My maiden name is Tampa. Do you know if Tampa was the name he was born with - or was it changed when he moved to the United States?
My Grandfather came from Europe in the late 1800's to early 1900's - my Father told me our name was originally Tompa - that the name was changed when my Grandfather - as well as his family moved here from Europe.
I have really just begun researching my family tree. But the name change I do know for sure.

Looking for relatives of the late George McNeill of Stuarts Place Cowdenbeath Fife Scotland. A brother who was a Merchant Tailor emigrated to Tampa Florida many years ago. My father in law is the son of the late George mcNeill.

I am looking for any information on the Daniel Tampa born in Austria about 1820 and came to the USA in the 1840's. He married Barbara Ferber - born in Germany - they had five daughters and lived in Scranton Pa. Daniel died in 1883 any information would be appreciated.
