Re: Susie B Choate (Mother) and Reuben B. Choate (Son)

Trish,
Susie and Reuben used to be our next door neighbors when
Reuben was a boy. After Susie died, Reuben came back here
to Jamestown, TN and stayed with us a few days. He claimed
that he was a bounty hunter, and everything he did he acted
as if he was on the run or hiding from someone. He, at that time claimed to live in Texas, I think, but we didn't know whether to believe him or not because he acted so secretive. When I asked him about his children, tears filled his eyes, but he said very little. He briefly spoke of his little girl and that he had trouble being able to see her because of trouble with the mother. I think that he probably lives out west somewhere, perhaps Arizona. He was with a woman that he claimed was his wife and supposedly she was a police woman, but I didn't know whether to believe that either. I can't remember her name.
He promised to return at another time to get his mother's stuff that he asked us to store in our basement, but he never came back again. We got rid of some of the stuff, but we still have some of it. If you would like to email me
my address is genbuff55@hotmail.com. Good luck in your hunt
for him. I am sorry that your grandma died so many years ago. She would have love to have seen you. Priscilla

I am searching for any information on the last name Smittick or Smithwick. I was told that Simon Smithwick was born in North Carlina and moved to Weakley, TN with his owner and raised a family who moved to Akansas. I am trying to find a connection to my great-grandfather William Smithwick who was born 1855 in TN. Was they related or just owned by the same family. I don't have much to go by and will up date as I go along.

Greatgrandmother, Susie Miller, her Father Allen & sister Alice

Information was recently discovered as I traveled to Gonzales County, TX, that the name for Susie Miller is correct, however the last names of her siblings were incorrect. Susie was in fact born to Allen Miller and her Mother was previously married to a man, named Andrew Desmukes (Dismukes), Susie's Mother was Cely or Sealy - whose maiden name was Stephens or Stevens. Cely mothered Frank, Henry, Alice and Josephine while she was married to Andrew Desmukes or Dismukes. Cely or Sealy then remarried to Allen Miller and had Susie, and unknown if any others. All the information was learned to have occurred in Gonzales County, TX during the late 1860's to 1883. My greatgrandmother Susie Miller then married Porter Shuler in 1901 also in Gonzales County, TX, and mothered eight children with my paternal grandmother being their oldest child and my grandmother was born as Ella J. Shuler.
