I am researching the Super family of Southeastern Pennsylvania (Counties of Philadelphia, Delaware, & Montgomery). I am trying to trace ancestry of the following Super family of Haverford, PA (Delaware County): A Joseph Super (1825?-?) and Margaret Pike (1829?-?) who had at least these three children:Oliver E. Super (1846-1927), Albert P. Super (1849-1927), and Morris Y. (1847-1917). I am in the process of organizing a considerable amount of information. Very very interested in what information you have. I would also love to share any information that I may have of interest to you.
Thank You
Davis Hadly (davishadly@comcast.net)

Super and Superczynski surnames from Poznan, Poland to central Minnesota

A new family tree, Super_Superczynski_MN, is available at http:\\wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com (WorldConnect Project). It can be reached by entering SuperMN in the database window. The family tree includes many, but certainly not all, of the Super surnames which originated from three Superczynski brothers who immigrated from the Poznan region of Poland (then Posen, Prussia)beginning in 1873. They used the Super surname after arrival in the USA. The three brothers and two of their sisters eventually settled in central Minnesota near the Village of Flensburg in Morrison County. Many of the offspring of these five Superczynski siblings are included as well as various other surnames resulting from marriages. Anyone interested in more information, or who can provide additional data or corrections, is encouraged to contact Arlin at amsuper@charter.net

Hi,

I've absolutely no idea where to begin a proper search of my family heritage or how to make heads or tails of the endless info on the net. I haven't any idea how we 'Super's' initially came to be in South Africa. My grandfather's name was Eric Super, who recently passed away. My dad's name is Sidney Ivan Super - and I'm Nicholas Super, born 1985. The only further information I could garner from my grandfather is that we were granted the right to 'bear arms'... and the coat of arms included two opposing ostriches. I've no further info to go on. Would anyone have a clue where I could source some reliable info?

Re: Super Family of Schuylkill County

I have spent years researching George Zuber (sometimes spelled Suber, Soober, Zeiber, Seiber and Zuver) He came from Rotterdam and was from German parents of Hanover named Marie or Catherine Marie Duchesne and John Michael Zuber. George was born 1680 in Rotterdam and came to New Amsterdam (NYC) and was married there in 1608 to Margaret Van Horn. He settled a few years later in Newtown, Bucks County PA. His one son moved on to Lancaster PA. That sone was Daniel Zuber. I believe his other sons were in Berks, Chester and Schuylkill County. I am like you in that I can trace from Daniel down to us and have had lots of help from experts such as Larry Dagley. My intuition tells me after spending a solid 8 hours in the Doylestown LIbrary in Bucks County and seeing that George's children spelled their names so many different ways......that lots of the PA eastern counties such as Chester, Bucks, Bern and Lancaster have his descendants there in colonial times. Of course the children probably in the Baptismal records and marriage records and even land records that exist arent respnsible for misspellings. It just wasnt considered that important then which makes it all very hard for us. Recently a woman contacted me who is definitely connected to my Alabama branch of the Zubers who des. from Daniel born in Newtown, and she said that her great grandmother insists that the name they came here to NYC was not Zuber but Zuver. I have seen lots of Suvers so who knows?

He resided in Wayne Co., OH at the time of his children's births. He is buried there I believe. He was born in either OH or PA.

Hi, Pat

Nice to meet you. From the sketchy information I have about my Tutko family roots, I believe that our families are related. My information comes from Mitro Jurchisin's book, the Minnesota Historical Society and the memories of my mother Dorothy and my aunt Irene, both in their 80s and living in California.

I believe my mother and your grandmother Anna Leschisin would be first cousins. My mother is the youngest of 13 children of Michael Tutko and Susana Kurty. My grandfather Michael died when my mother was quite young, so she does not have many memories of him or of his family but she does remember that he had two sisters who immigrated to America, Tatiana and Mary. She remembers that Tatiana married a Leschisin (I believe this is your grandmother) and Mary married a Tanchin (Vasil, or William). I have followed the Tanchins to the present generation, but have had no information about the Leschisins until your letter.

