Christian Swoveland

I am the 4th Great Granddaughter of Anna Maria/Mary (Swoveland) Becknell. Her father is Christian Swoveland. I have found on Ancestry.com that his wife was Anna Elizabeth Fox, although I have no further info. Anna Maria was born in Adams Co, PA & died in Stark Co, OH. Christian is believed to be from Germany & died in Ohio and Anna Elizabeth both was born & died in PA. Hi, I'm looking for info about Julianne Swoveland husband Albert "Ernst" F. Kaestner who died at age 21 years before their first wedding anniversary. They had one child, a daughter Arvilla Kaestner who married Berty Jay Hershey. Can you help me with more info about Ernst Kaestner?

Robert Henry Lint married Susan Swoveland. Not sure about which susan this is because I found two who's father was Peter, as it is listed on Susan Swoveland Lint's dc. Her daughter Pauline married Albert Thomas Chaney.

Albert and Pauline are my step sister's paternal grandparents.

Have a photo of their parents. . . .don't have much on either one of them past their birth, listed in the census - he is listed as Wm, after his father, and she is listed as Weltha, after her mother in the 1910, Sturgis Co MI census.

Weltha Bowers was the second wife of William Jacob Swoveland, son of Jacob and Mary Elizabeth Stevens Swoveland. Wm Jacob is also the brother of our great grandmother, Phoebe Anna Swoveland Middaugh Hoover

I am indirectly related to the Swovelands of Van Wert County, Ohio. My ggreat Aunt would be Catherine Weagly Swoveland. She was married to Peter Swoveland. Do you know anything about her and are there any pictures of the Weaglys she may have had that were passed down. I would love to get copies if there are. Her brother David, my great great gramdfather was in the Civil War. We have pictures of him and his wife, Mary Stump. My brother has his Civil War sabre.

My greatgrandmother was Mary Elizabeth Snellenberger. One of her sisters was Manda (or Amanda) Isabell Snellenberger. Manda was born Apr. 21, 1864 and died April 11, 1904. She was married to William Swoveland. He was born Nov. 20, 1863 and died May 24, 1949.

We share the same grandparents :) I am the oldest daughter (Helena) of Roger Swoveland (probably your uncle). He is deceased & I have lost contact with Aunt Peggy so I do not know how to get in touch with any of my dads family.

I think my Dad is your Dad's younger half-brother?

The family story is that in a previous marriage, my grandmother, Anna, had three boys. 2 were adopted by a doctor in Anderson, Indiana. They were called Ronny and Buddy. My mother has a picture of them even. The other boy, Gary Swoveland, was raised by other family memebers.

I have not done any genealogy in several years. In my earlier research, I had Henry as the son of Jacob Swoveland and Mary Elizabeth Stevens. I will have to familiarize myself with my past records to see where I came up with that.

On the 1930 Custer County, Oklahoma, Federal Census is
one Henry Swoveland, age 73, alone. I think he is Henry
Swoveland, eldest son of Jacob and Elizabeth Stevens
Swoveland. The elder Swovelands lived in LaGrange County,
Indiana. In 1920 Henry was in Michigan and his mother
was living with him. His father had died in 1912. His mother
died in the late l920's. Henry was a bachelor, having lived
alone since being divorced in an early marriage.

Can anyone else prove claim to Henry? Or have any
information that might help?

My husbands great grandmother - Catherine Swoveland Lucas
of Smith Co., Kansas.

Married: William Hutson - 25 Jan 1865 in Blackfor CO., Indiana. On their marriage certificate it shows her name as Catherine Lucas.

She died around 15 Aug 1913.

In an article in the Smith County Pioneer dated August 21, 1913 it shows that her parents were Mr. & Mrs. Swoveland and that she was a sister of Mrs. Adam Lucas.

So just wondering how she is connected to the Swoveland family.

Any help or research that you might have that would tie in, I would appreciate hearing from you.

(Emil) Emual Swoveland, born March 12, 1905 in Michigan, died December 11, 1927 in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan, married to Delia Kelsey in Michigan, with one daughter, Sarah J., born March 25, 1925, in Kent County, Michigan. His mother was Minnie Bell Ringer (I have a great deal on that family because my maternal grandmother was a Ringler) and his father was Abner whose father was Jacob, both from Ohio. My dad and his brother were adopted in 1940 from Wayne County, Indiana. They were 6 and 4, Herman Lee Swoveland and Ronald Eugene Swoveland. Their birth parents were Norman and Anna Swoveland. My Dad's birthday is 4/5/34 and his brothers is 8/18/36. We would love to hear from anyone with any information.

Forest Swoveland and Family

Hello! I am a grandson of Ruby Putman and Wilbur Williams. Ruby is the sister of Myrtle Putman, who married Forest Swoveland. The family was originally from Van Wert, Ohio, but Forest and Myrtle moved up to Michigan in the early 1940's. I am looking for information regarding all of Forest and Myrtle's descendents (children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren). I have the names Peggy, Blaine, Roger, and William as possible children, probably born in the Detroit, MI area in the late 1930's and early 1940's. I also have birth and death dates as follows:
Forest: May 3, 1907 - February 13, 1980
Myrtle: August 17, 1911 - May 16, 1999

Forest's parents were Lewis Peter Swoveland and Mae L. Griswald. Myrtle's parents were Timothy S. Putman and Nellie Jane Medaugh.
