Their children were Mathilda Teixeira b. abt 1902, Georgiana Cecille Teixeira Dater/Daller B. 1904 (My grand mother) And Victor Teixeira b. abt. 1906. They also had a cousin living with them her name was Eva Ursual DeAbreu she married Andrew Washington Godchaux. I and wanting to find any info and possibly distant relitives. I am not sure where Vincent and Julia were born. But they were born about 1860's 70's. Could have been born in the Azores,Mederia,or main land Portugal or in Georgetown British Guiana. All the children and the cousin were born in Georgetown. Any and all help would be greatly apprectaied. My e mail is beverlytucker1972@yahoo.com

Researching these names:
Teixeira
D'Agrella
DeAbreu
I have been trying to find my Teixeira ancestors. My Great Grand Parents were from Georgetown British Guiana might have been born in the Azores. My Great Grand Father was Vincent Teixeira and my Great Grand Mother was Julia D'Agrella Teixeira. Their children were Matilda (Hilda), Georgiana (Georgia, Georgie) (my grand mother 1905) and Vincent. I have no info about them. My Grand Mother came to the U.S. about 1925. Victor I was told went to Canada. There was also a cousin names Eva Ursala DeAbreu Godchaux who also came to the U.S. I am looking for any info about Vincent and Julia and maybe other relitives. I want to trace my tree back. Not having any luck anywhere...

I am searching for Teixeira's from British Guiana. My Great Grand Parents were Vincent Teixeira and Julia D'Agrella Teixeira. Not sure where might have been Mederia Portugal since the Teixeira's migrated from there in the 1800's...
I sure could use some help... Back in the 1800's families all lived in the same town... All these Teixeira's in Georgetown, Demerara, British Guiana in the mid to late 1800, Most if not all had to have been related...

Hello Descendants of the Teixeira's, this is my first post on this site and will let all of you know I am just starting some intensive research on this name. I first began a search aprox. five years ago and discovered some facts on our lineage. Somewhere in the archives of the internet I remember reading something about an Admiral who was a great Sea Captain/Explorer around about the time of Great Explorations, time line possibly 1400's to 1500's. Please lets all connect the dots to our lineage. Thank You - N Teixeira.

I'm married to a Teixeira whose father is from British Guiana and family were from Madeira, Portugal. We live in Toronto, Canada and know of an Asolita who was Asolita Teixeira, and married a Gomes also from British Guiana, they live in the Toronto area. Asolita is related to my husband's father. Not sure if it's the same person.I believe Teixeiras who migrated to British Guiana from Madeira are all related. Probably brothers and cousins from one family went to British Guiana from Madeira.

My great-grandfather was Sebastiao Teixeira from Sao Filipe, Fogo. He had two sons, Augusto (my grandfather) and Romao, my great-uncle. They came to Rhode Island in the early 1900's. They had 6 sisters who resided in Cape Verde, Lisbon, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. They have all passed away. As far as I know, most Teixeira's from Fogo are related.

Teixeira is a huge family in mostly Fogo, however you'll find many that live in Brava because they worked there and just stuck around. My grandmother is Teixeira (right off the boat) from Mosteiros, and her nephew Fernando Teixeira is currently the Mayor of Mosteiros. Her brother Hugo Teixeira is one of the biggest businessmen and landowners in Brava. I'm the first generation of my family to be born in the States. Both my parents and all my other aunts and uncles were born and raised in CV and came over in the late 70s early 80s.

Thanks for replying! My father's mother was 1/2 Cape Verdean (her dad was Manuel Teixeira from Fogo.

I found his ship record and it said he came a village near Sao Felipe called Inhuco (on the western side of Fogo). It said he had a sister, Maria and I'm sure many other siblings and family. He was also VERY light and I've been told that his mother was Leopoldina from Spain (don't know for sure).

Right now, Teixeira is my only link to CV until I can find out more...still trying to research and meet people! Thankfully I'm in New England (although most CV are in eastern MA) and the internet is REALLY helpful!

