Thomas Tedder d.1800 Cumberland, NC

I am looking for information about Thomas Tedder who died, leaving a will dated 1800 in Cumberland Cnty NC. He doesn’t name his wife or children, but it seems that some of the children were young. “ I lend unto my wife all my estate to raise the children upon, and for her to have the use of it during her natural life, and after her death what is left after raising the small children - to be equally divided among all my children.” The will is witnessed by ____ Folsome and James Clark. In 1851, the will of James Clark’s brother David Clark of Houston Cnty GA was witnessed by Z. Tedder. Most likely this is Zackariah Tedder who is enumerated on the 1850 census for Houston Cnty. He is 50 years old, born in NC and living in the same district as David Clark. I am wondering if this is just a coincidence or if these two families have a more significant connection.

from Florida Jacksonville Journal obit of Fri. 3 Nov 1925:
Live Oak, Nov 2.- One of the largest funeral gatherings ever seen in this city followed Mr Warren R Tedder,20, to his last resting place. Mr Tedder was a young man, but had won himself as many warm friends as any man could desire under similar conditions.
He died in Bellbuckle, TN, Sunday night, where he attended school. He was considered one of the brightest young men of the institution, and the flowers which the school sent with the body, were considered the most beautiful ever seen in Live Oak.
The funeral was from the Methodist Church, of which Mr Tedder was a member. The entire family, consiting of the father, mother, two sisters and three brothers, was present, with the exception of one brother, who could not reach the city in time.
The Suwanee Rifles, of which Mr Tedder was a member, and also the local order of the Macabees, to which he belonged took part in the burail service.

Do a search for Tedders in Gloucester VA; tudors in Gloucester; and tittertons in Gloucester. Thomas's son Edward and William listed and Thomases's wife, Mary. Lots of info listed on internet. Don't have a way to know when family went to Surry. Look at theinformation I have listed on Tedder Family Genealogy Forum.

I keep losing my note, try again. I am sorry that I have been out of touch for so long. My compuater crashed 3 times and took a lot of time to restore files. Now back to genealogy. It is good that we have you and Robert with high maatchs that convince me we share John Tudor, father of John 2 and Benjamin Tudor Rose. I have seen the Bonafacio list with Thomas Tedder 19 to Barbados. What is the evidnce of his arrival in Gloucester. Where can I find that and when the family moved to Surry/Isle of Wight? I will be in Southern VA following a family trip tao D.C. next month. Where should I go and who should I talk to?

I don't think Thomas Tedder is in my line, I just ran across that info while researching mine. I've been trying to trace Peaty Aycock, whose maiden name is listed as Davis on one document, and whose mother is listed as Martha Godwin on her marriage certificate. Can't find any info on Peaty's parents or her death. I had a cousin, Steven Tedder b.1866 that might connect to your ancestors, but it has been quite some time since I have worked on this and frankly, have forgotten some of it. Any info on Peaty would be most appreciated.

Hi George, this is completely unrelated to Stephen Tedder. I apologize in advance for hijacking the thread.

I see that we are Blankenship cousins. Isham Blankenship is my 5th Great Grandfather. I noticed that you have a marriage date for Margaret Jane Raines/Rains and Joseph L/Lafate Blankenship. I don't have this marriage information or information in Joseph's middle name. Could you please tell me if this is first hand knowledge or if you have documentation. If you have documentation would you be willing to share?

Sorry again for hijacking the thread, but very little is known about the family because my Grandfather was an orphan. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I was at Elmwood School in Hackbridge Mitcham Surrey from 1955 to 1959 with Dennis Tedder. He would be about 68 years old now.

Do you know him ? He had an elder brother David and a sister Sheila.

It would be good to contact Dennis.

Regards

Robert

My Grandfather's name was Oscar Tedder - I have recently come into possession of his family album. Since I never met any of his people, I dont know who any of these people are. From some correspondence in the album, I believe his mother's name may have been Amanda. Would love to trade photos and information with anyone in the family. This photo album is a real treasure trove. Hope to hear from you soon.

I got on FamilySearch.org and came up with information on him. If you log on and don't have an account, you won't get much. However, if you set up an account, you get a lot more information. Having an account is FREE.

Try copying this to your address bar and open.

https://www.familysearch.org/s/search/index/record-search-ad...

Hope this helps. Stephen was my G-grand-father on my mothers side. I have found some first cousins and have made inquries to them but none will answer. I'm not looking for anything but my roots. Thanks again.
