My family is believed to have come from the area of Suggs Mill Pond. From what I have heard his Aunt and Uncle ran the Mill. I can't find any information to verify this. My great grandfather was William Suggs, He had a brother (name not known) they left home in their late teens or early twenties and worked on canal in the Santee Swamp. Any help/info would be appreciated.

Fannie was also my Great great grandmother, my grandmother was Mae. I just recently found the marriage cert. for Fannie and her maiden was Pope. I have some pictures of the family on my tree if you'd like to take a look. I know my biggest problem is finding a census with my grandmother (mae) and Lucy listed on them. I also have the family bible and Jennie stood as witness in my grandmothers wedding. I don't know alot but I am willing to share what I have.

I'm searching Suggs also. Fannie was my great-great grandmother-Jennie-Elizabeth Summers- Myrele Tuck (my mother) Jennie & Lucy were sisters. Lucy& my grandmother Elizabeth were like sister & very close in age. I was told Fannies' maiden name was Bowen, & having no luck finding her. please any info will help-I'll try Poe (also seen Pope} All sibling names are correct, never heard of Loven.

My Family is from around that area, I do not know much about my father's side of the family other than my Grandfather was named Harvey and he married Annilee Watson. His siblings were named Clifton, Bill, Rehba, Monk and Mauldie

I am doing research for a coworker. His father's name is Charles (Charlie) Suggs. He was Born in Mississippi in 1934. He passed away in 1998 in Rockford, IL. Mr. Kemp, My Great Grandmother Martha E. (Mattie) Suggs is buried in the Suggs Cemetary at Blackjack, Tx. She was married to Henry Franklin Martin 8 May 1875 in Robertson County Texas. She died when my Grandmother was 3 years old. The family researchers all have her as being born in Fl. but we really have no proof of that. Do you have any information on ger or any of her suspected ancestors? Was the Cemetary named for Calvin Washington Suggs? Could he be her kin? Reuben and Amelia were my g/g/g/grandparents. My g/g/grandfather was their son William Rogers who was born in Horry SC in 1836. He married Delila Caroline Boyd and moved his family to Dawson GA in 1860. He was captured during the battle of Nashville on December 16, 1864 and sent to Camp Douglas in Chicago as a POW> He died in March 1865 at Camp Douglas.

I am looking for a woman whose last name was Suggs. She married my greatgrandfather in 1872-73,Jonah Tebbets Thompson. The Suggs woman was to have been from or lived in Fayetteville, Ar. Jonah and she had four children. My grandfather, Albert Thompson, was one of the children. I have found the names of Suggs in Arkansas Searcy County at the time my greatfather lived. I haven't been able to find any record of her. My mother thought part of her name was Bernell. If you have any information that you can share, I would greatly appreciate your help.

I'm not sure where this comes in, but my maternal great grandfather was Howard Suggs, a plumber in the small town of Sapulpa, OK. One of his daughters was named Gertrude (Gertie?) This branch of Suggs migrated up from Texas,through Oklahoma, and ended up in Kansas City, Kansas.

Also, have you noticed that defensive player for the Baltimore Ravens, Terrell Suggs? I wonder how he fits on the family tree?

Sorry I have had no luck on finding my ggg grandfather William Berry Munson sister whom was exposed to have married a Suggs (probably in New Jersey) and move to Texas the same time as her brother it was said they moved to Smith Co Texas...that is all I have.

It was my understanding that the name Suggs was Welsh so who knows? If I find any more clues I will pass them on, I am just starting to research our family and it is overwhelming.

Thanks friends for reawakening this SUGGS Family posting. I see that I made the mistake of writing STUGGS instead of SUGGS. The surname SUGGS is a guess because MARY SUGGS & AARON LEE had a son by the name of AARON SUGGS LEE.

If anybody knows, for sure, what MARY SUGG'S maiden name was, please post that information.

Secondly, someone offered to send SUGGS pictures to those who are interested. Please do and thank you.

Lastly several years ago MR. WEBB PRUIT LEE and I placed new stones at the graves of AARON LEE and MARY SUGGS. They can be found in the Lee Cemetery, at Plattsburg, Winston/Neshoba County, MS.

Hi David - Bessie Suggs b 1896 in Texas is my 2nd cousin once removed. She was the daughter of Howard Suggs who was the son of Great Grandaunt Harriet Atkinson (c 1854) and Mingo Suggs (c 1855) of Belvoir, Pitt, NC. Her 2nd marriage was to Warren Staten (s/b Staton) in Texas before the family relocated to Oklahoma.

Harriet's brother Aaron Atkinson was my great-grandfather.

Thank you friend for responding to my old response. All I know about the SUGGS Family is that a MARY SUGGS married my ancestor, AARON LEE. He possibly married her in Johnston County, NC. They first moved to Concuh County, AL abpit 1815. From there they moved to middle Alabama, and lastly they moved to Neshoba County, AL. Both died at about 1857.

They had a son by the name of 'AARON SUGGS LEE.' And several other children. I am not aware of Indian Blook popping up in the family. Please tell me when and where this might have occurred.

You or someone offer some PICS of this family. If the PICS are old, say prior to 1900, I would certainly like to see copies.

Sorry I am so late in responding. I am buried under tons of paper.

With a name like BRAZEAL, I suspect that you are from the Neshoba County, MS.

His World War I Draft Registration card said he was born 27 Jul 1890 in Grifton, which is in Pitt County. I cant find him in the 1900 census..anyone have any better luck?

Anyone connected to these? They moved from Cabarrus Co., NC to St. Clair Co., AL around 1840 or after. I don't know any of their children or what happened to them. According to court records, Morvil was the father of an illegitimate child born about 1815 in Cabarrus Co., NC. He and Jane (middle name possibly Catherine) were married about 1817 in Cabarrus Co., NC.
