Does anyone have any info on Bowen Sutton born Feb 23, 1810 and died June 10, 1868? He is the grand son of Robert Sutton, born 1747 and the son of William Sutton born 1781 and died in 1853 and his first wife, Rachel Matthews. I do not have a birth date or death date on Rachel. I am trying to collect this last bit of information so I can join the Daughters of the American Revoluiton

You are right, Rachel was his mother, Mary Newell was Bowen's wife. I have census records, however, I do not have any info on their marriage, etc. I am decended through Bowen's daughter Melissa, her daughter Edith, Edith's son Raymond Zuleger to my mother Joyce Patton Zuleger.

I may be able to help you as Bowen was my great great grandfather. His mother Rachel was born in 1780 and died in 1823. This was not Rachel Mathews. Elizabeth Mathews was Captain William Sutton's first wife.

I think we are related.....

W C SUTTON, Goodlet TX

My aunt, ANNA BELLE MCCASLIN,was married to WC SUTTON in 1927.
In the obituaries of my grandmother and grandfather, both of whom died in 1927, Belle McCaslin was listed as Mrs. W C Sutton of Goodlet, Texas. Belle lived in Oklahoma, except for the time spent in Goodlet, TX. By 1930, they were evidently divorced because Belle was living with her daughter in Tulsa.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who might have more information about Mr. Sutton. He may have been born in the late 1870s to mid 1880s, possibly in Texas.

Hi Barbara!
I saw your communication to Karen re: Roland Sutton and thought I would tell you of my Roland Sutton connection. I haven't come across too many Roland Suttons so I though this connection was interesting!
My Roland came to Australia as a very young child (6 yrs old) in 1853. His mother Joanna arrived with all her children except one - Edmond - who would have been in his early twenties. I have a strong feeling that he went to America!
Joanna's husband Edmond didn't come to Australia as he was deceased. They were married in Bristol England in 1830.
Joanna was from Wollfardisworthy, near Bideford Devon.

As I said Roland is not a name I have seen much of in connection with the Sutton line and I have been researching this for over 12 years now!
Bye for now!
Jann

Hi Kathy. My name is Johnny Sutton. James Buck Sutton and Alabama Rogers were my great great grandparents. I know James Buck was a confederate soldier (and pow) and that Alabma Rogers was reputed to be full blood Cherokee. Their son George Washington Sutton and his wife Melissa (not sure if that spelling is correct) are my great grand parents and my parents are OE Sutton aand Lora Cameron. I've been searching on and off for a while and haven't had much luck. I don't know if you're still looking but I'll watch for a response. Thanks!

There is no such thing as a family crest. Don't be taken in by companies claiming to have one.

Coats of Arms were granted to an individual and were passed down to the oldest son.

http://genealogy.about.com/od/heraldry/qt/coats_of_arms.htm

John Suttons of New Jersey and Pennsylvania

In 1803 several Sutton's, Abbott's and Peterson's arrived in southern Crawford Co., PA from New Jersey. They were all Suttons by birth. I need information about the following:
John Sutton b. 1742 NJ, d.Aft 1803, Married Stand Loper. Are they buried in the Methodist Cemetery in Geneva, PA? Geneva was originally Suttons Corners.
John Sutton b. 1765 NJ , d.1842, married Anna Garrison.
Are both buried in the Methodist Cemetery in Geneva, PA?
John Sutton b. 16 Jul 1799 in NJ, d.12 Jul 1877 Geneva, PA, married Anna Trace (Dres). Both are buried in the Methodist Cemetery in Geneva, PA.
My family history has the John Sutton, Stand Loper connection. There were Lopers living near the Sutton's in NJ.
Crawford Co., PA history states that John Sutton and son John Sutton made the trip by wagon from NJ. Was there three John's making the trip? The youngest John above would only have been four years old.
The above are my third, fourth and fifth great grandparents. Any help greatly appreciated.
Charles Coulter Port Charlotte, FL

I didn't have any information on Beverly's line at all.
Thanks so much for posting this. I am trying to find the family bible of William. I learned that it might be in the Atlanta GA area with a Farinholt from Wm.'s line. I got the info from a book....Hidden Village,Port Royal VA. This is where Wm. Farinholt(d.1846) and extended family lived. his oldest son Wm. Henry d.1870,wife& dau died 1872, so son Wm. Howard was sent to Baltimore,MD. He is my g-g-grandfather
Is this bible in the VA archives? I saw where they preserve them and have other Farinholt family bibles on line there

Crystal
Great and yes, it's me, June's son, and I'm correcting where Glenda lives, as it should be La Pine, Oregon.

Please see my previous reply Feb 18th, to your post of Feb 17th. mikedella43@yahoo.com

Merdy mentioned she hears from you, but has lost contact recently. I'm thrilled to get your post. :-)
