Yes, I am still a member. Great to get your message and I will share what information I have. My great grandfather, Gustave was a younger brother of Bernard Jr. Gustave and wife Mary had a son, Joseph Edwin (my grandfather) and daughter Adele Thier Simes. Joseph Edwin and Eileen Haggerty Thier, my grandparents, had a daughter, Ruth (died in 1922 at age of 12 of Scarlet Fever) and my father, Joseph Jerome who was killed in action in the Philippines in WW2. I have a information about Bernard and Lizette's children and some on Bernard Jr. Have census records, cemetery records, and more.
Have established that Bernard Sr and Jr were born in the German state of Baden Wertemberg (then just Wertemberg). Still trying to find out the city, town, or village.
Looking forward to hearing from you; I guess we are cousins?
Mary

I hope you are still a member. I am related to Bernard Jr, he was my great grandfather. His son Frederick was my grandfather. With your post I have a bit more information to
the Thier family puzzle. Would like to find out more information about other relatives, we know nothing on our side, all Frederick's children are dead.
I have a Great Grandmother named Rose Thier (1906-1996). She claimed to be German but their are many signs that what she told her children was untrue. We know she worked in Graz, Austria but we do not know where she was born. She was the only one in her family that we know of to have come to America. Maybe Rose and your relative are somehow related

My maiden name is Thier. My father, Joseph Jerome Thier was born in Brooklyn, NY in April 1911. His great grandfater and grandmother Bernard Thier and Elizabeth (Lizette) Schmidt Thier arrived in New York in 1847-48. They came from either the Alsace region of France (as I was told) or as my research indicates, from Westphalia, Germany; or possibly from Germany to Alsace to the US. Bernard and his sons, and grandsons, were lifelng residents of Brooklyn, NY; they were house painters. I would like to find other Thier relatives.
I remembered that you told me that your sister, Tammie, hadn't spoken to your family since she married and knew this must be you. Hope you have heard from her. I believe I heard somewhere that your mother has passed away. So has mine and my brother also. Now I am the only one left. I feel like an orphan. Please e-mail on face book. She immigrated to the US in 1903, along with Farkas, Holenar, Illek and Kibics (Gibits, Kubitz, Giebitz). She was in route to her cousin, Adam Illek of 128 2nd St. Passaic, Passaic, NJ and was accompanied by Mrs. Adam Illek. May have been in contact with others from the same town in Hungary while in Passaic, namely Barabas and Jullich families.
