HI Karen,

Not related to the newsletter but with Ancestry not allowing easy contact unless you're a paid member this is the only way I could get you. You've found a few things on my William Guest/Elenor Ardiel tree recently to copy regarding the Shoebottoms - if you're interested in sharing information I'd love to hear from you. You can contact me off board at emm_gee@Hotmail.com

Thx, Mike

I believe he was related to a George Moffett who was a prominent politician in Canada who was also born in England. I checked with the Moffatt family website but they have no information on a Moffat married to a Teasdale.
Thanks for any info
Kathy in Pa

I know this is a long shot, I hope you are still here. I am descended from William and would love to get a copy of the will, either from you or get the sourcing information to find it myself. I have his son john's will but have never seen the will or a transcript of William's. I am making an assumption that your William is my William, twin of John, both born in 1692 in Maryland. The names of his children match what you posted. I Really hope you get this.

Hi, are you still around and interested in this? I think we may have a match - my great-grandfather was Robert Whigham Teasdale, who married Winifred Harding in India, and had three daughters (Joyce, Enid, Joan), one of whom was my grandmother - all the daughters grew up and married in North-West India and there was a definite connection with the North-West Railways - Winifred's second husband, Jack Johnson, was Anglo-Indian and was an inspector on the North-West railways. Winifred was born 1887, her Father and mother and two older siblings all died of cholera or plague (?) in Poona in 1896 and she was brought up by aunts. We've only just started looking but haven't been able to find much on Whigham Teasdales - any info you have gratefully received. This is my father-in-law's account but a message back will reach me.

To anyone who is interested. I have 2 watercolors by John Teasdale that were painted for my grandmother, Margaret Elizabeth Carnabey Forster, for a wedding present when she married my grandfather, James McLaurin Shipley. I am very interested in their worth, what, if any, relationship he may have had to the family, and the full name of the solicitor he was associated with, J.A.C. Shipley. I am thinking that since these paintings were gifts, they may not be known to those who are interested in his works. Both are dated and signed, 1914. Any information will be most welcomed!

Margaret R. Shipley Hudson "Margie"

Just browsing through the site and came across your post. I know it's some time ago since you posted this but you may be interested in my connection. My link with Gibson Teasdale is through his brother John. John Teasdale was born in 1815 in Cockfield and he was baptised together with Gibson on 3 Sep 1815 at Cockfield. It's possible they were twins. John married Sarah Ann Blackett 15 Nov 1834at St James Church, Hamsterly Parish and they had 9 children, the youngest being Thomas, b 1856 in North Bedburn, my great, great grandfather. The 1851 census listed the family as living in Woodland. John died in 1856,his death was regisered in December,Thomas's birth was registered in September. The 1861 census lists Sarah as a widow and head of the household living at Trough Lane Foot, Copley. She married Robert Suddick (Suddock)later the same year. The 1871 census shows a stepson Thomas living in the Suddick household.
Thomas married Dinah Walton in 1876 and they had 5 children. The youngest child, JOseph Henry born 1891 is my grandfather. I have a photograph of Thomas and his family if you are interested.

Hope this is useful and look forward to any further info or links.

Hi Rachel Thanks for your help...Only I have information about George Teasdale. He married Nancy Stewart Oct 15 1827 in York, Ontario,Canada (York is today known as Toronto). He was a successful farmer with 250 acres. George and Nancy had 6 children all born in Ontario. He died September 24 1856 in
Lake Michigan after the ship sank during the storm. I have the picture of his tombstone and the information about how he died. There is no death record in Ancestry's Ontario death records because 1856 is not in. I know that Ottawa (capital of canada has an archive library.

In my mind, I still have two IGI George Teasdale (Buckinghamshire and Westmorland) records in my file. I still suspect that the county of Westmorland is where George came from. But I do not have an accurate connection. Ancestry does not have information about George's immigration record.

Regards Stephen from Vancouvr, BC, Canada

Hi Stephen,
Have you checked emigration records in GB and immigration records in Canada, these I have read can be found within the Colonial Office records. This may give details of what his occupation was (if he had a profession you may be able to work from that), if he was married at the time of emigration. If he married after arriving in Canada, does the marriage certificate/record give any hint of his origins in England?
Some records from Familysearch website for a George Teasdale (variant spellings) born around 1788:
33. GEORGE TEASDALE - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Christening: 24 JUN 1787 Kendal, Westmorland, England
34. GEORGE TEESDALE - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Christening: 21 JUN 1788 Hedgerley, Buckingham, England
35. GEORGE THOMAS TISDALL - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 25 MAR 1789

Another question is when did he die? this may give an indication of if he was born pre-1800.

My Teasdale's start from James Teasdale b 1801 Bromley Kent, I have not been able to trace further back than that. A trip to Kent would be order to solve the mystery of earlier ancestors.
hope this helps.
regards
Rachel

I am searching for information on Christopher and Rose Teasdale. Am most interested in their births and marriage dates and places as well as their ancestry. This couple would have had a son named John in March of 1920 - I believe in Newcastle, but I have other clues that they may have been in York at some time. John married my aunt in 1943 and it is actually his ancestry I am researching. Any data would be greatly appreciated.

I have been doing this for the first time and think we too are distant relations because of the Alston Teasdales. John and Phyllis were my gggg grandparents. Their son John (wife Eleanor) had a son Thomas W (wife Mary J)who gave birth to John George in 1894 - the reason I started this search. John George was in the DLI and wrote a letter when fighting in Ypres in 1915. This letter is now in DLI museum I think. My grandfather and his siblings ended up in Darlington.

It's all quite surreal but interesting. Just wish there were some photos