One went to Hawaii, another to San Francisco, another to Boston, another to So. Africa, and his own father, Juan, to Buenos Aires. Unfortuntely, I don't know the names of my great-uncles!

There are LOTS of Teixeiras--it's a very common name. But you never know!
well da thing is, in Portugal pretty much every one had José de something or Maria de something as their names. So for a more accurate approach it would be handy to ask the question again but with their second or middle names. My dad is called Jose ..... Teixeira, my grandfather is Jose.....Teixira and my Grandmother is Maria.......Teixeira, this side of my family is from Madeira if that may be of any usefulness.

Mas boa sorte na mesma prima.

Mother's side includes Tavares, DaRosa, Gomes, and more....Living in RI, and there are many Cape Verdeans here and in NE...

I am interested in Heritage and history of Cape Verdeans, and have studied extensively regarding the history of the islands but have not pulled my geno-threads together yet...

J. Felipe?)

I'm sure he went back to Cape Verde many times, but I have NO idea who his family was. My dad has thinks someone way back was named Leopoldina who was from Spain/Portugal. I do know that he changed his name when he got here to Joseph (from Jose?); I saw his gravestone says Manuel Joseph.

If ANYTHING sounds familiar, please let me know so I can focus my efforts - I'd appreciate anything!

Have a peaceful & productive day,

~Alysia
Unfortunately I cannot quite pin down my grandmother's name. I was told that it was Geraldine but all the documents I have say that her name is Marie (Maria?) I do have a picture of my great grandfather and I know it is Manuel Teixeira

Marie (Geraldine) married a man named Allenn Brooks Norsworthy and they moved to Arizona.
Does anybody have more info???

Ian, I am also Ian Teixeira from British Guyana, son of Clement and grandson of Clement (died around 1961-1962). I have been trying to trace my Portuguese roots for sometime but don't have much to go on. My father states that his grandfather was one of three brothers that settled on the East Coast of Guyana. He also had a brother by the name of John (but he didn't die in '72) and thinks that he also had a brother named Joseph. The rest is sketchy.

Teixeiras from British Guiana

I am Ian A.Teixeira, son of Claude, grandson of Francis Borge Teixeira (b:10.Oct.1894; d: 29.Apr.1918) & Claudia Nunes. Great grandson of ? Teixeira (have a photo/no first name) who may have been the 1st of my Line to come to Guiana at that time from the Azores or Madeira. Francis had two known brothers: Joseph (b:?.?.1878; d:16.Apr.1948) and John Marcelinus (b:16.Jan.?; d:2.Jun.1972) Jonh Marcelinus was married to Olidia Moura. Their father, the unnamed one, was married to a Mary Kaseira (sp?) and there is also a picture of her. It is presumed that these two were probably married in Madeira or the Azores and came then moved to British Guiana to start their Line. My Line comes down from Francis and I have lots of data. I do have some data for John's Line. Nothing of Joseph's. An Edward was noted somewhere also. Please Email me ian_tex@hotmail.com if you have anything interesting to add.

Teixeira in "British Guiana"

Hello Ian,
My name is Gary De Nobrega. My Grandmother, Adalaide
Veonilda (Nee-Figueira) De Nobrega was born in what
was then called, "British Guiana", in 1905. Her mother's
maiden name was Teixeira. At this time I do not know her
first name. There is mention of a g. Teixeira, a J.M. Teixeira
and an Alvaro Teixeira. My great grandmother, Teixeira married
Joa Figueira. They had 4 children that I know of. Adalaide I
think was next to the youngest. Her sister was Ursula, and her
two brothers were Joseph and Charlie. Adalaide moved to NYC, NY
in 1922 right after they were married. Joseph and Charlie moved
to NYC later on in the twenties. Joseph died around 1979. I am
not too sure when Charlie died. They have three brilliant children.
One is a Rhodes scholar and professor at Rutgers University. The other two
are also professors at different colleges. I could get more info. but it would be limited.
Any help out there would be greatly appreciated. I can be reached at E-Mail (Jatqui@infoave.net)
