I am researching my 2nd great grandfather's line. Peter was born in Louisiana (see 1880 census, it lists his father as being born in KY and mother in Ireland). Does anyone know anything about this family. (Peter married Mary Casey, born NOLA, his mother was Margaret Stubblefield (maiden name unknown, born in Ireland).

Park L. Stubblefield Obituary
I am transcribing obituaries from our local newspaper archives (Scotia, Nebraska):

The Scotia Register
Volume XXXIII, Thursday, September 15, 1927, pg. 1, column 1
PARK L. STUBBLEFIELD PASSES AWAY SUDDENLY
The many friends and neighbors of Park L. Stubblefield were deeply grieved to hear of his sudden death last Friday morning, the cause of which was given as heart failure. Mr. Stubblefield had attended the county fair at Greeley the day before his death and was feeling as well as usual until evening. The doctor was called a couple of times during the night and death came at about eight-thirty in the morning.
Park L. Stubblefield was born at Carrol, Iowa, August 12, 1868, and passed from this life at his home last Friday morning at the age of 59 years and 27 days. He was married to Mrs. Jennie Cummings, July 16th, 1903 and to them was born one daughter, Ruth. Mr. Stubblefield leaves beside his wife and daughter Ruth, his step-son Elton, who meant as much to him as his own boy, to survive him, three brothers: Elias, of Cando, N. D., Richard of Molta, Mont., and Elmer who also lives somewhere in Montana.
Mr. Stubblefield was a devoted member of The Methodist Episcopal Church and at the time of his death held the position as a steward. He was a firm believer in the home, the church and the school. The interests of his home were always on his heart and it held an exalted place in his life. His home was a sacred shrine of devotion, of trust and confidence, although it was but a humble one yet he saw that peace and fellowship and harmony prevailed there. The church held a very important place in his life, and he was always willing to sacrifice his time and pleasure for its upbuilding. He was so interested in the building of the new church and it was but a few weeks past that he and a few of his friends came to the Parsonage and asked if his Pastor would show him through the building and explain the different rooms so that he could visualize more plainly what the structure would be like. The last thing he did was to purchase a Memorial window on the west end of the main auditorium in memory of his wife's father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Hamilton, who toiled so faithfully for the church in the early days. I think the inscription on that window should also be in the memory of this man of God whose spirit and life reflected the teachings of his Christ.
Mr. Stubblefield was a great believer in the public schools and was a member of the school board for many years in his district.
Brother Stubblefield was a Mason whom his brethern will miss from their ranks. It was his request that the great order of which he was a member would have charge of the services at his grave. And by the grace of God and the help of his Masonic brothers his wish was fulfilled.
He and his wife waited to join the Eastern Star until their daughter Ruth could go in with them and they as a united family assumed the sacred obligations of the Eastern Star.
We bid him farewell, and pray that in God's good time we shall meet again on that glorious shore where there is no more pain or sorrow and where God shall wipe away all tears. Friends we turn from the grave, not as those who have no hope, but believing in the Eternal promises of Christ who said, “In my Father's house there are many mansions and I go to prepare a place for you”... “where I am there ye shall be also.” We are richer today in spirit and soul for having known Mr. Stubblefield. Let us go forth with a greater determination to live our lives so that by the grace of God we may follow this, our brother.
Interment was made at The Mount Hope Cemetery at Scotia, September 12th, Rev. G. A. Randall in charge.

Julie Middendorf
mjmiddendorf@nctc.net

I am transcribing articles from our local newspaper archives (Scotia, Nebraska):

The Scotia Register
Volume XXXIII, Thursday, September 22, 1927, pg. 1, column 3
A WELL KNOWN COUPLE MARRIED SUNDAY
On Sunday, September 18, occurred the marriage of Miss Ruth Stubblefield to Harry Beck. Both of these young folks live near Scotia and are very well and favorably known. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Jennie Stubblefield, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Beck. Both were residents of the Wallace Creek neighborhood.
The ceremony was solemnized at 3 o'clock in the afternoon at the M. E. Parsonage in Scotia, the Rev. G. A. Randall officiating. Only the immediate members of the two families were present.
Mr. and Mrs. Beck will make their home with Mrs. Stubblefield on her farm in Wallace Creek.
This young couple has many friends and acquaintances throughout this vicinity who join in wishing them happiness.

