There were 5 Children born to Henry & Ann Tanner in Cranley Sussex, Namely Millicent 1786,Henry 1787, James 1789, Sarah 1791 & George1794. I am seeking to make contact with any of their decendants.

Also a John Henry Tanner was born in Horsham Sussex in 1805 to Parents Henry Tanner and Martha Denyer. John Henry Tanner migrated to Australia.

I am seeking information as to whether Henry Tanner b. 1787 in Cranley is the same Henry Tanner who married Martha Denyer in Horsham. Cranley & Horsham are adjacent villages in Sussex UK

I am also seeking anyone with information about John Henry Tanner who migrated to Australia

Thank you for your reply. No, I am not sure about the birth date. The date could have been confused with someone else's records. It was likely before 1976 since this was the year his wife was said to be born.

Tanner family in Florida or Alabama

I’m hitting dead-ends on information about my gg-grandparents on either side of my great-grandparents. My great-grandfather was Richard Tanner (b. about 1887 in AL). He was married to Gensie (or Ginsey) Tanner (maiden name unknown) born about 1859 in AL. Their daughter was Claudia Sims Tanner (b. 1885, d. 1960 in Ocala FL) married to William (Willie) E. Reynolds (b.1881 in Eulfaula AL, d.1925 in Kynesville FL). My mother was Doris Reynolds Guthrie (b. 1914 in Kynesville FL, d. 1975 in Atlanta GA). Any help at all on my gg-grandparents would be very much appreciated.

I am having a very hard time finding any information on my husband's family starting with his grandfather, Ernest C. Tanner (b: 4 Jan 1929) and his great-grandparents, Ernest and Antoinette Tanner. I have no real information available on them except that Antoinette was from France. I have no dates of birth for the great-grandparents or where any of them were born. I don't even know if there were siblings. If anyone has any information they think might pertain to the family, please contact me. Thank you for your help!

Does anybody have any connections or information relating to Alfred Tanner, born in November 1881 at Walton-on-Thames in Surrey, son of John Tanner and Ellen Tanner (formerly Ellen Page).
I have a copy of his Birth Certificate, and there is no middle name or initial given.
He is not to be confused with Alfred George Tanner, also born in 1881 and worked on the railways.

I can find Alfred Tanner with his family in the 1891 Census, but I cannot be 100% certain that I can find him after that. I can't find him marrying; I can't find him dying; I can't find him in the Census for 1901 or 1911.
I can find a few other 'Alfred Tanners' but there is always one other piece of info which does not match-up, which causes me to ignore it.

Does anybody else have this person in the family-tree, or have any information about him.

Have found our Tanners post 1800, now looking for Boyle Tanner born about 1782 married to Elizabeth Kearns in 1806. Boyles father was Jonathan TANNER and his mother was Jane JAGOE. And what appears to be a possible line of Jonathan Tanners in This area known as Bandon. I found references to what I think is this line in some Parish Records, can anyone on the other side of Two ponds help out. I live in Hawaii and research from this side of the second pond is sooo very difficult, even with internet!

Other help:
#2 Abraham Tanner who married Sarah Rosson was the son of John Tanner and Jane Collins. (John, son of Abraham Tanner and Elizabeth Huffman - Abraham was son of Christopher Tanner and Elizabeth Aylor)

#5. Christopher Tanner who married Elizabeth Aylor is the son of Robert Tanner (debate on this Robert Tanner) and is the progenitor of all the Germanna Tanners.

#6. Frederick Tanner who married Rosanna Huffman was the son of Jacob Tanner and Dorothy Zimmerman. (Jacob was son of Christopher and Elizabeth Aylor).

#10. Mary Magdalene Tanner who married Joseph Rouse was the daughter Christopher and Elizabeth Aylor.

All of these Tanners are considered part of the Germanna families and there is quite a bit on all of these families (Aylor, Zimmerman, Rouse, etc...).

I have GA Tanners and I have taken it. Not the same thing as the Y test, but interesting all the same.

