John Swords was my ggg grandfather, my grandfather was John B swords from Union County, New Albany, Mississippi. My grandfather was John Benjamin Swords (2/22/1862) grandmother was Meaddie Emily V Hall Swords, who's name is never right on census records, she was his second wife. I am interested in any information, have completed most of their families. I live in Tupelo and would like to find Jonathan Gullet burial place. I remember our families (Syble Swords(Mother) and Uncle Bennie Swords going to cemetary looking for someones grave when I was a small child. Do remember they didn't find it.

George,
I was responding to Kevin who had a Denny Swords residing in California. There was a Dennis Swords who left Rockford for California. I do not have much on this family except a Dennis Francis Swords who came from Queens County, Ireland about 1862. He was in New York where he married. He moved to the Rockford area about 1880. He died there in 1908.

My 3x gr-grandmother was Jane Swords born about 1808 in Ireland, though one census record lists her as being born 'For. mid-ocean'... not sure if I'm reading the handwriting correctly. Jane married John Hegan, also born in Ireland, and I believe that they first immigrated to New Brunswick, Canada and then to Boston / Roxbury, Massachusetts. They had at least 6 children. Would love to hear from anyone familiar with this family.

Aaron Swords is my Gr-Gr-Grandfather.
His 1st wife Susannah (Carr) is my Gr-Gr-Grandmother.
She died April 5th 1862 at age 30. Both are buried in the Houck Family Cemetery, Harrison Township, Gallia County Ohio along with son James and America Swords. The Houck Family are cousins of either Aaron or Susannah don't know which yet. Don't know yet where 2nd wife Judy is buried but she lived with James/America Swords until death Aug 22 1911... There is a Civil War James Swords from Gallia Co that may be a brother and a George Swords who died 1880 in Scottown Lawrence Co and both need to be located/researched as if connected to our family, they may be the links...
While 1870 census says Pa, I'm not sure, it could also be Russell Co Va, or Bucks County Pa area. It may take DNA??
In Any Case...If You, or Anyone Else locates Aaron Swords family of origin, finds or knows about the Civil War James Swords, please, please share.. I'm stuck there too...
Harold Irvin Sword(s) FrCoGenHistSoc Columbus,Ohio
sword13@gmail.com
Kindly contact me at gketter@cogeco.ca! It is cumbersome to communicate thru this avenue.
I have some data on the Sword family from my mother's side.
I know they immigrated from Ireland in the 1800s and I will be researching their arrival in the near future. Right now I am caught up in a move to Fonthill from Burlington, Ontario so I haven't had much time to delve into records. My uncles (3 still are alive) have filled in some blanks but I will be getting (hopefully) om my gr-grandparents who came from Ireland.
I will elaborate more fully thru my regular e-mail address.
I would appreciate all responses to my search be directed to gketter@cogeco.ca

Thanks.

George

I do know one of the brothers was Thomas Swords...My Grandmother lived in Fall River, MA when my mother was born, however I only know the Swords family we are from came down from Ireland in the 1800's...as most, however I know with having so many Great Uncles and Aunts, I have no idea where they may have branched...

Hi, just saw your post, I am really interested in the Swords family name.My Grandmothers maiden name was Swords, she had, I believe 9 brothers and sisters, I know there is an Emma, and a Thomas..unfortunately we don't have much to go on. I know the family came from Ireland in the 1800's as well. I know you posted this quite awhile back, however, I'm also interested in hearing from anyone in the Swords family...The Swords family we are from, were scattered across the East Coast, although I heard there are many family members throughout the South as well...I'm here in California, but my Grandparents and parents are from the East, Ma , Fall River area...

Swords from York, PA - Charles and Malinda

I am a descendant of Millard Swords (1894-1971) and Elsie D. Flinchbaugh (1897-1989) of the York, PA area. Millard's son John Henry Swords is my grandfather.

Based on limited oral family history, I am pretty certain that Millard Swords was the son of Charles Benjamin Swords (1865-) and Malinda Elisa Herman (1864-) of the York area.

On census information I have seen Charles Benjamin Swords also listed as Charles C. Swords, but most of the information I have located online shows his name to be Charles B. Swords.

I cannot seem to find any information on Charles B. or Malinda earlier than the 1900 census.

Any help would be much appreciated!

John Swords
john.swords@mac.com
717-495-3547
Cornelius Ander Swords was one of the sons of John S. Swords and Massey King, born in SC ca. 1839-1840. He married Amelia Emily "Milly" Smith (also born in SC). They were living in Habersham, GA, in the 1860 U.S. federal census.

He served in Company H, 7th Regiment of South Carolina, and was died on 2 November 1862 at Winchester, Frederick, VA. He is buried in the Confederate Cemetery at Frederick, VA.

There is no Jasper Swords in the same family, from what I can see. However, there is a Jasper Swords in Ancestry's Civil War Soldiers database. He served with Company C, 20th Infantry Regiment South Carolina. Someone else may be able to tell you whether the two are related and in what way.

The majority of Swords in the USA, reside in Mississippi and the Southeastern US. I am always interested in hearing from other Swords, and learning more about our name and family history. I am especially interested in finding our original Irish family crest. I have some info on the first Swords in the USA, and will be glad to forward it to you. my email address is mark@swordsengineering.com.

Andrew b. in Walton Co. died, 22 Aug 1926, Atlanta.
I'm a Swords descendant of the Walton Co. Swords line.
Andrew Porter Swords would be a distant cousin, not a direct ancestor to me.
I'm from the Matilda Swords b. 1796 and her husband John W. Cason line.
Have been researching Sword, Cason, Atha, Odom, and Brooks lines of Walton County, GA for several years. My entire tree is kept on Rootsweb.com.
please keep me posted.
Best wishes, Bob Klebs
I am looking for similar information, although what I have found does indicate a lot of remarriage to sisters of deceased wives and first cousins.

I have a 3rd great-grandmother, Lydia Caroline Swords, whom I believe to be a daughter of John Swords. Lydia married a member of the Baker family (possibly John Haridam Baker) and is buried in Cherokee County, Alabama. Am interested in learning more about her ancestry.

Help my mom find a childhood friend Cynthia Sue Swords

Hello I'm trying to help my mom find a childhood friend and I thought that posting a message would be a good start. My moms name is Minnie Renton but she always went by the name Cathy. The information she gave me is that her name is Cynthia Sue Swords. Her mothers maiden name is Bostic/Bostick and they called her "Eddie". Her sisters are Kathleen "Kathy", Summer, and Melody. My mom went to school with Cynthia in Paramount, CA and the name of the school is Harry Wortz (SP). Mom also said she remembers the family being in Phoenix, AR too at some point in their lives. If anyone could help me find this family, please contact me. Thanks.

Chastity
