Robert Swinn was married four times, his fourth wife was Ann Hill. Their first child was Samuel b abt 1840 and he married Mary Rhoades in 1871. Their second son was George who emigrated to NZ in 1892.
Robert's third wife was Ellen (maiden name not known), married 1828 in Anderby. They had four children of which Benjamin, b abt 1834, was the third. Benjamin married Emily Mary Ann Tutty in 1859.

I'm from Lincolnshire and have recently (in the last year) started looking into the family tree. During a recent remains finding trip to the Louth area I believe I've found George's grave, in Anderby. It stated that he'd been in NZ for 30 years before returning home to die. I believe one of my ancestors, Benjamin Swinn, was also the son of Robert Swinn but by a previous wife, Ellen. Ann Swinn's grave is also in Anderby and I believe her maiden name was Hill.
I haven't yet managed to get any further back than Robert and would be interested in any exchange of family information.

W Swinn - London, Wis - Painter

I am looking for any information on a painter, W SWINN from London, Wis. I am guessing the painting I have was done between 1888 - 1935.

The painting is of a covered bridge near Cambridgeboro, VT. I note that London, Wis is very near CAMBRIDGE, WIS. I am wondering if there is any connection between Cambridge, VT and Cambridge, WI.

Looking for relatives of Robert Swinn DOB 1783 from Huttoft, married Anne ? and lived in Anderby. My great-grandfather was Robert's grandson George Swinn who emigrated to New Zealand in 1892.

I am from New Zealand (living in Australia). My great-grandfather emigrated to NZ in 1892, George Swinn. His parents were Robert and Anne (don't know her maiden name). He was born in Huttoft and married in Anderby.
I am very interested to find relatives in England.
Our name used to be Swine, it was changed in 1676.

Most of the Swinn in America are of German descent. Try Lutheran church records or early census records in the city of birth if you know it.

Did you know Nancy died in 1961? Are you a relative of Ron Swinn's? Just wondered your interest in the Swinn name as I have a huge database on them. I didn't have Nancy down as married if she was the Nancy born 1895.

I had 2 replies rejected to your address, trying this way.
My late MIL was a decendent of James Large and Annie Cockerell married in Bridlington. [they both had siblings]. After her death I found a letter from Nancy Swinn, address, Creamery Cottage, Hunmanby nr. Filey. It appears her husband was Bob and had two daughters, Carole and Christene , ages were 12 and 15. The letter probably was written around 1940's. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Carolyn.

My wife is Barbara Ailean Rudderham, formerly Swinn. She is the eldest of five children born to Aileen and Bernard Swinn. All children were born in the Tattershall/Coningsby area of Lincolnshire. Bernard is still alive aged 79 although Aileen died in 1986. Bernard has a sister Doris and a deceased brother Herbert. Ther parents were Arthur and Ellen nee Brooks

I think I may have found your Emma. If so she was in fact Alice Emma born 1893 and registered in the NOttingham Reg. Dist. the GRO index is 7b 296 MQ. You can order the birth certificate. If this proves to be your Emma I have more information for you.

Some of my mother's cousins lived in Nottingham. Give me a day or so and I will try and find which family Emma belonged to. There were Swinn's in Doncaster also. As far as I know all the SWINN's lead back to North East Lincolnshire. If we can get you back there I can help you out a lot.