One of my cousins recently visited Becherov and shared some photos, and I have a complete history of my Tutkos and would be willing to share information if you would like to look at that branch of your family.

You can contact me directly at deanchristianson@aol.com
Hi Dean,
I am also researching my mother's family line. My grandfathers name was William Jurchisin. He came to the USA in 1906 from Becherov and settled in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He married my grandmother Anna Leschisin. Anna's parents were William Leschisin and her mothers maiden name was Tutko, both from Becherov. There is an interesting booklet called, Carpathian Villiae People, by Mitro Jurchisin. Mitro compiled listings of people that immigrated to the USA from 1880 to 1947. He lists the villiages that they came from. Mitro immigrated from Becherov also but there are over a dozen other different villiage listed, Komlosa being one of them. From the villiage of Komlosa (women married to men not from Komlosa), it show Mrs. Tutko, Michael / maiden name Susana Kurtey. Becherov also lists Tutko, Michael married a women not from Becherov. If you can get a copy of this booklet I'm sure you would find it of interest. I found it by searching Mitro Jurchisin's name. Hope this helps.
Pat Frazier, Nevada, USA

Re: Super Family of Schuylkill County

Hello to you both.. I sometimes think my family fell out of the sky too. My grandmother (her parents were Lithuanian) was a Zupersky(i), which we believe is a variation of a name that is similar (Zaperski(y) (s),Superski (y). But what is interesting is that her family resided in the Schuykill County area, and in/around Mahoney City. We have her fathers original naturalization papers and it list his name as Antonias Zaperskis (about 1890ish), and being a native of Russia-Poland. Several members of this family are buried in St. Joesph's Cemetery in Mahoney City. I was wondering if either of you had ever heard of this surname.

Thanks, Diana Morris, Newport News, VA

Hello, Peter,

I have just begun to research my mother's family line. Her father (my grandfather) Michael John Tutko came to the USA from Becherov in 1888. I am working from very little background knowledge as Michael died in 1933 when my mother was very young. Some of the other surnames that are associated with Michael are Leschisin and Tanchin and perhaps Varchol who married his sisters. Czuper, Franko, Zurbey may be aunts or uncles. Masley and Jurchisin may have married into the family. Boris, Semanko and Banisky were members of his wedding party in the US when he married Susanna Kurtey from Komlosa. If any of these names have meaning to you, please reply or if you have knowledge of the villages of Becherov and Komlosa.

Thanks, Dean Christianson, Tulsa Oklahoma, USA

Unfortunately, I currently do not have much insight that would be of any help. There a a number of Joseph Super's in Southeastern Pennsylvania in the late 1700's and early 1800's. Trying to identify who is who and their relationships has led me to a road block. I believe that many of the Super families in this area are a descendent of a Phillip Super, a germant immigrant.

Good Luck
Davis Hadly

I do not want to lead you on a wild goose chase, but my Super family does have numerous Morris Super names.
Morris Super 1846-1917 m. Tracy Wharton
Son: Morris Joseph Super 1876-? m. Estella Voshell
Son: Morris Super 1901-? m. Ada Brangan

This family lived in Philadelphia, PA.
You would somehow need to find out more information on your Morris Super to check any connection (preferably a Death Certificate or obituary. In either case you will probably need a date of death and place of death.

Good Luck,
Davis Hadly

I have had no response. Someone needs to locate Rabbi Super's grave and find out what was his father's Hebrew name. Then I may be able to link him with the extensive Super tree I have recently updated - about 1300 people.

My grandmother on my father's side, Evelyn was the daughter of Walter and Celia SUPER. She married Sam Lassser whose name I carry.
My grandmother on my mother's side was born Theda RICH.
I'm still waiting to become the SUPER-RICH decendant I was meant to be!!
I'd be interested in a convention if we Supers are in fact all related!
Please keep me posted. manifest@vzavenue.net
