She still has his wallet that he had that night and was almost in the car herself on the way home from a dance. Wow.

It's funny because My grandmother was Mrs. William Tacy. However, she was born in 1914 so it obviously can't be her. They lived in Champlain, NY back then but my grandmother was from Quebec. I'll try to ask one of my older relatives to see if it is a possible relation.

This is wonderful information. I am Israel Tacy's great granddaughter. He is buried in St. patrick's cemetary in Chateauguay, NY with his second wife Delia Jeffway his son William Tacy Sr. (my grandfather), grandson William Tacy Jr. (My uncle), grandson Lester Tacy killed in a car accident in Ellenburg in 1957 or 1959 (my uncle), I think another daughter Mabel Tacy is there (My grandfather's sister who died young, I believe from an infection contracted during nursing), I believe another daughter Etta (another sister of my grandfather). My grandmother Emma Haney Tacy is also buried there. I remember wlaking around the cemetary and seeing Celia Sancomb also (Israel Tacy's first wife).

Re: Tacy's in Chateaugay, NY.

My name is Michele King. My Mother is Eleanor Tacy King. Her parents were William Tacy (son of Israel Tacy and Delia Jeffway) and Emma Georgina Haney Tacy. This is the family you are inquiring about. I may be able to help whoever is interested. William Tacy is my grandfather and is buried in Chateauguay with Emma Haney Tacy his wife and 2 sons Lester Tacy killed in a car accident in Ellenburg (I think in 1957) and william Tacy Jr. who died in or around 1990. They were my uncles. I also remember seeing the grave of Ms. Sancomb in the cemetary - Israel Tacy's first wife. I do have some census records in storage listing Israel Tacy along with his children (my grandfather and siblings) form late 1800's/ early 1900's. My grandfather William was born in NY and the family spoke French. My grandmother Emma Haney Tacy was born in Hemmingford, Quebec to Amelia Favreau Haney and I think Joseph Haney. My grandmother Emma died in June 2001. She had a sister Margaret Haney Trippany, a sister Aldea (can't think of last name), a brother Joe Haney ( who is still alive in Malone NY but not doing so well- he is 98), and another brother Willie in Quebec. Amelia Favreau remarried Mr. Ezrow when Joe Haney passed away when my grandmother Emma was a child. There are still relatives in Plattsburgh NY. My e-mail is shellshock.1972@yahoo.com if anyone is interested.

Did you ever have any luck tracing your Tacy family in Ireland?

I am also looking and don't really have anything to go on. I know that a Marguerite Tacey/Tacy married a man named William Wade. I know they were both from Ireland and I'm assuming they married there, then moved to Canada, and ended up in Quebec. 1851 Canada census lists Marguerite's last name as Tassy and her age as 45.

If you were able to come up with anything I'd be interested to know.

Hello George, How are you? I am excited to find the board and all of the different responses. Randolph Bernard Tacy was my gggg grandfather. His son William Jackson Tacy had a son, John Morgan Tacy, who had a daughter Della Mae Tacy who was my great grandmother. I see where you have mentioned a Tacy website that has photos and such. I would love to visit the site, do you think I could be added to the list? Take care,
Jewell
