon 1843 & 1863.It is likely further children were born between 1843-1866. Their father James, born 1816 had a brother William born 1806 in Stepney. There are a lot of James and Williams around my side of the family. Is this of any help? Looks like you'll have to go to Ohio!

Hi Celia,

Thanks for the interest. My great-grandfather and his brother are the only 2 London, UK Crosbys I know of in our family. They were born in Homerton and stayed in Rotherhidhe during WWI. They left soon after for Canada and the only "Crosby" line is now in Ohio, other lines dying out. The parents were from Suffolk - Bromeswell and some Woo**** Green (mother Sarah Raymer). This is as far back as I have gone on the Suffolk end of things. If the line from John and Sarah to my family has any interest for you, let me know and I will be happy to fill it in for you.

Looking for information on Hannah Strudwick, mother of John Edward. John was born Bermondsey, London, 1834, baptised Camberwell 1835, married Ruth Bignell 1857. Other Strudwick/Bignell marriage suggests that could have been cousins. No record of John's father
