I have a Clarence in my family tree with the last name Thorne also. He was the grandson of Anna Mann(Thorne) and Charles Thorne. My great grandmothers name is Bertha or Bertha Mae Moore Or Thorn. I'm not sure I have little to no information about her. Her only child my grandfather, name Leroy Z or Leroy Zebloun Moore or Zeblin born in North Carolina. I heard her mothers name maybe Polly,or Pollie,or Mollie or Molly not sure about that either. Its believed that she is of mix race Indian and or Chinese. New York and North Carolina and she was Catholic also another name came up Vance Zebulin or Zebloun Thorne.

everyone you mentioned is a super great grandparent of mine as well, except her bros there just super great uncles I think, anyways, I just found something its all over with Mary Roe & Langford Thorne, I am sure you must have seen it by now yourself, I have seen your name a few times, so I was wondering, do you think The William Roe in the papers with all the other Thorns might be a relative a brother or cousin??? Just thinking out loud, done a bit of research on all the Roes in the New York NE area & still haven't found that much.... Hope all is going well with your quest... my dads side still does not look as good as my moms side, not counting the 1st few gens... Anyways.... Hope all is going well.. Working on something to make researching a lot easier & make the headaches caused by mistakes to go away... among other things, anyways, just wondering if you thought he could some how be related to our grandma Super Great Grandma Mary Roe... I know this thread has been quiet for many years now. I have been working slowly to fill in many of the blanks in my family tree. Clifford Barrager is my grandfather. This thread has been very helpful.
I would love to get some more information. I will keep looking, but I can help fill in more holes in the Barrager side. My mothe, Phyllis, has helped me with some of it, but much of the family is spread out over the country.

From what I have been told which is vague, my maternal grandmother Winifred came to Chatham, Kent,England in the 1930's at the age of about 17 with her sisters. They came from somewhere in Ireland. She was born in 1914 and sadly died
at the age of 30. Her father was Jack maybe John Thorne and one of her sisters was Eileen. I have searched all avenues and always came to a dead end. If there are any Thornes in Ireland that have any information it would be most helpful.

Thomas Dickins (b.1807) marries a Susannah (Susanna/Sussanah). Writings and records from my Aunt tell me of a Thorne or THorpe connection at that time.

There is a Mary A Thorn, listed to be the daughter of Lorain Thorne III, and Martha A. Corder. This Mary A. Thorn has a sister name Lucy B. Thorn, born in White Gate, Va. The birthday's are not the same, for the daughter, of Lorain and your grandmother, but there are close. I have not found what has happen, to Lorain's and Martha's daughter.
I have seen, the death certificate on ancestry, for your grandmother. And wonder if by chance, have you seen the actual death certificate, of your grandmother. Is that really a ( M.) Thorn for her for her father.

your grandfather was tall---6'1 or 2 and his brother Jack was 6'3or4. I had communication with Jack in 2003 or 4 when he was 88. I still have some communication with Jacks daughter occasionally. Hope this information finds you and we can share notes.

You missed a couple of kids I know about for sure. Doris which believe was before Jack in the line-up. I met her as a child when we visited her in a mental institution in sacramento. (like 1957-8 or so) Also there Was Mabel, one of the older kids I think, that we also visited around that time I believe in Sonora, Ca. She was married to Johnny Rogers.

Hello there. You would be like a second cousin to me. My grandmother on my fathers side was your grandfathers sister Alice (Thorne) Schulz. I knew your grandfather when I was a boy, as my family lived near "uncle Jack Thorne" my fathers uncle (though they were fairly close in age)and we had some inner family communications at that time. I remember him telling me stories about living in tho wilderness at his mine on "Coffee Creek" in Trinity county, I think east of Redding. This stuff is on my wifes account at ancestry.com. I just started fooling around with it after seeing my wife having so much fun and low and behold up you popped. My name is Alan, and I do know quite a bit more about the family, if you care to communicate.

I was in England and Scotland this last July, but on a bus tour, so was unable to do any family research, did not even see my Thorne relative in Leicestershire. I wish that I could go back and really look into my ancestors.

I have found out that Sir John Aulden Thorne was knighted in England during the crusades. My grandfather had two twin brothers Oris, and Orland, Ruth, Goldie, John, There were 13 of them. I don't have my book in front of me. He married Thelma Marie McFarland. I am trying to get the family Bible that my grandmother left behind. I hope to get more information there. Hope this information helps, and I will post more.

I have an ancestor Thomas Thorne born in 1846 in Torrington, Devon. It appears, at some stage, his name was changed to Squires as he lived as Thomas Squires in 1881 and his son was George Thomas Squires. I cannot find out anything else about him.

I am also a Thorne descendant. I may have some information to help you out and maybe you can help me out too. Richard Thorne was born in Devon about 1755. I believe his wife,s name was Jane. Children included 2 daughters born prior to 1795 (listed on census); William 1791; Samuel 1795; Ann 1797, Richard 1798; Henry 1800; John 1802. My ancestor is Henry 1831 son of John.

Thomas Thorne - William Durham connection

Thomas Thorne 1536-1588, and Mary Purefoy 1533-1589 are apparently the parents of William Durham 1558-1582. They were all born in England. I have found dozens and dozens of trees that indicate this, but I cannot find any proof. I cannot understand the difference in last names, thus making me wonder. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks

I have traced back to William THORNE who married Ann ? before 1820 and had 5 children: WIlliam, Charles, John, Mary and Thomas from 1820-1833. I am trying to determine the last name of Ann. I've seen it published that her last name is LOCK and her parents were William LOCK(1757-1841) and Mary PENNY (1761-1825). I am unable to verify this connection. I believe all births, marriages and deaths took place in Barnstaple. Can anyone help?

Hi my maiden name was Alison Buckland and I was born in Tamworth Staffs in 1951 to Ernest and Elizabeth Buckland (nee Jackson). I believe my father's family came from Barrow-in-Furness. Dad and his brother Frank originally came to Canada in the 1920's, Frank stayed but Ernest went back to England and joined the army. To my knowledge they had two siblings Harry (who also came to Canada) and Bella (Isabella). Their parents were Frank and Isabella Buckland (nee Hogg). Are we related?

My father Ronald Ernest Stanley Thorne, b 1916 was married in 1938 to Joan Philis Hunt at St. Peters Church, The Delce, Rochester. The marriage cert. indicates Richard Thorne was his best man!!! Could this be your Richard???

I am looking for the descendants of Lunsford J. Thorne and Mary Ann Dragoo-Thorne. As of the 1850 census they were living in Ravenswood,Jackson, WV. They next were in Hazleton,Gibson,IN. where they died. Their son William Frederick Thorne b. 1848 in Ravenswood was my gggrandfather and he was married to Anna Catherine Knier. William Frederick d.1931 in Essex,Stoddard,MO and Anna d. 1911 in Hazleton,Gibson,IN. Anything anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I need some assistance in locating any information on a Kathryn M? Thorne(believed to be born in 1901(not sure where) and died July 1974 in Savannah, GA) who had a Henry Edward Thorne I believe in Sardis in 1930. Henry married Millicent Roberta Stant in North Carolina and she was from Virginia where she lived and died. They had four children Kathryn M. 1951(living), Henry Thorne Jr.(passed), Robert Charles Thorne(living) and David Thorne.

We believe Henry Edward Thorne also went by "Blackie" and was of Cherokee Indian decent, but unsure of father or mother as being the source.
