Teddy on USS Arizona

I have been doing some research into my brother-in-law's family tree. His grandmother on his father's side was a Teddy and one of the stories he says he's been hearing for years is that one of her brothers was one of the crew members on the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor. So far, I haven't been able to find information on ANY Teddys serving in the military during that particular time frame. I was hoping that someone might be able to give me some tips. I will also gladly give up any information that I have.

Hi,
Hope you are still looking for the surname Teddy as that is my surname and I also am having trouble getting info. My father was born in Canada. I know his father had a brother who moved to the USA. According to my grandfathers obituary. He died in 1926. I also have the 1911 census from Canada of my Dad's family. The family appears to be decendents of Austria or that area as my Dad spoke croation. If you think this may be the line you are looking for please let me know.

Sorry, I only have Gwendolin.
FYI - A lot of the Teddy's moved to Genesee County, Mich to work in the auto factories after the big mine strike in Calumet. Luckily, the Genesee County Clerks Office has a great web site for their vital records. You can search birth, marriage and death records from 1850 to present and you can order marr and death certificates for $12 each. I don't have the address handy but if you google "Genesee County Clerk's Office" you'll find it.
Greg

Sorry.
And I only have that her father was William and her mother was something like Tilda...don't know if that is first or last name.

I have that George Nurse and Rachel had 5 children. Got that from Rootsweb and 1930 Missoula MT census. One was Gwendolyn Lucille and another was George Robin. Do you have the names of the other 3 children?

Carol

Hello Jenni,
I haven't spent much time on my Teddy line so forgive my lack of detail. What I gave came from the 1880 census. It appears that William and Elizabeth Teddy had more children after this.

There was a terrible mine strike in Calumet, Mich. in 1913 and many people moved away. There were many copper and silver mines going strong out west.

I don't know when William died but I believe that Elizabeth moved to Butte Montana with a daughter and son in law.
Hope this helps.
Late for work, will write more later, Greg

Got tired of the pop-up adds on AOL.

I have no new info to share, but I still think that we are related.

Keep checking back and hopefully we will find a link or connection soon. Teddy is a fairly uncommon surname so I feel confident that we will find something. Jenni (Teddy)Winkler

My mother's maiden name was Teddy. Her dad was Morse Teddy, mother Pearl Obenour Teddy. It is believed they were married in Chicago around1928. Pearl was from Huntington, Indiana. Morse was said to be from England-although unsure about this fact. He ended up in Omaha working as a linotype operator for the Omaha Bee Newspaper. I know this is a long shot, but, hopefully I can find a connection somewhere.