I would like to find any Tanner's who have had DNA tests. I am an only child, and all male relatives on my paternal side are deceased. I have had a maternal DNA test, but will not be able to discover my paternal DNA unless I can find a male relative who is related to me somewhere on my father's side Even if you have not had a DNA test and/or don't want to have one, I would still like to hear from you.

My Tanner ancestry includes the following: My Grandfather Walter Earnest Tanner (1898-1959) and his ancestors Joseph L Tanner (1870-1952), George King Tanner, George Michael Tanner Jr. and Sr. For quite a few generations, my line of Tanner's have lived in Georgia. My tree is public--feel free to investigate any possible connection.

William Tanner 1660-1772, wives and children conflicting dates

Can someone get the dates worked out for Williams' wives' birthdates, dates of marriage to each and dates of birth for the children of each union? I have seen such conflicting dates such as his wife Elizabeth Colgrove born 1688 and her son, John, born 1692. She would have been only 4 yrs old and they were shown to have married in 1723 - meaning that the son was born 31 years before William and Elizabeth were married! I have seen the dates for his wife, Mary Babcock as 1675-1707 and the marriage in 1690. In 1690 she would have been 15 and William would have been 30. Maybe William's dates are incorrect. Does anyone have the dates of birth for William, his wives, children and marriages correct, or at least so that they make sense? Thank you.

Hi Teresa, I've just across this message. The Moses Tanner you sre referring to was actually born in Harbridge, Hampshire and I am descended from his brother William. He was Christened on 3rd October 1790 in Harbridge, and was the younger son of John Tanner and Ann Trim, who were married on 10th April 1775 in Harbridge. You are right in saying that he later lived in Burley, Hampshire. Although John Tanner and Ann had 5 children, I believe that only Moses and my ancestor William survived to adulthood and went on to have families of their own. I hope this information is useful.

I've just done the same thing, made my trees private. I don't mind them taking info off my tree that I know is common to many possible trees, but when it comes to fairly recent history (the last 200 years or so), unless they are related, and I know and/or find out that they are, then those taking the info have either not done their research and/or are just fishing for what looks good. Surely they would realise that by having a cursory look at the info that's provided that the stuff they're taking doesn't belong with their tree/s, so why take it in the first place. They can't be that thick!!!.

If they are related, then why not get in contact and make things a whole lot better for the two parties.
I totally agree with you. I never ever mind sharing my information, photos or birth marriage and death certificates which I have paid for, as long as the others share back, but I am afraid that many do not. When I try to contact them in the hope that there may be a connection, and they can possibly help me out they don't reply. They take what they like the look of and in many cases it has nothing to do with them.
This is the reason why I made my trees private.

Copying Pictures and Source Information

Just a little peeve I have that I want to bring to light with people copying pictures and sources from others without appearing to have done their homework beforehand. I am all for people copying stuff from others if that information and such is relevant to their own research and they take the time to contact one another about it. However, where I draw a line in the sand is when people just take stuff assuming it's got something to do with them without (it appears) having done anything to verify that it has. It just looks good and seems to fit in, so they take it. Makes it especially annoying when they have little or no ID in their profiles to be able to figure out who and where they are from.

Please, do your homework and get your facts right before you go copying others pictures and information and if you have done so and find out you've made a mistake, make the effort to remove that info from your tree, as a courtesy to those that did the research in the first place and own the material. However to be on the safe side, it wouldn't hurt to ask the person you're copying the stuff from if it's OK to do so, especially since then, they can figure out with you if it is relevant to your tree.

And another thing, something that applies especially to Mormons who want to perform the "sealing" ceremony and such to people they find. Be very careful as there are others who maybe related to those you find who will not abide by anything of such a nature being done to their relatives. You have a good chance of finding yourselves in court and being sued over such actions, as you have no right whatsoever of performing any ritual or such actions without the consent of their other relatives, Mormon or not. Please be very aware of this and use your common sense.
