Young J Swallows

Just discovered another child of Young J Swallows and Patsy Stewart. George Swallows was born Mar 23, 1863 in Gibson County IN. He was conficted of grand larceny and sentenced to City of Refuge in Plainfield, Hendricks Cty, IN. He arrived at City of Refuge on Dec 30, 1875. I have not been able to find out how or why he died, but he died just days after arriving there on Jan 3, 1876. He was buried on the grounds of the school and I hope to visit it very soon.

Hello! I'm a descendent of John Swallow, a/the son of Thomas and Hannah. My research has John *marrying* a Charlotte Lynds (1832-1884), though it is possible he also had a sister named Charlotte. I am very interested in the Swallow history you mention -- is it published anywhere? If so, if you can provide details like author name, publisher, year, etc. I might be able to track it down. Dear Rod,
Would you believe it that I have actually come onto the message board five years after you posted your enquiry? It was quite by accident after googling my own name. However I am the Derek Swallow with whom you are trying to contact. You were quite correct I did live in Dobcross for nearly thirty years and am the son of Eric Swallow and Susannah (Annie) Swallow nee Duerden. I have very little knowledge of my Great grandmother's side of the family, although I am aware of Eli Kenyon who apparently died before I was born. I was also aware of Hilda Kenyon and her daughter Elizabeth who were still around the mellor or Blackburn area.

I have mention in a will dated 1688 of a Robert Swallow of Bayfield Norfolk.
Bayfield was also known as Glandford with Bayfield and is not far from Morston Norfolk.
The will is of a Richard Wiggett and Robert Swallow is an executor of the will.
He is described as my loving friend Mr Robert Swallow.

I recently purchased a bunch of old paper items. One of the items is a death notice of Caroline Swallow. The items reads:

"Philadelphia, July 1, 1896,

Mrs. Caroline Swallow died suddenly Tuesday at 7 oclock p.m. Funeral services will be held from the house of her daughter Ella Kacey #5532 Ludlow St W.P. on Friday the 3rd day of July at 1 oclock p.m.

Are you related to this Swallow(s) line? Felix Swallow is the brother to my Jacob Swallows. Yes, my line kept the "s" where others didn't. It is believed this Swallow(s) line descends from Andrew Swallows found in Overton County TN and can be traced back to PA.

Looking for UK relatives of a Thomas Swallow 1790-1863 from Hull, England. Landed in Canada - NS around 1815. Settled in Wallace NS. I have some documentation from NS pub Archives that place him as a farm servant in 1819 with a Dotten family in North Wallace NS. In 1819 he applied for a Land grant with the province of NS.

My GGG grandfather was Thomas Swallow of Hull England. He came over to Nova Scotia in 1815 (documentation eludes to this date)His wife (canadian born - Hannah Teed) they went on to have 11 children. He lived most of his life around the Wallace/ Wentworth area of NS. His final resting place is Onslow NS. He died in 1863. I am trying to find information on his parents and siblings from England. Please advise

I don't know if you can help at all. My grgrgrandfather, John J Gill, Married Mary Shallow in Boston Massachusetts in 1885. Her parents were Edward and Mary Shallow.They were all born in Ireland, but I do not know where. She was born about 1859-60. She was 25 in 1885.

Richard Swallow, Salford area

I am trying to confirm details of my Third Great Grandfather Richard Swallow. According to his son John's Marriage Certificate (in 1851) Richard was a Joiner. The 1841 Census shows Richard Swallow 40 Joiner and John Swallow. This would make Richard's dob as 1801. IGI has a marriage to Jane Burchall in Feb 1813. If 1801 was correct this marriage would be at the age of 12!. I also have a death certificate for a Richard Swallow Jan 1848 a Joiner age 62. This would give a dob as 1786. More realistic for the marriage.
Does anyone have any details of Richard, John or any of their family.

Help with Swallows of Huddersfield

Dear All,

I am looking for a man called Hincliffe Swallow he was born abt 1848 in Huddersfield.

There is no record of him in the census before 1881! Struggling to find his marriage to Jane so no maiden name! he then disappears with no death!

Does any have a hincliffe in their family or have any idea. Searched LDS but no joy!