Julie Middendorf
mjmiddendorf@nctc.net

There is a Selia A. Dean listed with Find A Grave Memorial #42054994. She was born 25 Apr 1855 & died 29 Dec 1941. Her grave is located in the Standing Rock Methodist Church Cemetery in Chambers County, Alabama. I am a descendent of George Dean & Sabina Abney and think there might be a connection with Selia although I have not been able to document it.

Do you know of Robert and Anne had a son by the name of William? I've found conflicting accounts of this, but it looks like William may be the youngest child of Robert and Anne (if what I found is correct)

Stubblefields of Helena, MT

Seeking to connect with Stubblefields of Helena, MT. In particular, I am seeking to locate James "Jim" Stubblefield, or family connected to him, in an effort to help my cousin locate her biological father and any relatives who may connect. The discovery of the name of her father and some information about him is a very recent thing. This James Stubblefield would be around 80 or + years old,if living, and was married to a Jettie in 1963-64, in Reno, NV. He lived for a time in Roseburg,OR. He came from a family living around Helena, who owned a ranch and a bar. He has a son named Robert or Bobby Stubblefield, and perhaps two other sons. The desire to connect with her family is solely a longing to know who she is and her paternal roots, and not for any monitary purpose, as she is well established in her own life, and is a mother and grandmother. Thank you for your help. Please contact me directly jeanmayfield@comcast.net.

I am also looking for any Stubblefields. I am from the midwest. In my notes I show that there was a Minerva Miles who was the spouse of Bailey Stubblefield. Bailey is the son of Lewis and Elizabeth(Besty) Stubblefield.

More on Edward from Charles city & Halifax Co.

After over 10 years of searching, I’m still looking for the linage of Edward Stubblefield who married Mary Munford Lightfoot abt 1786 in Charles City Co. Edward was born abt. 1755 in Halifax Co. Died prior to Nov. 1808 in Halifax Co. The question that I have tried to answer for all these years - Who were Edward’s parents, g-parents, etc?? Here are a few things about an “Edward in Charles City & Halifax Co.” that I have evidence of:

On Nov.1754, a petition to the county court was approved at the request of Simon, John, & Edward Stubblefield to settle the estate of deceased John Stubblefield.

In March 1762, Edward deeded property to his brother John in Charles City court.

Lt. Edward S. was in the C. C. militia in Jun 1778.

Edward’s name is on a Petition Against Paper Money from C. C. to the VA House of Delegates on Nov 1780.

In 1781, Edward was given 2 warrants for beef supplied to the army.

In Jan. 1784, Edward granted permission to issue marriage license to Seth S. & Lucy Southall. (Think this was probably Edward b. 1755) Somewhere I’ve seen that Seth had a son named John(suggesting his father was John)

The following was sent to me (but with no sources):
Simon Stubblefield (b. abt 1635, d. 1700)
Simon Stubblefield (b. abt 1660, d. bef. 1719)
John Stubblefield (b. abt. 1695, d. 1732)
John Stubblefield (b. abt. 1725, d. abt. 1780) m. Eve Finch
Edward S. b. 1755.

I’ve also been sent info stating that Edward’s father was George Stubblefield who married Keziah Read, but don’t believe this is correct.

Soooo many Edwards & Johns & Georges & Simons! I hope the above info fits with someone else's data & sources & might clear up some of this haze?? Thanks for your input!!

Surber58@windstream.net
I am just beginning to look into my family history. I am a Stubblefield from the Greensboro North Carolina area.
My dad was Henry Clay Stubblefied and had many brothers, for some reason the name preston seems to be remembered during conversation. I know that someone in our family line has done a detailed family history.

Toma Stubblefield Trombetti
