My name is Susie Hernandez but my maidain name is talamantes. My grandfather name was Gabriel Talamantes from Las Cruces New Mexico. My Grandmas Name was Conchita.
My father name was Bernardo Talamantes and we have family in California. My fathers brother is Felix Talamantes. I know that somehow we are all related because the name is rare. I think it comes from the Greek. I heard from someone that there were three brothers from Greece and seperated around the world. Maybe thats where we come from.

I am searching for descendants of Jose Dolores Talamantes of Guadalupe Co., TX. Jose was born about 1858/1860, possibly in Chihuahua, Mexico. I found a christening for a Jose Dolores Talamantes in Chihuahua for 1860 being the son of Paz Talamantes and Magdalena Molina, but not sure if this is the same individual. Jose married Esteffani Gomez and had issue Jesus, Santiago, Pedro, Jose, Temotel & Mary. Thanks!

Im not sure of my grandmothes brothers names. My grangmother fled from La Paz and I dont know why. she never talked alot about her family and it kinda sucks. My uncle (her son) is my only source. I will talk with him and ask him for names and locations. My grandmother did say she was one of or the youngest of i think 10 brothers and sisters (mainly brothers). I will research more info and get back with you. The Talamantes name WAS pasted down thru her father from La Paz. I will have to make some calls...i will get back with you...do you have any older relatives that remeber Lupita Talamantes? I have a picture of her then...thanks for the help

We may have a link here Rene. Jose Regino Talamantes Chacon was baptized 8 Oct 1871 in Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua.

My research indicates that Juan Talamantes (c. aprox. 1810) and Quilina Saenz married and procreated Sabas Talamantes between 1839-1840. Sabas is listed as the "drummer boy" in one of the platoons residing at the Presidio de Janos (Presidio Census) in 1852. Sabas married Pilar Chacon, daughter of Hermenegilda Parra and Eduardo Chacon, on 25 Apr 1863 at the church of San Antonio de Padua in Casas Grandes. Sabas and Pilar had a least 5 sons:

Porfirio (?)
Lucio Alvino de Jesus (1868)
Jose Regino de Jesus (1871)
Jose Juan D. de Jesus (1874)
Jose Sabas (1879)

By 1874, Hermenegilda had married Maximo Miranda, and, for reasons that remain unclear to me, Pilar changed her name to Pilar Miranda. Thus, Jose Juan D. de Jesus and the younger brothers and sisters were named Talamantes Miranda, although their real blood is Talamantes Chacon.

My great grandfather is Jose Juan D. de Jesus. He and Porfirio were both Lt. Colonels with Pancho Villa in the Division del Norte. Porfirio was appointed to such position by Pancho Villa himself and died in the Batalla de Tierra Blanca on November 23, 1913. Juan was appointed to such position by Tomas Ornelas, whose ancestors had also been part of the Presidio de Janos for many years. Juan survived the revolution but was forced to leave Mexico when Pancho Villa was assasinated. He then took up residence in Douglas, AZ for a while but eventually returned to Chihuahua where he died.

Juan married Rita Marrufo and procreated Sabas, my grandfather. Sabas married Maria Salas Varela and procreated my father Juan. So you see, I have a few generations of alternating names (Juan-Sabas-Juan-Sabas-Juan-Adrian) but my father broke the tradition.

If your Brigido is our Regino, we are related. I'll be glad to discuss this with you. Just send me an e-mail to mocoleto@yahoo.com.

Regards,

Adrian

I am pretty sure my line of Talamantes'/z were originally from Chihuahua as well....then moved to Arizona - Brigido Talamantes & Maria Araiza-Talamantes Maria Araiza-Talamantes' father was Donaciano Araiza and her mother was Manuela Braun-Araiza. BRIGIDO TALAMANTES father was Sabas Talamantes and his mother was Pilar Milada-Talamantes. I have not been able to find them before 1920 in any US Census however.

Those names are familiar but they are mixed. In my family Sabas Talamantes married Pilar Chacon. Sabas' parents were Juan Talamantes and Quilina Saenz who, up to now, I believe were born in Spain. Juan and Sabas were both soldiers for Spain at the Presidio de Janos in Chihuahua. Juan was born approximately in 1820 and Sabas around 1840.

I am the Great Great Great Granddaughter of Lewis Felipe Talamantes, Spanish landgrant owner of Rancho la Ballona
that was located in the Culver City, Palms, Marina del Rey Playa del Rey and to Pico Blvd. in Santa Monica. CA to
the ocean.

He was given 13,920 ac. along with his son Tomas and brothers,Ygnacio and Augustin Machado, in 1839. They
were the original European settlers of the area. Both families built adobes there. The Machado Adobe was at Jefferson Bl. and Overland, the first adobe washing away in a La Ballona Creek flood.

The Felipe Talamantes Adobe was located on Braddock Dr and Inglewood Bl. in Culver City, where all of my ancestors were born. My great great grandma Quadalupe, her daughter Tomasa, and my Grandpa Juan D. Farias and his 11 children were all born there.

Juan married Felipe F. Yorba, from another landgrant owner family of Orange Co. CA. They married there and came to Rancho La Ballona after the wedding on the train, where a big Wedding Fiesta celebration lasted for four days.

The Machado family and Farias Family were very close friends. Even to today. I just attended the Machado Reunion, held every first week of Oct. At El Segundo, CA

If anyone is familiar with these families please contact me,
< evabooher@aol.com family >
