Sweezy in Northumberland Co., New Brunswick, Canada

Records of the New Brunswick Court of Quarter Sessions show that Mary (Elizabeth?) SWEEZY married Matthew OXFORD on 9 July 1808. Some family papers state: "She was a sister of Ben SWEEZY, "Uncle Ben", who lived 8 or 10 miles from the ocean on the coast, at the opening of the river. Considered a wealthy farmer."

Possible relationship to Hason Sweezey who located on South West Branch, Miramichi River in May 1785 with 3 in his family.

Also in 1851, the head of the Sweezeys in Glenelg Parish was Reuben Sweezey, age 65, wife Ann, age 58; and children: Benjamin 32, George 23, Robert 15. "Uncle Ben" may be Reuben, a name which was then first shows up in the Oxford family.

Has anyone else worked on this Sweezy line? Would appreciate any help getting my nose pointed in the right direction here, and I'm always glad to share.

Susan
100761.403@compuserve.com

What I have on my Sarah Sweezy is she was born 1853, NY, died 1917 in Warsaw,Mo, by her death certificate. But by her marriage record she would hvae been born in 1851. She married John Milton Dawson in 1870 in Michigan. He was susposed to have been born in Ohio, can't find him in Ohio. His dad might be George. John died in 1885 in Warsaw, Mo. Sarah's dad might be Henry Sweezy. There are so many different stories in the family that it is very hard to locate the right one.I have 2 different marriage licenses. One is a copy of marriage record that says she was born in Hamilton, Canada, the other is one that my cousin sent off for that is a Certificate of Marriage that says that she was born in New York, no town. On both she was 19, which would have made her born @ 1851. What do you have on your Sarah Sweezy? Thank You. Patricia

SWEEZY NAME: SC

Hi!

My name is Mark Sweezy. I live in upstate SC. Just under the Blue Ridge Mountains. I am one of seven sons. My father's name is George Sweezy. His father was Calvin Sweezy, all from Easley, SC. I live in Liberty, SC, about six or seven miles away. Concerning the Sweezy name, I have been mailed a letter from someone, can't remember who, telling me to come to a reunion. If my memory serves me right, next to Hendersonville, NC. where there is suppose to be a place called Sweezy mountain. There are suppose to be a lot of old graveyards where some of the first settling Sweezys lived. Outa here,

Sweezy

His father was married to someone in or around cleveland, we think there were children. His fathers name was Lawrence. His great granfather was Wesley Monroe Sweezy who married Mary McCauley. We have been told that the name was changed by Wesley from Swesey, but cannot verify. Any help would be appreciated.
