i was born in montreal on the 10th oct 1942

it appears that my dad and mom (amy nora Macquaig) were not married until 1960 in Vermont USA

My mom died in2007

ce thackray died in june of 1966

Hello, just had to answer this, the George Greaves Hattersley you talk about is my Gt Gt Grandfather, he married Mary Ann Harrington, their child George Frederick Hattersley married Emily Merrill and their daughter Edna is my grandmother. Would love to know if you have any further information regarding George Greaves Hattersley, i've found his father was John and his father was George and they all worked in fender/stove grate manufacturing, except George F who was a cab driver and he passed away in 1948 while living at Haden St

Hi Matt

My husbands grandfather was known as Edward Thackray, (real name charles edward mosley thackray)born 1908, his dad Mosley was from Leeds but came over to Canada when he was 19. Charles Edward died in 1959 (was an only child) he married Bell Emmerson in Moosejaw, they had two children, Sonja and Gary Edward (both recently deceased). Mosley married Angnes Charlotte but we can not find a maiden name and are unsure if they were married here in Canada or over in England. Anything familiar?

Hi,
Sarah Thackray born 1848 died 1849 didn't have a brother named James William. She had a brother named William. They were the children of Thomas and Mary.
Are these still your family.

Hi Helen,

The best thing to do is order a birth certificate of one of the children and this will give the parents names.
It will cost you £7.00 at the moment.

I'm researching Thackray's too in Tadcaster, Kirk Hammerton, Bardsey and beyond. Back to 1750 so far.

Hi,

I've just found John James born in Thirsk in 1907.
Richard (another sibling), Ernest, Margaret,Frederick and George all born in Easingwold, between 1915 - 1921. Mothers surname Thackray. Thirsk and Easingwold are 10 miles apart.

Not sure wether the children are from the same parents as John James was born 8 years before the others.

Maybe there are more children in between.

Yes I did make headway.
Thomas' parents are William and Ann (Lowrands)Thackwray.
William was born abt 1776 and married to Ann in 1814 at Bardsey Yorkshire.
William was the son of John and Ann Thackwray.

I would be very interested in the will you have.
Hopefully will tie into my family tree.

Seeking any info on Augusta, wife of George Thackray, who came to the US in 1863. She traveled with her children George, Augusta, Sarah and Charles, settling in Connecticut. Charles is my great grandfather. Later records refer to her as the widow of George Thackray. Her birth is about 1828 at Blackawton, Devon, England. Thank you!

Henry THACKRAY married Elizabeth L. ZELLEY about 1871
in Yorkshire.

In 1881, they can be found at 22 Peel Street at Bradford,
nearby at No. 24 was the "Falcons Inn" under the direction of Benjamin & Emma Ackroyd.

The Thackray children were Henry & Albert, both born in Bradford.

About 1897, Henry Jr. was likely in Barnsley and married to
Julia Agnes FROST.

An Albert THACKRAY married a GREGORY or WHITEHEAD about 1909 in the Barnsley region.

hi there.. i have just started to look into my family tree!! my aunt has told me that my grandmothers maiden name was thackeray.. i dont know the correct spelling though!! i was also told that they originated from ireland...... and there was a possibilty of titles... all unchecked and unsubstanciated as yet..so ANY help, or info that you may have would be gratefully received......

Hello. I was going through some old newspapers and found this announcement that might be helpful to someone:

"Mr. & Mrs. George May announce the engagement of their daughter Alma, to Mr. Douglas Wray Thackray, son of Mr. & Mrs. Frank Thackray, all of Calgary. The wedding wil take place at St. Paul's United Church, Calgary, on July 27 at 2:30 pm."

This is from the Calgary Herald dated Friday, July 12, 1963.

I don't have any other info that this.

I am George Brashaw my father was George His father was Frank Bradshaw they were from the Southport/Liverpool Sheffield/Preston areas of England I am from Liverpool and the family are still there is there any connection we also have family in Nottingham /Regards George .I am trying to do the family history I had an anuty Annie my dads relitive he had 13 brothers and one sister all from the Liverpool area ,I await your reply .

Trying to find information about MARY THACKRAY born January 1870 in Tadcaster Yorkshire.
Her Mum ELIZABETH THACKRAY born 1853 had her and a son WILLIAM 'out of wedlock'.
ELIZABETH worked at the "Big House"??? and became pregnant by the son of the big house.
ELIZABETH later married WILLIAM MAPPLEBECK.
MARY THACKRAY married JOHN MILES in 1897-8. He was born in 1865 at West Lockinge in Berkshire.

I am beginning to search for any information about my great grandfather Richard K (Kampton?) THACKRAY (1830 - 1880), married to Hannah Elizabeth JAMES. They are on the 1871 Ontario Census in Brudenell Township. Their children were Martha (b 12Jun1864), Eliza (b 08Oct1866), James (13May1869 - 19Jul1934), Hannah (15Apr1872 - 10Nov1874) and my grandmother Hannah (18May1877 - 08Nov19129).

Richard aslo had a brother James Robert THACKRAY and was reportedly teh youngest of 9 children.

Any info greatly appreciated.

We are in Barrie, Ontario & researching Harris & Pierce people in Carleton County, Ont. The 1901 Census gives a David Thackray, age 7, illegitamate child, living with Mrs. Maria Harris (nee Pierce) in Fitzroy Twp., Carleton Co. It's near Ottawa. Have you any knowledge of this person? Thank you!
