Juanitta Syre Photo

I have been cataloging my grandmother's photo album. In it is a photo of a young woman, looks to be in her early 20's. The photo was probably taken in Grand Island, Hall, Nebraska, around 1938-1940. On the back is written
Juanitta
Grand Island
Nursing in Denver, Colo.

on the front is written Juanitta Syre. There were 3 other photos that looked like they were taken at the same time and place. Ray Peterson "pete", Sadie George, Wain Scholfield.

I may have more photos of Juanitta.

Re: Francis Syre Columbia County, N.Y.

Hi Wilbur!
How exciting to make a connection! Francis Syre is my ggg grandfather. Charles Brenn was my gg grandfather. Charles was married to Magdelena Syre. When you say Francis (Frank) Syre was Francis' son does that mean Magdelena and Josephine were his sisters. By the same mother? Family lore says that Francis born 1800 was a swiss aristocrat and he brought Magdelena to the states to marry her childhood sweetheart Charles Brenn who emigrated to the states 1855? . Family lore also says Francis b.1800 would travel back and forth from europe to be sure his daughter was well taken care of. Any of this make sense?I found a map of catskill from the mid to late 1800's which has a sayre (misspelled or different family?) house which brenn's owned and lived in the early 1900's according to fed census records. Do you know anything about this? My direct e-mail is avakian.1@juno.com.

Hi Noelle,
Good to hear from someone related to the Syre family. Francis Syre born 1800 would be my gggrandfather. My Grandmother Annie Christine Syre was the daughter of his son Francis (aka Frank) Syre. How are you connected to the Syre line. My 2nd cousin Doris Syre was the last family member to my knowledge to have the surname Syre. I have a little info on Charles Brenn. Originally I am from Mass. near the Columbia County line and now live in Florida.

Sincerely,
Wilbur
