Looking for information on Dr. Thomas Wesley STUMM.
Born Sept. 1871 in Williamson County, Illinois. Attended several schools, won't bore you with details. Finally graduated from Rush Medical College in Chicago with his M.D. Located his medical practice around 1904 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Did post graduate work in Vienna, Austria in 1903-1904. in 1914 he's back in Vienna, Austria with his wife and dies of heart disease. His body is sent back to the states and his funeral and burial were in Carterville, Williamson County, Illinois. He's burried in Russell Cemetery in Carterville.

I'm trying to figure out who Thomas Wesley STUMM's wife was?

His parents are Thomas and Mary (DUPREE) STUMM. Mary was still living when Thomas Wesley STUMM passed away. Thomas (the older) died 1913 and Mary died 1915. Both are burried in Russell Cemetery, Carterville, Williamson County, Illinois. Thomas and Mary were married in Massac County, Illinois. 1860 in Massac County, 1870 in Williamson County, Illinois.

Other families connected with these southern Illinois STUMMs are RUSSELL, WARD, and BOREN.

Stumm,Kleinschmidt Family Bible?
Rescued an old German bible dated 1856 from a garage sale in NJ. Has an anniversary birthday card for Mrs. Amelia Kleinschmidt 1850-1900 (her 50th BD), with New York City address. Also contains a death notice for Robert Stumm, aged 41 years, Jan 10,1895, Brooklyn, NY. There are names written in the bible (tattered and loose pages) but most are very hard to read. I see what looks like Henry Kleinschmidt b. 1816 d 1888? "Mother" died Oct 23 1888, born Oct 20 1818 and "Father" died April 8th 1872, born 1816. The only other names I can read are "Louis Charles" and perhaps "Rudolph". Tucked into the bible there are 3 tintypes and a number of photo cards, including one which must be of "mother" since it has the same dates on the back. The bible is not in good condition, but I would love to see this reunited with family members. Please e-mail me if you think you're connected.

I would be very greatful for any help that anyoine could provide. Thank you.
Amber

Stumm family in Germany?

I am trying to find information about Johan Wilhelm Stumm and his family. I know this:

JOHAN WILHELM STUMM was born 7 March 1791 in Germany and died 2 April 1869 in Angelsdorf, Germany at age 78. His wife was ANNA MARGARET VASSERHEFFEN (may have been Vasserhovin) Their children were:

ANNA Maria Stumm- born 14 December 1824 in Angelsdorf, Germany and died on 1 December 1890 in Marathon City, Wisconsin, USA at age 65.
FRANZ Stumm - born 6 October 1826 in Germany and died 1 December 1910 in Wisconsin, USA at age 84.
FREDERICH Stumm - born in 1829 in Germany and died on 4 August 1891 in Wisconsin, USA at age 62.
MATHIES Stumm - born in 1831 in Germany and died in 1890 in Wisconsin USA at age 59.
ADAM Stumm was born 16 May 1835 in Germany and dies on 6 October 1929 in Wisconsin, USA at age 94.

An interesting fact is that Johan Stumm's only daughter, Anna, worked for a man named Schnider while she lived in Germany, most likely Angelsdorf. Anna and her employer had an affair that resulted in two children. The first child, Wilhelm Stumm was born on 1860. Wilhelm did marry and have at least one child as my grandmother found a photo of Wilhelm and his very pregnant wife that her great grandmother (Anna) had until her death. Wilhelm was given up for adoption. However the second time that Anna found herself pregnant by her employer, her family sent her to Cologne, Germany were her second son Heinrich "Henry" Joseph Stumm was born on 12 September 1864. Then she and her son traveled to Marathon City, Wisconsin, USA to be with her brothers. In Wisconsin she met and married Thomas Bedynek. Heinrich then added Bedynek to his name. Anna and Thomas had a daughter Kartheryn Maria Bedynek.

This is all information so that it can be cross referenced with anyone else's famiy history. What I really would like to know is more about Johan or his wife, Anna Margeret, and their families.

If any one had any infromation I would be very greatful.

Amber

In October 1963, I was attending Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I was invited to dinner by Harry and Shirley Burns who lived in Marion, Iowa. Somehow, I think Shirley was related to my father's side of the family. She knew my Dad, Paul Riedl, Sr, Martha/Matt (Haigh) Naviaux, Irving Naviaux, Cora (Haigh) Riedl, my grandmother and most of my other family members. I believe Shirley's father was Sid Stumm and her mother was Maud. I am not sure if I am related to Sidney or Maud. Perhaps Sidney, Maud and Shirley were just friends of the family. Any further input would be appreciated. I am working on our Family Tree and need to find out if there is some relation to the family or just friends.

Thanks much.

My Father was Robert Phillip Stumm, dob. 11/21/1912 I think in Lima Ohio he died in Ca. in 1967. I'm sure his Fathers name was Edward, I know his Mother's madien name was Clutter. I know his mother died shortly after his sister was born, I beleive her name was LennaJane, LennaJane married a man with the last name of Cupp, last I heard they lived in Riverside Ca. With all the research I've done, I can't find any record of Edward Stumm, or of his wife _____ Clutter, I hope someone out there can help, Thank You Lee Ann

I am a Stumm by marriage but my father-in-law had a brother named Ed who died in Iowa in the 40's or 50's. There were four or five boys and a sister named Florence who moved to Florida after the war. All of them were from the mid-west. My father-in-law was the youngest;the oldest brother was nearly twenty when he was born.
Please let me know if this will help you or if you need additional info. My mother-in-law is still alive and can possibly come up with more data.
D. Stumm
